Good morning, dear judges. I'm number 10. It’s my great honor to have this opportunity to discuss my teaching design here. The subject of this lesson is “It’s raining?”

First of all, I would like to talk about the analysis of teaching material. This lesson is chosen from PEP English book of junior high school, grade 7, Unit 7. It is about weather. Students are supposed to learn present progressive tense in this lesson, this lesson is very important because it is a basic grammar focus .

Then let me talk about the analysis of students. Students in junior school are generally interested in English. They have strong curiosity and thirst for knowledge, the simple repetition of the text by teacher is no longer meet their satisfaction. They cline to evaluate themselves according to others’ opinions on them, so they pretty care about others’ evaluation. So during my class, I will give them more encourage to help them build up the confidence in learning English. According to the New Standard of English Curriculum, I set the following teaching aims.

1. Knowledge aims

(1)Students can master the new words about weather.

(2)Students can use the Present Progressive tense to describe things easily;

(3)Students can master the key sentences in this part:

How is the weather in Beijing?/ What’s the weather like in Beijing?

2. Ability aims

(1)Students can use the present progressive tense in a different context;

(2)Students can foster the abilities of getting useful information from listening material;

(3)Students can improve their listening and speaking abilities;

(4)Students can describe the weather in different ways.

3. Emotional aims

(1) Can improve the confidence of learning English, and not afraid of speaking English in class;

(2)Can cooperate with others actively, and complete the tasks together;

(3)Can understand that New Year is a very time to make a plan;

Help them to learn the new drills: What does this sign mean? It means… 4. Require them to use the drills and the conversational English freely, talk about the public signs they’ve seen before. Ability aims： 1. Enable them to use what they’ve learned in class. Especially to open their mouth to speak, to practice oral English and to take part in different activities. 2. Develop their abilities of conmunication, self-learning and question-asking through task-based teaching. 3. Improve their ability of writing through effective exercise. Emotion aims: 1. Cultivate the students’ spirit of teamwork and consciousness of competition. 2. Let the students enjoy the sensation of success and the confidence of English-leaning. At the same time their motivation and interest should also be well fostered. 3. Offer moral education properly when teach “No smoking and No littering.” III. Teaching difficulties and key points. What I’ve said above are aims of this lesson. Thirdly I’ll emphasize the teaching difficulties and key points. According to the aims, the new words and the drills will be the key points. First of all,I?d like to talk about my understanding about this lesson.We have learned Star sings in Unit 1 and Colours and moods in Unit 2.We have also learned how to write a formal recommendation letter and how to write a report on the moods of people in last two units.Today we are going to learn two letters to a famous youth worker about Millie?s and Simon?s problems.So this unit links with a special meaning of Unit 1 and Unit 2.This period is the first lesson of Reading.The main idea of the topic is how to express their problems and ask for advice.We are going to learn the ways to deal with problems and stress in following lessons.So this period is very important in this unit. Part 2 Teaching aims 1．Aims of the knowledge: （1）To know the spelling of some words and usage of some phrases. （2）To learn something about Millie?s and Simon?s problems.
