Contained in a proforma invoice are usually the descriptions of the good, quantity, unit price, amount, port of loading, time of shipment, terms of payment and insurance coverage(保险范围), etc. A proforma invoice serves as a quotation sheet when it indicates a prescribed period for which the price and conditions mentioned therein will remain valid.

Quotation
A quotation (quotation sheet) is a statement of the prevailing prices of goods and services. The supplier is willing to provide goods and service at the prices on the terms and conditions mentioned in it. A quotation sheet will be sent to the prospective importer by the exporter after he receives an enquiry from the foreign buyer.
Proforma invoice
Proforma invoice(形式发票) is a kind of invoice which is made to inform importers of the cost of goods before shipment. It is usually used to apply for an import license (进口许可证), the establishment of an L/C or foreign exchange quota (信用证或者外 汇额度的开立) by the importer.
