It allows us to enter a whole new world, filled with imagination, knowledge, and creativity. After reading a book or article, we often feel inspired to reflect on the ideas presented and share our own thoughts. This is where the art of writing comes into play – the ability to express ourselves through words and communicate with others. One of the most effective ways to practice writing is by doing a "read and write" exercise. This involves reading a passage or story and then using it as inspiration to write your own piece. By doing this, we not only enhance our vocabulary and grammar skills, but also develop our creativity and critical thinking abilities. There are a few key phrases that can be used as a guide when writing a response to a reading passage. These can help to structure your thoughts and ensure that your writing is coherent and logical. Some examples of these phrases include:- In conclusion,- Moreover,- Furthermore,- Additionally,- On the other hand,- However,- In contrast,- To sum up,- As a result,By incorporating these phrases into your writing, you can create a more polished and well-organized piece that effectively conveys your ideas and opinions. In summary, reading and writing go hand in hand as essential skills for communication and self-expression. Reading helps broaden our vocabulary, improve our grammar, and enhance our understanding of the language. Writing, on the other hand, allows us to practice what we have learned from reading, reinforces our knowledge, and helps us communicate effectively. When it comes to reading, there are many techniques we can use to enhance our skills. Skimming and scanning are useful strategies when we need to quickly extract information from a text. Reading for gist can help us grasp the main idea of a text, while reading for detail allows us to understand the finer points. Reading extensively, whether it's books, newspapers, or online articles, is important for building our vocabulary and improving our reading comprehension. After reading, it's important to put what we have learned into practice by writing. Writing helps us reinforce our learning, organize our thoughts, and express ourselves clearly. There are many types of writing we can practice, such as essays, emails, reports, and creative writing. Each type of writing requiresdifferent skills and structures, so it's important to practice a variety of genres. To improve our writing skills, we can start by planning and organizing our ideas before we start writing. We should have a clear purpose and audience in mind, so our writing is focused and coherent. It's also important to pay attention to grammar, punctuation, and spelling to ensure our writing is clear and easy to read.In conclusion, reading and writing are fundamental skills in language learning. By continuously practicing both skills, we can improve our vocabulary, grammar, and communication skills in English. So let's keep reading and writing to become better English speakers and writers.篇3Reading is not only a way to gain knowledge, but also a way to improve language skills. When we read, we expose ourselves to a wide range of vocabulary and sentence structures that can be used in our own writing. In this essay, I will discuss the importance of reading and how it can benefit our writing skills.Firstly, reading helps us to expand our vocabulary. When we come across new words while reading, we can look up theirmeanings and add them to our own vocabulary. This not only improves our writing skills, but also helps us to communicate more effectively in daily life. Additionally, reading different genres of literature exposes us to different styles of writing, which can help us to develop our own unique writing voice.Furthermore, reading can help us to develop our critical thinking skills. When we read, we are exposed to different perspectives and ideas that may challenge our own beliefs. This can help us to think more critically about the world around us and improve our ability to formulate and defend our own arguments in writing. In addition, reading can help us to improve our grammar and sentence structure. By reading well-written literature, we can see how sentences are constructed and how grammar rules are applied in context. This can help us to avoid common writing mistakes and improve the overall quality of our writing.Overall, reading is a valuable tool that can greatly benefit our writing skills. By expanding our vocabulary, developing our critical thinking skills, and improving our grammar and sentence structure, we can become more effective and confident writers. So, let's make it a habit to read regularly and continue to improve our writing skills.。

(一)The other day I was travelling to San Antonio by train to visit my sister. The train was a little crowded and there was a young man sitting next to the window. Since it was a hot day, I wanted that window seat more than anything else at that time As a young lady, I thought the young man would give me the seat if I asked him. So I smiled at him and asked whether he could give up his seat and take another one. To my surprise, he said that he needed that seat and refused my request. I had no choice but to take the seat next to him.The train was crossing station after station .The weather was so hot that the scenery(风景) outside the window could not attract my interest I had nothing to do, so I started to focus my attention on the young man and stare at him up and down. He wore a blue shirt and there was a shawl(披巾) on his legs. He did not even rise from his seat once, which made me feel a little bit strange. Moreover, only a madman would use a shawl in such hot weather, I thought. After the five-hour long journey, the train arrived at the final stop. I picked up my bag and stood up, waiting for the door to open. I gave aneglectful (不经意的) look at the young man and asked, “The train has arrived at the final station. Are you not getting off?" Hearing my words, he began to smile at me and said in a calm voice, "Someone has to come for me and take me off the train because I can’t do it by myself. "I gave my full attention to his legs, only to find there was nothing under that shawl!Paragraph 1:The man was a disabled person.______________________________ ___________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________ paragraph 2After hearing his story, I could not meet his eyes any more.______________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________参考答案:Paragraph1:The man was a disabled person. Both of his legs were gone. I couldn't believe what I saw and didn't know how to ease my embarrassment. Seeing the surprised expression on my face, the young man explained, “I lost both of my legs in a car accident three years ago. I' m a medical student and went to pay a visit to my parents and now I am returning to school. One of my classmates will come to pick me up.Paragraph 2After hearing his story, I could not meet his eyes anymore! I wished I could disappear in front of him at that moment. I didn't get off the train until his classmate walked to his seat and picked him up. How could I have such a strange idea about a person without knowing him? I realized it's always necessary to understand the truth behind someone’s words or actions. I have given up my wrong opinions about others without thinking since then.(二)Rain is pouring down today, which brings back sweet memories of our dog, Bambi. She joined our family at the age of four months. Like all puppies, she was full of energy and wonder. Our boys described excitedly that she looked just like the young deer, Bambi, in the movie they had watched recently. The name fitted her personality perfectly.Bambi also had all the fine physical characteristics of the German Shepherd. She was strong, yet gentle and shy. We were a young family with two growing, energetic boys, so she fitted right in with our lifestyle. Bambi loved the boys. She would play with them until they were completely tired .When Bambi was almost two years old, a full-grown dog, she became quite protective of us. She never failed to watch the boys. If any stranger entered our yard, she d watch him or her with sharp eyes and let out a lowbark. Even though Bambi had this protective instinct(本能), she never hurt anyone. Nevertheless, she did manage to frighten(惊吓) away many welcome and unwelcome guests. On one occasion, I had called a repairman to come to our home to fix the refrigerator. I was at work, and the boys were home with the babysitter I told the repairman by phone that we had a dog, but it would be safe to enter the house because the babysitter would be there to meet him. However when the repairman arrived, the babysitter and boys went outside. As he went close to our front door, Bambi was outside and she barked at him while she guarded the door. As long as the man attempted to move, Bambi would jump up and bark more fiercely(凶猛地)。

高中英语读后续写精彩句 样本

高中英语读后续写精彩句 样本

高中英语读后续写精彩句样本Reading is an essential part of learning a language, andit's particularly important for high school students who are trying to develop their English proficiency. One way that teachers can help their students become better readers is by assigning "read and write" activities that require them to analyze the text and produce original content based on it.One great example of this type of activity is the "read, summarize, and continue" exercise. This entails reading a short passage or story and then summarizing it in one or two sentences. Next, the student must continue the story with their own original sentences, making sure to stay true to the style, tone, and themes of the original text. This type of activity provides students with several benefits. Firstly, it encourages them to read actively, focusing on important details and picking up on nuances in language use. Secondly, it requires them to thinkcreatively and see beyond the confines of what has alreadybeen written. Finally, it helps them build confidence in their writing abilities as they learn to craft cohesive stories from scratch. To implement this activity effectively, teachers should select texts that are at an appropriate level for their students' language skills. The selected text should be engaging and thought-provoking so that students are motivated to continue the story with original content. Here's an example prompt for a "read, summarize, and continue" activity:Emma sat alone in her room staring out the window. Outside she could hear the sounds of children playing in the park across the street. She wished she could join them but knew it was impossible.Summarize: Emma wants to play outside but can't.Continue: Suddenly there was a knock at Emma's door...With opportunities like these for students to practicetheir writing skills while also having fun withstorytelling exercises such as read-and-continue practice activities (or anything involving continued narrative) will ensure they enhance their proficiency in English even further - keeping things engaging while promoting development!\。

阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

The big Town Hall clock was striking midnight when Frank began to cross the bridge. The dark night air was cold and wet, and the street lamps gave little light. Frank was anxious get hand and his footsteps rang loudly on the silent night. When he reached the middle of the bridge, he thought he could hear someone coming near behind him. He looked back but could see no one. However the sound continued, and Frank began walking more quickly. Then he slowed down again, thinking there was nothing to fear in a town as quiet as this. The short, quick steps grew louder until they seemed very near.Frank found it impossible not to turn round. As he did so, he caught sight of a human form coming toward him. After reaching the other side of the bridge, Frank stopped and pretended to look down at the water. From the corner of his eyes he could now make out the form of a man dressed in a large overcoat. A hat was pulled down over his eyes and very little of his face could be seen.As the man came near, Frank turned towards him and said something about the weather in an effort to be friendly. The man did not answer but asked roughly where Oakfield House was. Frank pointed to a big house in the distance and the stranger continued his way. Then Frank wondered why the stranger had wanted to find Oakfield House at such an hour. He knew that the person who lived there was very rich. Almost without realizing what he was doing, Frank began following the stranger quietly. The man was soon outside the house and Frank saw him look up at the windows. A light was still on, and the man waited until it went out. When about half an hour had passed, Frank saw him climb noiselessly over the wall and heard him drop onto the ground at the other side.注意:1. 所续写短文的词数应为150左右;2. 应使用5个以上短文中标有下划线的关键词语;3. 续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好;4. 续写完成后,请用下划线标出你所使用的关键词语。

Paragraph 1:Now Frank knew what the man wanted to do.______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Paragraph 1:Frank couldn’t just stand in the dark and wait.______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________答案及解析:Like every other Sunday morning,my best friend,Patty, dropped my godchildren,Jeremiah and Rachel, off at my apartment around 6:30 a.m. before she went on her way to work. And,just like every other Sunday morning,we all went back to sleep for a couple of hours. When everyone awoke I made a quick breakfast and then the four of us,my husband,Larry, the kids and myself, hurried and got ourselves out the door for church, just like every other Sunday morning. It wasn’t until we walked through the church doors and I saw the girl standing there passing out flowers that I remembered this wasn’t like every other Sunday morning,it was Mother’s Day.Before I could stop him,Jeremiah, always the curious child, went up to the girl and tugged on her arm. “Linda, what are you doing?” He asked.Linda smiled at him and said brightly “I’m giving a flower to every mother in church today because it’s Mother’s day.” Jeremiah’s eyes grew bright. “My mom had to work today. Can I have a flower to take home to give her?”I was so proud of him at that moment. Jeremiah was often 1)hyper,and it was sometimes hard for him to remember to speak slowly and ask for things politely when he was excited. But he had been the perfect little gentleman when he asked for that flower.“Of course.” Linda answered, and lowered the box she was holding so that Jeremiah could pick out a flower for Patty.Jeremiah turned towards me,proudly holding a pink carnation in his hand. He smiled at me. His dark eyes danced with pride and love and excitement. I smiled at him and motioned for him to come with me so we could go take our seats in church, but instead,h e turned back towards Linda.“Can I please have a flower for Aunt Kimmie too?”I felt my breath catch somewhere in my chest. That was the last thing I had expected Jeremiah to do. It was one of the sweetest and most sincere things I had ever heard him say. But neither of us was ready for what happened next. “Oh,no,Jeremiah. She can’t have a flower. She isn’t a mom.” Linda replied.I watched as all the joy Jeremiah had been feeling left his face. Gone was his bright smile. Those sparkling eyes of his turned troubled. There was now a confused,pain-filled little boy standing where, just seconds ago,a very happy child had stood. My heart broke in about a million pieces, but not for myself, for Jeremiah. His heart was broken, and my heart ached for him.But my heart was also full because,in that incredibly 2)insensitive moment,I found out how much Jeremiah loved me and how much I meant to him.I may not have been his mom,but it was my apartment he came to after school several days a week while Patty worked. I was the one that fixed his meals and gave him his favorite 3)Popsicles. I always read him stories and sang songs to him. I calmed his fears and 4)chased away the monsters when he had a bad dream, and,I was the keeper of the band-aids whenhe was hurt. I was the one that was there when Patty couldn’t be. In Jeremiah’s eyes,I might not have been his mom,but I was just as important as his own mother was. And,he always 5)affectionately called me,“Aunt Kimmie”,even though I wasn’t.I shot Linda a look as I took Jeremiah by the hand and urged him to come with me. She started to say something, but at that point I didn’t trust myself to respond kindly to her,so I turned my back and walked away. Perhaps it wasn’t the Christian thing to do,but walking away beat the few choice un-Christian words I wanted to say to her instead. The rest of that morning Jeremiah was quiet and 6)withdrawn. When we got back home from church I got out my prettiest vase so he could keep that pink carnation in it and give it to Patty when she came for him. But his enthusiasm had been crushed;the joy he had felt had been robbed from him. And I didn’t know how to fix it for him. That afternoon after nap time,Jeremiah and Rachel went outside to play in the courtyard of our apartment building.I was in the kitchen making dinner for everyone when I heard the front door open. Jeremiah slowly came to the doorway of the kitchen, his hands behind his back.“Aunt Kimmie,” he said softly,“You deserve something for Mother’s day.” I knelt down in front of him as he pulled out a handful of fresh picked dandelions and gave them to me. I felt tears on my cheeks as I gathered him in my arms and hugged him tightly.“I love you,Aunt Kimmie.”“I love you, too,Jeremiah.” And,I couldn’t have loved him more if he had been my own son.清晨六点半左右,和往常的星期天一样,我最好的朋友帕蒂在她去上班之前,将我的两个教子女杰里迈亚和瑞秋扔在了我的公寓。
