Do as you would be done by (若要人敬己,先要己敬人)。Eye for eye, tooth for tooth(以牙还牙,以眼还眼),出自《旧约·出埃及记》。 例如,Achilles' heel“唯一之弱 点”,源出希腊神话;cut the Gordian knot“快刀斩乱麻”,源出希腊神 话;fly on the wheel“狂妄自大的人”,源出《伊索寓言》。

Let nature take its course

Stay calm and let nature take its course.

bite off more than one can chew

I think you bit off more than you could chew when you agreed to paint this house by yourself.

That is the last straw.
这一说法起源于一古老谚语the last straw which breaks the camel's back(压死骆驼的最后一根稻草),比喻最后一击,忍耐的极限。

He's always been rude to me, but it was the last straw when he started insulting my mother.

play it by ear

I can't promise I can make it tonight. Let's play it by ear.

a stone's throw

▎He lives only a stone's throw from here.

be/live in each other's pockets

▎I don't think it's good the way you two are always in each other's pockets.

a piece of cake / as easy as a pie

☞ windfall / pennies from heaven
windfall可以理解为:风吹落果,凭自然之力得来果实,全不费工夫;

▎He was thinking how to deal with the windfall/pennies from heaven.
