I had to go grocery_shopping this morning for the first time in a couple of weeks. My husband had been in Greece for a few weeks and my daughters were not at_home either so I had stocked up on vegetables, salad ingredients and fruits along with the meat that I had in the freezer.I am curious. When you are in line waiting to check out,do you check out what others have in their carts?I hate to admit it,but I do.I try not to judge, but again,I suppose I do to some extent-when I see a family in which the parents and the kids are very overweight and they are buying pop(汽水)and highcalorie snack foods. My biggest issue with groceries is that all of the processed foods are easier to get and cheaper than fresh produce and probably stretch further. It amazes me to see families buying 12 packs or 24 packs of different kinds of pop. Most of the people that I am seeing are buying regular pop,not diet. But when I was young,we bought pop on_special_occasions.For birthday parties or a camping trip,we could only have one can per day.We bought Shasta back then.I am not even sure whether it is still sold or not.We could all pick a few different_flavors that we wanted for the trip. But nowadays, pop is everywhere you go. I am glad to say that the_hospital that I work for threw_away all of their pop vending machines(自动贩卖机).They didn't think health care workers, patients or patients' families needed them.I was happy for the change, but other people might not think so.注意:1.所续写短文的词数应为150左右;2.至少使用5个短文中标有下划线的关键词语;3.续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好;4.续写完成后,请用下划线标出你所使用的关键词语。

My teenage son, Jordan, always complained about having to be home earlier than all his friends. He would tell me that he was already seventeen, but still had a curfew (宵禁),He believed he was practically an adult.I pointed out that he was not an adult as he was still in high school.“You don't trust me!” he yelled. Before I continued, he rolled his eyes, slammed the door and walked away.I sighed. How could I make Jordan see that I only wanted to keep him safe?I decided to go for a walk, hoping the December air would clear my head.I opened the front door and nearly stepped on her: a small black cat, just like a meatball.“Hi, Meatball," I said, bringing her into my arms.I walked back in, touching her neck gently.Meatball seemed happy enough to come in the house, but after an hour or two, she sat by the door, meowing to go back outside.“Why won't she just stay in with us all the time?” Nathan, my youngest son asked.I explained to him that she was happy here but she liked being able to come and go as she pleased.“That must be nice,” Jordan muttered from the other room, complaining why the cat, not him, could come and go.He even asked me to give Meatball a curfew.Meatball became a regular. One night, temperatures were unusually low.Meatball stood at the door, meowing to go outside.I shook my head at her, afraid that she might freeze to death. She stared at me and meowed again.I patted her head, “I know you're not happy, but it's for your own good.”“Mom's not being mean to you,” Nathan told the cat.“She's just trying to keep you from turning into a frozen meatball.”We both laughed at his joke. The next morning, I couldn't find Meatball.I asked the kids if anyone had seen her.【注意】1.续写词数应为150左右;2.请按如下格式作答。

At the center of the mall was the perfect Santa with a gentle manner and a real white beard. My six-year-old granddaughter,Leah, jumped from foot to foot as we waited in line for her turn to sit on his lap.“I don’t know what to say,” Leah said, raising her neck around the kids in front of her.“Sure you do,”her mother,Leanne, said.“It’s Santa. He’s already your friend. You’ll do just fine.”“He’ll ask you what you want for Christmas,” I said.“And you just tell him.”We’d gone over and over the toys she’d ask for.Her mother didn’t want surprises! Leah repeated the list. But a minute later, she inserted new toys she’d just spotted at the mall.“I’ve got an idea,” said Leanne, digging into her purse as the line inched forward.“Let’s write down your requests so you won’t forget them.” I couldn’t help but laugh.Going to see Santa was such an important appointment for a six-year-old.No child should have any worries bigger than that. But the night before,on the news,I’d see n a village in the Middle East that had come under fire. Many of the wounded were children just like our Leah.Looking around the mall full of magical decorations and happy shoppers I felt safe,as safe as anyone could be.Everyone in the world should have that kind of security, especially at Christmas.“Okay,” Leanne said.“Now you’ve got everything you want written down here.If you get nervous you can just give the note to Santa.”Leah nodded and took the list. She read out loud,“A Chia Pet,Moon Sand and Aquadoodle.”“Why don’t you add a fourth request,Leah,” I heard myself say.“Ask for peaceonearth.” My daughter looked a little surprised by my suggestion.“What’s peace on earth,Grandma?” Leah asked.“Peace on earth means all the people in the world would get along. That’s the true meaning of Christmas.” Leah nodded seriously.“Yes,” she agreed.注意:1.所续写短文的词数应为150左右;2.应使用5个以上短文中标有下划线的关键词语;3.续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好;4.续写完成后,请用下划线标出你所使用的关键词语。
