Thank you! Thank you!I told my friends I would come here to say “thank you” then walked off. I can’t, it’s no way. I get so many people I can thank. In all the videos, you never just saw me, also Scottie Pippen and the championship we won. I’ve got a lot of questions over the last four weeks. Anybody says “well, why do you pick David Thompson?” I know why, David knows why and maybe you guys don’t know. But as I grow up in North Carolina, I was eleven years old, 1974, I think, when David won the championship. I hated North Carolina, but I ended up in North Carolina. But I was in love with David Thompson, not just for the game basketball, but in terms of what he represented. You know, we all, as David says or said we go through trails and tribulations. And he did, and I was inspired by him. And when I called him and asked him to stand up for me, I know I shock the shit out of him. I know I did. But he is very kind to say, “Yeath, I’ll do it.” That is not disrespect to the North Carolina guy; we all know I am true blue North Carolina guy to the heart. Coach Smith, Larry Brown, Sam Perkins, James Worthy, you know all of those guys.

Dear BasketballIt's been almost 28 years since the first day we met. 28 years since I saw you in the back of our garage.28 years since my parents introduced us.

If someone would have told me then, what would become of us, I'm not sure I would have believed them.I barely remembered your name.

Then I started seeing you around the neighborhood and watching you on television. I used to see you with guys down at the playground. But when my older brother started paying more attention to you, I started to wonder. Maybe you were different. We hung out a few times. The more I got to know you, the more I liked you. And as life would have it, when I finally got really interested in you, when I was finally ready to get serious, left me off the varsity. You told me I wasn't good enough.I was crushed. I was hurt. I think I even cried.

中英文阅读《少年天才迈克尔乔丹》中英文阅读《少年天才迈克尔乔丹》There were already signs that he had a good deal of talent. Harvest Smith, a classmate and close friend who in those days played basketball with him practically every day, thought he was the best player on their ninth-grade team — he was small, but he was every quick. “You’d see him get a shot off, and you’d wonder how he did it, because he wasn’t that bit,” Smith said, “but it was the quickness. The o nly question was how big he was going to be —and how far up he would take his skill level.”The summer after ninth grade, Jordan and Smith both went to Pop Herring’s basketball camp. Neither of them had yet come into his body, and almost all of the varsity players, two and sometimes three years older, seemed infinitely stronger at that moment when a year or two in physical development can make all the difference. In Smith’s mind there was no doubt which of the two of them was the better player—it was Michael by far. But on the day the varsity cuts were announced — it was the big day of the year, for they had all known for weeks when the list would be posted —he and Roy Smith had gone to the Laney gym. Smith’s name was on it, Michael’s was not.It was the w orst day of Jordan’s young life. The list was alphabetical, so he focused on where the Js should be, and it wasn’t there, and he kept reading and rereading the list, hoping somehow that he had missed it, or that the alphabetical listing had been done incorrectly. That day he went home by himself and went to his room and cried. Smith understood what was happening —Michael, he knew, never wanted you to see him when he was hurt.“We knew Michael was good,” Fred Lynch, the Laney assistant coach, said later, “b ut we wanted him to play more and we thought the jayvee was better for him.” He easily became the best player on the jayvee that year. He simply dominated the play, and he did it not by size but with quickness. There were games in which he would score forty points. He was so good, in fact, that the jayvee games became quite popular. The entire varsity began to come early so they could watch him play in the jayvee games.Smith noticed that while Jordan had been wildly competitive before he had been cut, after the cut he seemed even more competitive than ever, as if determined that it would never happen again. His coaches noticed it, too. “The first time I ever saw him, I had no idea who Michael Jordan was. I was helping to coach the Laney varsity,” said Ron Coley. “We went over to Goldsboro, which was our big rival, and I entered the gym when the jayvee game was just ending up. There were nine players on the court just coasting, but there was one kid playing his heart out. The way he was playing I thought his team was down one point with two minutes to play. So I looked up at the clock and his team was down twenty points and there was only one minute to play. It was Michael, and I quickly learned he was always like that.”Between the time he was cut and the start of basketball in his junior year, Jordan grew about four inches. The speed had always been there, and now he was stronger, and he could dunk .His hands had gotten much bigger, Smith noticed. He was as driven as ever, the hardest-working player on the team in practice. If he thought that his teammates were not working hard enough, he would get on them himself, and on occasion hepushed the coaches to get on them. Suddenly Laney High had the beginning of a very good basketball team, and its rising star was Michael Jordan.

What I Learned From Michael JordanMichael Jordan is one of the greatest basketball players of all time. Even though I was just a little kid when he played, I have learned so much from watching videos of his games and reading about his life. Michael Jordan taught me many valuable lessons that I try to apply to my own life every day.The biggest thing I learned from Michael Jordan is the importance of hard work and dedication. Michael was not born a superstar - he had to work incredibly hard to become one of the best ever. When he was in high school, he didn't even make the varsity basketball team at first because he was too short. But instead of giving up, he practiced constantly and grew taller. His hard work paid off when he made the team the next year.Even after becoming a professional and one of the biggest stars in the NBA, Michael never stopped working hard. He showed up early for practice and was usually one of the last players to leave. His legendary work ethic is summed up in his famous quote: "I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take thegame winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."This quote teaches me that failure is okay, as long as you learn from it and keep trying your hardest. Michael failed many times, but he never let that stop him from working towards his goals. He just practiced harder after every setback. I try to apply this mindset to my schoolwork. If I get a bad grade on a test, I don't get discouraged. I study harder for the next one. Like Michael, I know that failing occasionally is inevitable, but giving up is not an option.Along with his tireless work ethic, I really admire Michael Jordan's fiery competitiveness. He always wanted to be the best and hated losing more than anyone. His famous "Willing Arrance" commercial perfectly captured his competitive drive. In the ad, Michael walked through a scenario where he was a businessperson instead of an athlete. Even in the boring business world, he still approached everything as a vicious competition that he had to win at all costs. This intense competitive spirit is what drove Michael to keep improving and ultimately become greater than every other player in the league. He was never satisfied. If he won a championship one year, he came back even more determined torepeat the next season. I try to have that same mindset when playing sports or competing in academic competitions. I am not just playing for fun - I am playing to win. Having a killer instinct and burning desire to be the best really helps motivate me.Of course, Michael Jordan was not only a great player, but he was also an amazing teammate and leader. Even though he deserved a lot of the credit for the Bulls' six championships, he always deflected praise to his teammates like Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman. He knew that basketball was a team game and he could not have won all those titles by himself. His unselfish attitude and willingness to make others around him better is something I really admire. On my basketball team, I try to follow Michael's example by being a team player. I look for open teammates when I have the ball instead of forcing up a bad shot. I cheer loud for my friends when they make a great play. And win or lose, I always make sure to thank them for their effort after the game. Being a good teammate and dishing out assists is just as important as scoring points yourself.Michael Jordan was not only a leader on the court, but also a leader in society. He overcame a lot of challenges and discrimination as a Black man to become one of the mostfamous and marketable athletes in the world. He used his platform and "Air Jordan" brand to inspire people of all backgrounds to pursue their dreams, no matter how unlikely they seemed. His determination to keep fighting against the odds and breaking down barriers is extremely admirable.Whenever I face difficulties or people tell me I can't achieve something due to my race, gender, or other reasons, I think of Michael Jordan. He had to deal with so much more negativity and hate than I ever will, yet he still made it to the top through perseverance. If he could accomplish his wildest dreams against that type of adversity, then I know I can achieve my goals as well by working hard and believing in myself like Michael did. Finally, one of the most important lessons I learned from Michael Jordan is the value of humility and appreciating what you have. Despite being incredibly rich and famous, he never lost sight of where he came from. He donated millions to charity and opened up a Boys and Girls Club in his hometown so kids could have opportunities he didn't have growing up. He made sure to go back and thank his college coaches, high school teachers, and others who helped pave his path to success.Too often, people let money, fame, and status go to their head. They start acting arrogant and looking down on those"beneath" them. But not Michael Jordan. He was always gracious and thankful for what he accomplished. He signed countless autographs for fans, even after becoming a global icon. He represented his family, friends, and communities with class and dignity at all times. Money and fame didn't change who he was as a humble, hard-working person.I really look up to Michael Jordan's ability to stay grounded and use his platform to give back, instead of just flaunting his wealth. Even though I'm just a kid, I always try to appreciate everything my parents do for me and not take anything for granted. When I accomplish good things like making the honor roll, I make sure to thank my teachers and parents for their support and sacrifices that enabled my success. I never want to become arrogant or unappreciative like some other celebrities let fame go to their heads. In conclusion, Michael Jordan taught me so many invaluable lessons that extend far beyond just the game of basketball. His unmatched work ethic, competitive fire, team-first attitude, perseverance against adversity, humility, and willingness to give back to others are all qualities I aspire to emulate in my own life. He is not only the greatest basketball player ever, but also a role model for how to face any challenge head-on and achieve truegreatness through dedication and character. I hope to always keep the lessons I learned from Michael Jordan's incredible life and career close to my heart as I continue working towards my dreams.。

Jordan was extremely instrumental in popularizing the NBA around the world in the 1980s and 1990s.It takes a very special person to become the greatest basketball player of all time, so today I want to talk about 10 success lessons from Michael Jordan.

1. Make It Happen“Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.”In order to succeed you’re going to have to kick down the door and make it happen on purpose. You’re not going to “luck up” and succeed, success won’t come with the passage of time. If you’re going to succeed, you’re going to have to roll up your sleeves, put your head down, and make it happen at all costs.1.

2. Passion“Even when I’m old and grey, I won’t be able to play it, but I’ll still love the game.”You must have passion in order to succeed. If success is to be yours, it will be yours while you are following your passion. You won’t succeed doing something you despise, you won’t even succeed doing something that you like doing, you will succeed when you do what you love, what you’re passionate about.2.

3. Try“I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying.”How can you succeed if you never try? How can you go to your grave knowing that you never tried? You may not know what paths will work best for you, the only way to discover the right path, is to try. Try and try, until you discover your difference. Try until you learn where you can be a success.3.

4. Work“I’m not out there sweating for three hours every day just to find out what it feels like to sweat.”If success is to be yours, you can rest assured that you’re going to have to work at it. To be the best you have to give your best. You have to work harder than the rest. While people are resting you have to be working. Success is a game, you have to play hard, you have to out-smart the competition, you have to put in the work. Jordan said, “I’ve always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come.”4.

5. Fail“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”Never fear failure; fear not trying, fear not giving your best, fear losing focus, but never fear failure. Failure is the path to success. Failure is the sign that you’re headed in the right direction. To succeed twice as fast, fail twice as much. Fail often, fail daily, and soon you will succeed. Jordan said, “I’ve never been afraid to fail.”5.

”6. Go Around“If you’re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you runinto a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, o r work around it.”Obstacles are what prepare you for success. How can you go to the 10th grade unless you pass the 5th grade? The 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grades are obstacles to the 10th grade. They are there to keep you out until you’re “ready” to proceed. They are there to ensure you don’t arrive prematurely; they are there to ensure that when you arrive, you are ready. Obstacles aren’t a bad thing; they’re the training grounds to success.6.
