不单对初入学无知少法的学生需要事先指明，就是中高年级已经掌握了一些知识和学习方法的学生，在进入较难的学习内容时，也需要事先指明。
如运用中心句作段意的方法;连接段意概括文章的主要内容的方法，在概括文章主要内容，分析作者写作目的的基础上归纳中心思想的方法等等，也都要在第一次接触这些方法时由教师事先指明。
