Step 1: Warm-up
教师说：I’m very happy today. I read a book about an island.教师边说边画，不会画的老师可以出示幸福岛的图片(见本书所附光盘)：It is so beautiful. It’s in the sea. There are many fruit trees and beautiful flowers. It is called. Happy Island. 教师板书。
教师接着问：Do you want to go to Happy Island? 利用学生的好奇心引起阅读的兴趣。
But how can we get there? 请学生回答。
Maybe we can get there by ...
教师再说：I’m afraid it’s not easy to get there.
Step 2：Presentation
1. Now let’s read about how to get to Happy Island.教师给出本课标题和本课
学习目标。
2. 教师请学生看图自己默读整篇课文，并回答：How many people are there in the story? Who are they? 学生自读之后回答：There are four people in the story. They are Joe, Mike, Ted and Grandma. 教师帮助学生正确读出这几个人物名称。
3. 教师请学生看第一幅图，并读第一段课文，回答：How can they go to Happy Island? 教师帮助学生回答。
4. 请学生运用想象力说出他们心目中幸福岛的样子。
What do you think we can see on the island? 教师帮助学生用“There are ...”“We can see ...”“We can do ...” “The sky is ...”“The birds are ...”等句型进行回答。
5. Do they want to go to Happy Island? Let’s keep on reading.教师请学生们读第一段文章。
小组讨论后回答问题：Can they go by plane? Can they go by ship? 然后，教师领读第二段，指导学生带感情地朗读课文。
注意dangerous的读音。
6. 教师引导学生朗读第三、四段，问时回答：How can Ted go to Happy Island?

教师请一位学生到前面，用动作表演出课文中的一个句子，其他学生快速说出这个句子。
活动二：学说chant。
教师领读chant中的词组：go straight on, turn left, turn right，然后教师说出动词短语，学生快速做动作。
请发音清楚的学生指挥，教师播放音乐，请学生边拍手边按照音乐节奏说chant，随着音乐的快慢改变说唱的频率。
Step 4: Consolidation
1. 请学生跟录音读Let’s chant中的歌谣，小组比赛。
也可以男女学生比赛。
2. 请学生以小组为单位，分角色扮演Read and write中的小故事，然后在班级表演出来。
如果学生背诵有困难，可以设提示员，帮助提醒单词或句子。
3. 请有能力的学生复述课文Read and write中的主要内容。
如果学生不能背诵可以朗读。
4. 学生利用Reward time小组合作，进行自我评价。
小组同学轮流完成教材中给出的任务，然后在书上画出笑脸。
有困难的同学可以在其他同学的帮助下完成。
