The scale and scope of cooperation has been enlarged, and the cooperation is rich in contents and takes various forms. The two countries are strongly complementary in economy, closely linked and highly interdependent.At this moment, we are experiencing a rarely seen financial crisis. With the world economy mired in the worst situation since the Great Depression of the last century, China is facing severe challenges in economic development, and China-US trade and economic cooperation has also been affected. As a responsible major country, China has taken a positive and responsible attitude in the crisis. It has decisively adopted a stimulus package and identified domestic demand expansion as the basic standing point of economic growth. All those signs suggest that positive changes have taken place in the Chinese economy and the situation is better than expected. The steady development of Ch ina’s economy will provide other countries with more opportunities and jobs, and will help boost confidence in the world economy.The Chinese side places great emphasis on China-US trade and economic cooperation. Last April, MOFCOM and relevant chambers of commerce and trade associations organized a series of promoting activities in 16 cities of 14 states in the US,attended by 197 entrepreneurs representing 84 companies from China. Those activities included over 60 economic and trade forums, signing of agreements on trade and investment projects and investment environment study tours. The signed trade and investment agreements involved a total value of US$ 18.34 billion. During the visit of Wu Bangguo, NPC Standing Committee Chairman, to the US early this month, 41 cooperation agreements were signed between Chinese and American companies with a total value of US$ 12.4 billion. That has fully testified to the unequivocal commitment of the Chinese government to opposing trade protectionism with real action and responding to the crisis with strengthened cooperation in the difficult situation.Dear friends,Cooperation is the only right choice for us to tackle the crisis in today’s world of in-depth globalization. Under whatever circumstances, both sides should treat and deal with China-US economic and trade ties from a strategic height and a long-term perspective. 正确翻译英文药品说明书才可使本国消费者了解和熟悉药品的药理作用、用法、用量、适应症及禁忌。
药品说明书的特点
药品说明书作为医学翻译的一部分,自然也具备客观性、准确性和严密性的特点,不仅功能性强,而且目的明确,主要是为了指导医生与患者了解和熟悉药品的药理作用、用法、用量、适应症及禁忌等,从而达到合理用药、治病救人的目的。
因此,译文要做到结构紧凑,简洁明了,准确无误。
英文药品说明书大多包括以下内容:(1)药品名称(DrugNames);(2)性状(Description);(3)药理作用(PharmacologicalAction);(4)适应症(Indications);(5)禁忌症(Contraindica —tions);(6)用法与用量(Administration and Dosage);(7)不良反应(Adverse Reaction);(8)注意事项(Precautions);(9)包装(Package);(1o)贮存(Storage);(11)其他项目(Others)。
英文药品说明书是科技英语的一个变体,属于专门用途英语(English for Special Purposes)的范畴,其语言结构比较简单。
但同时又具有其特殊的语言特征。
其特殊性主要表现在词汇和句法上。
药品说明书的语言大量使用名词及采用名词化结构来替代从句或句子,使句子结构简化。
例如:recovery phase(恢复期),alcohol intoxications(酒精中毒)等。
另外.文药品说明书晦涩难懂。
难懂的单词大部分是直接或间接来自于拉丁和希腊文。
例如:Hemorrhage(bleed—ing)(出血)。
缩略词被大量运用在药品说明书中。
从类别上看,缩略词可大致分为三大类:一是国际计量单位的缩写,如:
mg(milligram)(毫克),ml(milliliter)(毫升),kg(kilogram)(千克)。
第二类是首字母的缩写,如:HIV(Human Immune deficiencv Virus),B.P.(British Pharmacopoeia)。
第三类单词的部分缩写.如:approx(approximate)(大致,大约),fev(fever)(发烧)。
为了明确描述的对象,英文药品说明书使用大量非限定动词(用现在分词和过去分词作定语、不定式作目的状语等)现象非常普遍:经常使用情态动词should,may,must,can等;广泛使用被动语态和一般现在时态.使表达更为客观:较多使用省略句、虚拟语气和条件状语从句等。
药品说明书的翻译策略
(1)直译
直译是最常见、最重要的翻译方法。
就是在译文语言条件许可时,在译文中既保持原文的内容,又保持原文的形式。
这种翻译方法满足了翻译目的论的忠实法则,使译文在信息传递和功能对等上完全忠实于原文。
汉语和英语在药品说明书中的对等率很高。
如,“Information available at present suggeststhat 0ncovin may be useful either alone or in COnjunction with0ther onocolytic drugs for the treatment of acute leukemia.(现有资料表明,硫酸长春新碱可单独使用,亦可与其他溶瘤细胞药物合用。
以治疗急性白血病。
)”原句中的“either ⋯or⋯”对应译为“可⋯⋯亦可⋯⋯”,介词短语“forthetreatment of acute leukemia”在原句中作目的状语,在译文中也作了同等结构的处理.即“以治疗急性白血病”。
(2)转译
当“忠实原则”不能完全实现时,为了使译文能准确、通顺地表达原文的思想,译者必须对原文的表现形式作必要的调整.使之合乎译文的习惯。
根据翻译目的论的“连贯法则”,转译是不必拘泥与原文对等而影响译文在译人语文化环境中的。
药品说明书翻译的用途
药品说明书的翻译如同其他说明书翻译一样,有着非同小可的作用,药品说明书翻译的用途主要提现在以下三个方面:
1、在临床医学方面,药品说明书是重要的医疗参考文件,是医生开写处方和药师配发药品的依据之一;
2、在药学科研方面,是极其重要的药物情报来源;
3、在法律上,药品说明书可以做医疗事故诉讼裁判的法律文件。
药品说明书翻译的发展
翻译的项目由简到繁。
以前的药品说明书英文翻译不过三、四项内容:药名、成份、适应证、剂量用法已足。
现在据美国食品药物管理局(FDA)规定说明书内容为十项。
但据统计,目前药品说明书翻译的项目几乎都在20项以上。
翻译的内容由虚到实。
旧药品说明书的内容只报喜不报忧,只说优点不谈缺点。
此种弊病现在大有改观。
药品说明书翻译译文对药物的毒性、副作用、禁忌证、告诫事项和注意事项都讲得比较充分。
