My teaching Story—How to deal with accidents in classBy Eric TsangAs a male English teacher, I was wondering how I can really be an effective teacher. It was the most difficult question I was facing when I came to this school in 2002. I can still recall the moment when I held my first open class. It was really a disaster for me at that moment. I learned something about discipline, the theory of how to get pupils under control. But when I was actually there, I met with something completely different. It was a gloomy Monday. And I was ready to talk about pets in Primary One. There were lots of colleagues and friends sitting in, observing my class. I perfected the details on about my teaching plan, my plan was to start with a song, introduce greetings, afterwards lead in to new contents with TPR actions.I helped the kids with the actions. At that moment, a boy, who looked naughty, suddenly shouted out loudly: “Mr Zeng, hee, hee, hee touched my private parts”. The whole class burst into laughter. My face was red and my audience made me extremely nervous. “What should I do?”I took a deep breath, trying hard to force out a decision that will help me control the class. How can I deal with this situation of that embarrassing moment? I completely lost my mind, and then I shouted it out to the naughty kid: “go back to your seat and shut your mouth!”The kid I shouted at was innocent, but apparently I hurt him. You can imagine, the class spiraled into a mess by the end.For a new teacher, you know, it’s really uneasy to carry out the teaching plan, let alone the accidents in classroom. So after the class, I asked the kid tocome to my office, however, once there he was crying, continuously sobbing and he never stopped. I was there but I didn’t know how to comfort him. One of my colleagues came and hugged the kid with her arms, then swept the tears with a question in order to distract him from his sadness. “How many teachers are there in this office?” she asked. Such a simple question, yet the kid stopped sobbing, counted the numbers of teachers. I was shocked. It was really amazing. She had the magic to lead the kid out of grief. Then the kid started to talk about the details in the class. After I knew the truth, I really regretted my action to what happened. It was just a small incident but because of my bad temper and impatience, it became so much more than it should been.My colleague showed me how to lead the kid from negative emotions to a positive one. In other words, to accept pupils’emotion and respond properly, then you can save yourself from the crises. Even now, Such an accident will clearly stay in my mind clearly. I warn myself all the time: be a patient teacher, Stand on the side of the kids, and then you may know the truth. Be more tolerant, be more patient, love your kids then the kids will love you back. That is to call: positive psychology.。

Growing up, I always had a passion for learning and a deep fascination with the English language. From a young age, I was captivated by the power of words, the nuances of grammar, and the ability to express oneself through written communication. This love for the English language ultimately led me to pursue a career as a high school English teacher, a journey that has been both rewarding and transformative. My own educational journey began in a small town where I attended a public high school. While the resources and opportunities were limited, I was fortunate to have a few exceptional teachers who ignited my love for literature and writing. These educators recognized my potential and challenged me to push the boundaries of my abilities. They encouraged me to delve into classic works of fiction, to analyze complex themes, and to hone my writing skills. One teacher, in particular, stands out in my memory. Mrs. Johnson, my 10th-grade English teacher, was a true inspiration. Her infectious enthusiasm for the subject matter and her unwavering belief in herstudents' capabilities created an environment that fostered intellectual growth and a genuine appreciation for the written word. Under her guidance, I discovered the joy of close reading, the power of persuasive essays, and the art of crafting compelling narratives.Mrs. Johnson's teaching style was a perfect blend of rigor and compassion. She demanded excellence from her students, but she also recognized that each individual learned and expressed themselves differently. She would take the time to provide personalized feedback, offering constructive criticism and practical strategies to help us improve. Her dedication and genuine care for our academic and personal development were truly inspiring. As I progressed through high school, my passion for English only grew stronger. I eagerly participated in extracurricular activities, such as the school's literary magazine and the debate team, further honing my skills and deepening my understanding of the subject matter. These experiences not only enriched my academic life but also instilled in me a sense of confidence and a desire to share my knowledge with others.Upon graduating from high school, I knew that my path would lead me back to the classroom, but this time as an educator rather than a student. I enrolled in a prestigious university, where I pursued a degree in English literature with a focus on secondary education. Therigorous coursework, combined with hands-on teaching experiences in local high schools, prepared me for the challenges and responsibilities of being a high school English teacher.During my time in college, I had the opportunity to observe and learn from a diverse array of educators, each with their unique teaching styles and approaches. I was fascinated by the ways in which they were able to captivate their students, foster critical thinking, and cultivate a love for the written word. These experiences, coupled with my own passion for the subject matter, solidified my determination to become an exceptional English teacher.Upon completing my studies, I was eager to put my skills and knowledge into practice. I was fortunate to secure a position at a high-performing public high school in a vibrant urban community. The first few years were challenging, as I navigated the complexities of lesson planning, classroom management, and the diverse needs of my students. However, with each passing year, I grew more confident and adept at my craft. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is the opportunity to witness the transformative power of education. I have seen shy, reluctant students blossom into confident, articulate young adults, captivated by the beauty of language and the depth of literary analysis. It is a privilege to play a role in shaping the intellectual andpersonal growth of my students, to help them discover the joy of reading, and to empower them to express themselves with clarity and conviction. As a high school English teacher, I have also had the privilege of collaborating with a talented and dedicated team of educators. We work tirelessly to develop engaging curricula, to implement innovative teaching strategies, and to provide our students with the resources they need to succeed. Together, we strive to create a learning environment that is both academically rigorous and emotionally supportive, one that nurtures the unique talents and aspirations of each individual.Beyond the classroom, I have also had the opportunity to contribute to the broader educational community. I have participated in professional development workshops, presented at local and national conferences, and even co-authored a few academic publications. These experiences have not only enhanced my own teaching practice but have also allowed me to share my passion for English education with a wider audience.Looking back on my journey, I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude and pride. The path to becoming a high school English teacher has been challenging, but the rewards have been immeasurable. I am grateful for the mentors and educators who haveinspired me along the way, and I am humbled by the opportunity to pay it forward by inspiring and empowering the next generation of students. As I continue on this rewarding career path, I am constantly reminded of the profound impact that education can have on individuals and communities. With each lesson I teach, each essay I grade, and each conversation I have with my students, I am reminded of the transformative power of the written word and the importance of fostering a love for language and literature. In conclusion, my journey as a high school English teacher has been a testament to the transformative power of education. It has been a journey filled with challenges, growth, and the immense satisfaction of witnessing the intellectual and personal development of my students. As I look towards the future, I am excited to continue this rewarding work, to inspire and empower the next generation of learners, and to play a role in shaping a more literate and articulate society.。

Good morning! It is my great honor to stand before you today to share with you an inspiring story of a teacher who has made a significant impact on the lives of her students. This story is not just about the teacher, but also about the power of education and the transformativerole it plays in shaping the future of our society. The teacher's name is Ms. Li, a dedicated and passionate educator whohas spent over two decades in the field of education. She teachesEnglish at a rural primary school in China, where the resources are limited and the challenges are immense. Despite these circumstances, Ms. Li has managed to create a vibrant and nurturing learning environmentthat has touched the hearts and minds of her students.Ms. Li's journey began many years ago, when she first stepped into the classroom as a fresh graduate. She was filled with enthusiasm and a strong belief in the transformative power of education. However, she quickly realized that the reality of teaching in a rural school was far from what she had imagined. The lack of resources, the lack ofmotivation among some students, and the high dropout rates were just a few of the challenges she had to face.Despite these challenges, Ms. Li never gave up. She knew that every student had the potential to learn and grow, and it was herresponsibility to help them unlock that potential. She started by improving the learning environment. She organized small group discussions, encouraged students to participate in class, and used creative teaching methods to make learning fun and engaging. She also spent her own money to buy books and educational materials for her students. One day, Ms. Li noticed a particularly bright student named Xiao Ming. Xiao Ming was always eager to learn and had a natural talent for English. However, Xiao Ming's family was poor, and he often had to work on the farm to help support his family. Ms. Li realized that Xiao Ming's education was at risk, and she decided to take matters into her own hands. She started a small scholarship program for Xiao Ming and other students from low-income families. She collected donations from her friends and colleagues, and together they managed to provide scholarships forseveral students. Ms. Li also spent time with Xiao Ming, helping himwith his studies and offering him emotional support. She encouraged him to dream big and never give up on his education. As the years went by, Xiao Ming's performance improved significantly. He became one of the top students in the class and even won a national English competition. Xiao Ming's success story was not an isolated incident. Many of Ms. Li's students have gone on to achieve great things, thanks to her dedication and hard work.Ms. Li's approach to teaching goes beyond just imparting knowledge. She believes in the importance of fostering a love for learning andnurturing the whole person. She encourages her students to think critically, ask questions, and develop their own opinions. She also emphasizes the importance of character and moral values, teaching her students to be kind, compassionate, and responsible citizens.Ms. Li's story is a testament to the power of education and the impact that one dedicated teacher can have on the lives of her students. Her passion for teaching and her unwavering commitment to her students have inspired many to follow in her footsteps and make a difference in the world.Ladies and gentlemen, let us take a moment to reflect on the role of teachers in our lives. Teachers are not just educators; they are mentors, guides, and role models. They have the power to shape the future of our society by nurturing the next generation of leaders, innovators, and change-makers.In conclusion, I want to share a quote from Ms. Li: "Education is notjust about teaching students to read and write. It is about teaching them to dream, to believe in themselves, and to make a positivedifference in the world." Let us all be inspired by Ms. Li's story and strive to be the kind of teachers who can make a lasting impact on the lives of our students.Thank you.。

Teaching is not just a job for me, it's a passion. I have been teaching for over 10 years and have had countless experiences that have shaped me into the teacher I am today. One of my most memorable experiences was with a student who struggled with reading. She was in 3rd grade and was significantly behind her peers. I worked with her one-on-one every day after school for several months. It was aslow process, but eventually, she started to make progress. One day, she came to me with a book and said, "Look, I can read this now!" It was a magical moment for both of us. I will never forget the pride and joy I felt in that moment.Another experience that stands out to me was when I taught a group of high school students who were all English language learners. They came from different countries and spoke different languages, but they all shared a commongoal of wanting to improve their English skills. I had toget creative with my teaching methods to ensure that they were all engaged and learning. We played games, watched movies, and had conversations about their cultures. It was a fun and challenging experience, but seeing their progress over the course of the year was incredibly rewarding.Teaching is not always easy, but it is always worth it. Seeing my students succeed and grow is the greatest reward of all.

他的一句“it’s okay to make mistakes”让我倍感温暖。
