Like the time my best friend started dating my crush without telling me – that was a whole ordeal, let me tell you.Despite all the craziness, there are also plenty of fun moments that make being in 8th grade worthwhile. Like the school dances, where we all get dressed up and attempt todance without looking like complete dorks (spoiler alert: we all look like dorks, but we embrace it). Or the class field trips, where we get to escape the confines of the classroom and explore the world around us.And let's not forget about the anticipation of high school looming on the horizon. It's both exciting and terrifying at the same time. Will I make new friends? Will I be able to handle the workload? Will I finally get my braces off? (Please, please let me get my braces off!)But amidst all the chaos and uncertainty, there's one thing I can count on – the unwavering support of my family. My parents, as annoying as they can be sometimes, are always there to listen to my rants, offer advice, and remind me that this too shall pass. And my younger siblings, well, they're just a constant source of entertainment and frustration (but mostly entertainment).So, there you have it – a glimpse into the life of an 8th grader. It's a wild ride filled with laughter, tears, and plenty of awkward moments. But hey, that's what makes it so memorable, right? I'm an 8th grade student, and I've been learning English for quite a few years now. It's been quite a journey, let me tell you! Just recently, we started a new unit in our English textbook that I found really interesting. It's all about different cultures and traditions around the world.In the first part of the unit, we learned about various festivals and celebrations from different countries. We read about Diwali in India, Chinese New Year, Brazil's Carnival, and so many more. It was really cool getting to learn about the history behind each celebration and all the unique traditions involved. Some of the stories of how these events started were just fascinating!My favorite festival we covered was probably Holi, the festival of colors in India. The way they celebrate by throwing colorful powder and water at each other just seems like so much fun! I can't even imagine how amazing the scenes of entire cities filled with vibrant colors must look. We watched some videos of Holi celebrations in class, and it seriously looked like a party I'd love to be a part of one day. Maybe when I'm older I can try to experience it for myself if I get a chance to travel to India.In the next part of the unit, we moved on to learning about different cuisines from around the globe. I have to admit, this was probably my favorite section because, well, who doesn't love food? We learned about dishes like sushi from Japan, pad thai from Thailand, pizza from Italy, and more. My mouth was basically watering the entire time reading about all these delicious foods!What really struck me was how many foods we eat regularly, even here in our town, actually originated from other cultures. Things like hotdogs, hamburgers, tacos, etc. - they all came from somewhere else originally before becoming such common american foods. It made me appreciate how connected our world is through the sharing and spreading of cultures over time.We even did an awesome project where we had to pick a country and research a traditional dish from there. Then, we actually got to try making the dish ourselves! Our teacher set up a little cooking station in the classroom, and we worked in groups to cook up the various cultural foods we had chosen. The smells wafting through the room were absolutely mouthwatering. I attempted a Spanish paella, and while it was a bit tricky to make, it turned out deliciously!After foods, we then learned about the art, music, and dance of various cultures. This was another super interesting part of the unit for me. We learned about aboriginal art from Australia, traditional dances from Africa, K-pop music from South Korea, and so much more. Getting to watch videos of people performing some of the cultural dances was probably my favorite part. The costumes and choreography were just mesmerizing.I have to say, I've gained such an appreciation for the diversity of traditions and art forms around the world. Before this unit, I didn't really know much about any of it. But now I feel like I have a better understanding of how rich and unique all the various cultures of the world are. It's pretty amazing to me that people from opposite ends of the the globe can have such vastly different ways of celebrating, eating, expressing themselves through art and dance, and more. Humanity is awesome like that!One of the biggest things I've taken away from this unit is the importance of keeping an open mind and being accepting of different cultural practices. A few times, I'd read about a tradition that seemed pretty strange or bizarre to me at first. But then I'd remember that it's just what is normal and accepted in thatculture, even if it's different than what I'm used to. We all have our own unique traditions and ways of life that might seem strange to outsiders. Once I started looking at it from that perspective, I could appreciate the beauty in those cultural differences rather than judge them.Overall, this unit on world cultures has been an awesome experience! I've learned so much about the amazing diversity of our world's people and traditions. While we may look different, speak different languages, and have different customs, it's given me a bigger appreciation for how we're all human at the core. We're more alike than we are different in many ways.I'm really grateful that I've had the opportunity to explore and learn about so many rich cultures through this unit. It's opened my eyes to the importance of acceptance,open-mindedness, and celebrating our differences rather than dividing ourselves because of them. Who knows, maybe I'll end up being an anthropologist or cultural studies expert someday so I can keep learning about all the awesome cultures around the world! For now though, I've got to get back to studying for that quiz on traditions from the Mediterranean region...wish me luck!。

“冬天来了,春天还会远吗?”每当挨到一年中的最后一个季节-----冬,我都会想起这句话,急切盼望春天的到来。

我爱春天。

春天代表着绿色,绿色却又代表着生机与活力,代表着旺盛的生命力,代表着春天的来临。

我爱春天。

春天万物复苏,小草也越发变得葱绿了,到处呈现一派欣欣向荣,生机勃勃的景象。

在远处看时感觉嫩绿嫩绿的,而走到近处时,却看不出一点儿绿。

这大概就是韩愈所说的“草色遥看近却无”吧!
我爱春天。

再看那边,一头头肥壮的牛正欢快地拉着犁、唱着歌,好象在欢迎春天的到来!
春雨来了。

春雨是春天的“乐队”,“沙,沙……”它流进田里,田里的秧苗一下子就挺直了腰;黄花菜显得更有精神……农民伯伯站在屋檐下,望着田地笑,眼前仿佛出现一派丰收的景象!
回远处望去,田野里只有黄澄澄的油菜花,绿油油的秧苗,单调极了。
