Lesson20 I Like the Supermarket!According to the key competence, we should develop students’basic language competence and cultural characters as well as thinking qualities and learning abilities. The content of Unit4 is about food and restaurants.Lesson20 is the 2nd lesson of the unit. It’s a dialogue, which is about shopping at the supermarket with a shopping list. Such a topic is meaningful for students and it’s related to students’daily life. The students in Grade Seven are curious about new things. They are eager to solve problems by themselves and they are willing to cooperate with their partners.Therefore, based on the analysis above, the five-dimensional aims are as follows.By the end of the lesson, students are expected to achieve these aims:Ⅰ. Teaching aims:1. Knowledge aims:①Students can pronounce and use the words and expressions about shopping under the teacher’s guidance fluently.②Students can tell the differences between countable and uncountable words by finding the rules.2. Ability aims:①Students can listen and get information by grasping the key words correctly.②Besides, students can talk about buying things at the supermarket with the target language.(What would you like to buy…?/I would like to buy…)3. Learning strategies:①Students can share their own shopping experiences actively in class.②Students can learn from others by cooperating at the same time.4. Emotion, attitude and value:①To develop students’interest on making different kinds of lists.②To reflect on students habits on shopping.③To make positive decisions on buying things at the supermarket.5. Cultural awareness:①Making lists is the beginning of success.②Care for others’feelings when buying things.Ⅱ.Teaching importance and difficulty:In order to realize the teaching aims,students need to get an overall understanding of the dialogue. This is the important point of the lesson. While talking about their shopping experiences with others, students need to conclude the ideas and express from different angles, which is the difficult point.Ⅲ. Teaching procedures:Step1.Lead in: Guessing gameIt’s a place where you can buy almost everything, such as donuts, cookies and chocolate.What is it? It is a piece of paper that you often write down things when you go shopping.(donuts, cookies,chocolate, supermarket, shopping list) (Purpose:Activate students interest on the topic and create a relaxing atmosphere; To deal with the new words. )Step2.Pre-listening: Free talk1.What do you need to have when you go shopping?2.Whom do you often go shopping with?3.Do you like going to the supermarket with him/her ? Why?4.What do they often buy at the supermarket?(Purpose:Activate students’own cognition about the topic and pave the way for listening.)Step3.While-listeningIn this part, I’ll give students several tasks to guide students to listen for the key information and get an overall understanding of the text. Task1.Listenand answer. (Part2)Mrs. Dinosaur and Danny shop at the supermarket.1.What do they have on their list?eggs, apples, bananas,donuts, cookies ; milk, bread, chicken, fish, meat, chocolate2.Why does Mrs.Dinosaur smile when she looks at Danny ? Can you predict what happened? Maybe…(Purpose:To cultivate students’logical and creative thinking qualities.)Task2.Listenand check.( Part1)1.Whose list isit?2.What would Danny like to buy?3.What would Danny’s mum like to buy?(Purpose:To check students’predictions.To have a better understanding of the story.)Task3.Listenfor thinking.(Listen to the whole story.)1.What do you think of Danny?/ Mrs.Dinosaur?He is_________./He is a ______ boy. We have everything on our list”?I think________________________________.(Purpose:To develop students’critical thinking qualities.)Step4.Post-listening.A shopping list for mumAfter getting home, Danny found that mum buys everything for the family and Danny. She didn’t buy anything for herself at all. Hefelt sorry to his mum. Suppose you are Danny, what would you like to buy for your mum ? (Purpose:Practice and use the target language.)Step5.Summary.What did we learn from the lesson?would like to do; list; selfless; honest(Purpose:Strengthen students’knowledge about shopping.Help students improve their ability of concluding and put what they have learned into practice.)Step6. Homework.1.Read the dialogue fluently.2.Make a shopping list for your parents and make up a new dialogue with them in English.(Purpose: Encourage studentsto do something meaningful by using what they have learned in class. )Ⅳ.Teaching approaches:In order to build a student-centered class, I’ll mainly use the task-based teaching method and communicative teaching method.For example, in pre-listening part, I’ll communicate with students to help students get familiar with the topic. In while-listening part, I’ll givestudents tasks to guide students to listen and get information by grasping the key words. Besides, I’ll organize a competition and use PPT to make the class active and efficient.Ⅴ. Learning methods:Giving students methods is more important than giving them knowledge. Therefore, I’ll guide students to develop their listening skills and speaking strategies. Before listening, students get familiar with the topic by free talk. While listening, students learn to listen and grasp key information by themselves with the help of the tasks and develop their listening skills. After listening, students learn to conclude and talk about making shopping lists for their parents by cooperating with their partners.These are the main learning methods students will use this class.。
