本系列所选用的都是些有关制度的词语，这些制度都
是我国实行改革开放以来出现的新事物，是具有中国
特色的新制度，与西方发达国家的有关制度不一定对
应或不一定完全对应。翻译时一般都用意译，不过像
养老保险、户籍管理、政府采购、医疗保险等词语都
有比较固定的译法。尽管如此，如果要让西方人真正

第七节 现代汉语时新词语英译
这些时新词语，在报刊杂志上、在电影电视中、 在领导人的讲话里、在各种文件和报告中，屡 见不鲜，有时甚至叠床架屋。译者虽然能将大 意翻译出来，但与世界通行的政治经济语言不 甚吻合，难以使国外的听众与读者了解其真正 含义，尤其是在刚刚出现的时候。因为，接受 一个新词语是一个渐进的过程。刚刚出现的时 候，有必要费些笔墨予以介绍，久而久之就成 了外国人耳熟能详的词语了。所以在一定的上 下文中，在一定的语境里，译者必须针对听众 或读者的语言和文化，针对他们的接受水平， 决定是否对这些词语作适当的翻译调整，以达 到预期的效果。
