Environment protection has fast become an extrmely serious challenge to our government since the open door policy was implemented some thirty years ago.Our country's economic growth over the last two decades has undoubtedly changed our nation in various ways, other than the facts that: the concept of peoples' thinking has thoroughly changed (洗心革面).their way of life has also made a thoroughgoing transformation (脱胎换骨), however, these two changes perhaps wouldn't harm your physical health and they have no direct effect on the populations of other nations.What everyone of ous , wherever one lives, is gravely concerned about is the increasingly polluted environment; the knock-on effect on our air quality, our rivers,and numerous other things has adversely affected our life.How to get a perfect balance between economic growth and protecting our environment has put our government into a dilemma from which they haven't quite managed to extricate.Our government could, to a certain extent, control and improve the environment. This had been shown around the time of the Beijing Olympic Games. But it takes two to tango, therefore the people have to do their part: by not polluting our rivers,chopping down our trees,and by not using their cars unnecessarily etc.,I urge our people and government to take action, before it is too late, to protect the environment if only for the sake our children and the successive generations.Environmental problems are becoming more and more serious all over the world. Trees on the hills have been cut down and waste water is being poured continuously into rivers.Furthermore, wherever we go today, we can find rubbish carelessly disposed. Pollution is, in fact, threatening our existence.The earth is our home and we have the duty to take care of it for ourselves and for our later generations. Fortunately, more and more people have realized these problems. Measures have been taken to cope with these problems by the government. Laws have been passed to stop pollution. I hope the problem will be solved in the near future and our home will become better and better.全世界的环境问题变得越来越严重。

Environmental problems are becoming more and more serious all over the world. With the development of industry and agriculture, cars make great noises and give off poisonous gas. Trees on the hills have been cut down,and waste water is being poured continuously into rivers. Furthermore,wherever we go today, we can find rubbish carelessly disposed. The whole ecological balance of the earth is changing. Massive destruction of environment has brought about negative effects and even poses a great threat to man's existence.We must face the situation that exists and take actions to solve our environmental problems. For instance, new laws must be passed to place strict control over industrial pollution, the pub!ic must receive the education about the hazard of pollution and so on. Protect Our EnvironmentIt is important to beal with the rubbish in cities.Our world was colorful,beautiful and full of life. But these years, people have built many factories along rivers. Many trees have been cut down. Many animals have lost their homes. Factories cause pollution. Rivers become polluted.As a student, you should do every things in your everyday life to protect them.First, stop wasting more water.Second, throw waste things into different dustbins. For example, waste paper should be throw into paper recyclable bins.Third, stop cutting down trees. Instead, plant more.Fourth, pick up garbage in the park or on the road when we are free.Last, call on more and more people to pay attention to contrlling pollution.In a word, everybody has his duty to protect the world.Wind blows up bags higher and higher in the sky. It is a scary thought that some day the earth will turn into a huge garbage land. Wastes, if not treated properly, will make our life a living nightmare The environmental issue is getting worse almost every day in cities with very large population. As is often the case, city development outpaces environmental protection. People consume great amount of natural resouces and produce wastes. To effectively address such problems, cities need to spend big money. In addition, they need to call to the attention of people to become more environmentally responsible.Many people are becoming less responsible and easily influenced by bad behaviors. “Why should I care while others don’t care?” Such idea makes some people only concern with places where they live and work. Furthermore, people sometimes even purposely litter for revenge to other people.Although media promotes environmental awareness, good people are often snubbed as posers who try to set up a superior image in real life. Consequently, they are intimated of receiving negative comments for doing the right thing. Wrong as it is, such phenomenon is widespread especially among youngsters and people with low income and little education.However, our society is waging a campaign against environmental pollution. People learn the harms of undegradable lunch boxes and other polluting wastes. Laws in many countries prohibit or limit excessive use of polluting bags. Companies are continuely replacing the old materials with more environmental friendly and recyclable kinds. Scientists have developed more effective technologies in waste treatment. As time goes by, more and more people put high priority on the protection of environment for a healthier life.To sum up, people produce huge amount of garbage and the environment is seriously polluted because of lack of financial resources, sense of responsibility, or efforts. Therefore, the environment around us is becoming worse and worse.Do you often use batteries? Then do you know it takes 50 times more energy to make them than they produce? And just one simple battery can pollute as much water as a person can drink in his whole life. The facts and figures are amazing. So would you please try to use batteries only when it is necessary? If possible, give the used ones to the recycling companies so that they will be made into new ones and won’t be able to pollute the environment any more. Sometimes we become complacent when it comes to recycling, but when you speak in terms of actual facts and figures that everybody can understand, people become much clearer about the problem.We, as school students, can also join in recycling activities to protect the environment. For example, our class set up a recycling center beside the back door, it is very useful. It is used to collect the waste paper and plastic bottles. In the past, our classmates used to throw all of these into the trashcan. At the very beginning of this collecting activity, it was not so warm-welcomed. Later, more and more people were influenced by the others and joined this collecting activity.Gradually, all the students in our class form a good habit to protect the environment. I felt there was a terrible smell and went over to have a look carefully. I found that there was a big pile of banana skins giving out the smell.Just then a young fellow holding a dustpan rubbish to walk towards here . He raised his hands, The big pile of rubbish was here. At once I went to him and said “Uncle , you can’t do like this . These things will rot very soon. It’s bad for our health and make the people fall ill.” However ,the man said “Everyone does so ,who falls ill,who will see the doctor.”Looking at this , I remembered another act : There is a stream through our village. Over it there are two bridges .At the age of seven years old , I enjoyed the beautiful scenery under the bridge very much. It was the best place to swim in summer. But now the rubbish was getting more and more .Dish leaves,fruit skins,dead ducks and chickens….after rotting ,not only the mosquitos flew around but also the bad smell made everyone feel quite terrible.Though the stream was cleaned up several times, it’s still happening now. A lot of plastic bags always float on it .In summmer we have to go far away from the village to swim.What causes this? Who is the devil?It’s the human ourselves. I have got to known from a book .The rubbish in the countryside mostly occupies the fields and damages the earth’s surface .It pollutes soil,wave ,atmosphere and damages our health. The adults often say “The body is capital.” But why are they able to make woollen cloth like this ?Does it affect everybody’s safe and sound life ?Schoolmates, we are the host of society tomorrow . One of the most serious problems is the serious pollution of air, water and soil. the polluted air does great harm to people’s health. The polluted water causes diseases and death. Legislative steps have been introduced to control air pollution, to protect the forest and sea resources and to stop any environmental pollution.
