1 Computer people talk a lot about the need for other people to become “computer-literate.” But not all experts agree that this is a good idea. One pioneer in particular, who disagrees, is David Tebbutt, the founder of Computertown UK. Although many people see this as a successful attempt to bring people closer to the computer, David does not see it that way. He says that Computertown JK was formed for just the opposite reason, to bring computers to people and make them people----literate.The underlined word “it” in the second paragraph refers to the idea thatComputertowns________(NMET19999-58)A help to set up more computer clubsB bring people to learn to use computersC bring more experts to work togetherD help to sell computers to the public解析:全文是在谈论如何普及电脑,使学习电脑变得容易的问题,此处的it指的是上文的 To bring people closer to the computer.

3.根据复合词的各部分猜测词义 例 如 : Growing economic problems were highlighted by a slowdown in oil output. Bullfight is very popular in Spain. Bull(公牛)和fight(打,搏 斗)结合在一起,指一种在西班牙颇为流行的体育 运动——斗牛。
Insecticide is applied where it is needed. Then the vapor may change into droplets.
He fell into a ditch and lay there, semiconscious, for a few minutes. 根据词 根conscious(清醒的,有意识的),结合前 缀semi(半,部分的,不完全的), 我们便 可猜出semiconscious词义“半清醒的,半昏 迷的”。 I'm illiterate about such things.

and read intelligently. 此例中“the study of the meaning of words” 与前面生词semantics是同位关系,猜出 semantics指“语义学”。 eg. Capacitance, or the ability to store electric charge, is one of the most common characteristics of electronic circuits。 在复述中构成同位关系的两部分之间多用逗 号连接,同位语前常有or, similarly, that is to say, in other words, namely, or other, say i.e.等副词或短语出现。
eg. He fell into a ditch and lay there, semiconscious, for a few minutes. 根据词根conscious(清醒的,有意 识的),结合前缀semi(半,部分的, 不完全的),便可猜出semiconscious词 义“半清醒的,半昏迷的”。 eg. I'm illiterate about such things.
eg. Tom is considered an autocratic administrator because he makes decisions without seeking the opinions of others. eg. There were so many demonstrators in the Red Square that he had to elbow his way through the crowd.

The underlined word "Change" in the second paragraph means _______.A. IdeaB. DecisionC. CupsD. Coins[原文] So she made it easy, placing cups in rooms where students could leave their spare coins, and handing out cups to first-year students to keep in their rooms. Her "Change for Change" effort has collected $ 40,000 for charities(慈善机构) , which were decided upon by students.[解析]根据上文她把杯子放在学生宿舍里收集硬币,以及下文中谈到已经为慈善机构募集到了$ 40,000可知,Change应是Coins(硬币)。
