Recently, I have watched a TV show whose name is Modern Family, It talks about the life of American family, In the episode 1 of season 10, It’s national day in America. The drama shows life of three family this day. In the first family, they are very happy for the day is reach, the old daddy is excited because he got the chance to become the grand marshal and respond for the parades today. But his wife isn’t happy today, because his son can’t reach her in time for his fear of driving through the bridge. She performed bad in the parades.
two man are ready to record the video of the little boy for his mother who is in jail, however, the little boy can’t even sing a n alphabet song. How’s t he two man do? They try to use some shooting skill like editing to make the boy’s performance looks better, then, they failed.
In the second family, the son is choosing some classer for college, At the same time, there will be a parent/child hot-dog-eating context today, which he and his father will both attend. They have been training for weeks, the father encouraged the son that they will defeat the team who has never defeated. However, the kid could not focus on the context because he needed to consider which class to choose.
Through out the three family, we can know that all of them meet some trouble, but the story isn’t end here.
The mum in the fist family has some Fourth of July tradition with his some, like sharing a slice of apple pie and watch the fireworks, which started from her son is born, it can be done today, so she felt bad. Finally, the old daddy and his big daughter prepared a great surprised to her: he gave up his chance of making a speech to make her apple pie, and buy fireworks for her, then make a video chat to her son.
The two man in the second family tried everything to find out something that the boy can do well, at last they found him is good at hugging, they accept the fact and take him to play happily.
What about the last one? The father encourage his son not to be afraid of worrying，worry means care, so the father believe him will no screw it up. The son feels better and finally the got champion.
We see the final is that everyone feeling happy this day, but what it tell us is more important.
It shows how American families face with problem, they have a relax environment, it tried to tell us, we should never give up when we meet trouble, home is our best power, families will overcome all the problem with you.
IN Chinese famil ies, we will also help each other, but what’s different? Chinese families’ atmosphere is not like America, we are not as relax as they are, if you need help, maybe
you will not say until it is too hard for you.
There are others differences , like the son and the father in the third family, they get alone well, they join the context together, training together, share the happiness and sadness together, unlike usual Chinese family, the son have no many chance to get alone with father, they usually have nothing to say, they are more like two stranger in the same family. For some reason the tradition Chinese father will not stay too close to the son.
In this episode, a different that we all know is showed, that is American family always express their love form the mouth while Chinese families are seldom to say it out.
