【摘要】1.the apple-pie order像苹果饼一样整齐关于这一习语的出处莫衷一是,但人们普遍认为这一习语起源于美国的新英格兰。
当地的妇女喜欢整齐,什么东西都井然有序,就连做苹果饼时,都要将苹果均匀地切成片儿,一排一排整整齐齐地放进饼里。
“像苹果饼一样整齐”的习语便应运而生了,以此比喻“有条不紊”、“条理分明”。

它在俗语中有“家伙,同伴”的意思,通常会在apple前加一个形容词组成新词,如:smooth apple指自认为温柔或迷人的家伙,wise apple指粗鲁无礼的年轻人。
下面介绍一些关于apple的相关习语。
1、the app le of sb’s eye亦作the apple of the eye,意为“为人钟爱的人或物(a person who is most dear to the person specified)”。
本习语源出于《圣经(Psalms,17,8)》:“Keep me as the appleof the eye,hide me under the shadow of thy wings”。
常用来喻指“掌上明珠”。
[例句]His daughter is the apple of his eye. 他将女儿视为掌上明珠。
2、Adam’s apple源自《圣经•旧约•创世纪》。
据载,人类始祖亚当在伊甸园里偷吃禁果时,一不小心将一块果肉卡在喉咙里,却又不上不下,留下一个疙瘩。
这个故事随《圣经》广泛流传,后来就用Adam’s apple表示“(男人的)喉结”。

Another belief is based on fact. The expression is "One rotten apple spoils the barrel." When an apple begins to go bad, it ruins all the other apples around it in the container. The expression has come to mean that one bad person in a group can cause everyone to act bad.
It was not an easy decision to make. How could they choose among Juno, Minerva and Venus. Paris was given the task of deciding. He decided to give the golden apple to Venus. Juno and Minerva were very angry and threatened him. This, the myth says, began the long Trojan war.
At one time, the tomato was called a love apple. That was a mistake. This is how the mistake happened.

地理文化的异同影响东西方习俗、生活的异同,表现在语言文化层面也有异同。

1.Today, we tell about the expression apple-pie order.
2.It means in perfect order, very well organized.
3.Nobody is sure where and when the expression apple-pie order began.
4.Some say that Scottish and English writers use the expression a long time ago.
5.Other say it first was used in the northeastern American states known as New England.
6.The housewives of New England cut their apples in even slices.
7.Then they filled pie pans with them in an organized way -- row upon row.
8.As one writer said, the women of New England love to have everything in its place.
9.This perhaps explains why it generally is believed that the expression Apple-Pie-Order began in
New England.
