1925年赴美留学，加入美国共产党，曾任美共中国局书记，领导旅美华侨左翼运动逾20年。
1945年联合国筹备成立期间，他协助出席大会的董必武等人开展工作。
1946年夏回国后，他先后任中共中央外事组编译处（后改名为国际宣传处）处长，上海军管会外事处副处长，华东军政委员会参事室副主任、代理主任，中共中央宣传部英译毛选委员会主任。
1954年，徐永瑛任外交部政策委员会负责人，1955年出任外交部美澳司司长。
之后，他一直为中美在波兰华沙举行的大使级马拉松式会谈而奔忙，为后来的中美关系解冻铺路清障，为中美建交作出了重大贡献。
1958年11月，他被任命为外交部顾问，1964年5月出任中国人民外交学会副会长兼党组书记。
1968年9月9日，徐永瑛因第二次脑溢血抢救无效与世长辞，终年66岁。
（一）徐永瑛的父亲徐绍滨是江西省龙南县关西镇人，幼年入过私塾，后进官学，太平天国农民运动时，被太平军一部聘为录事（书记官）。
后来他随部招安，“以军功保奏安徽补用九品，历署泰和等县典吏、洪山等州巡检、泗州吏目、直隶州州同，授安徽按察司司狱，钦加五品衔。
”徐永瑛1902年6月6日（清光绪十八年五月初一）出生于安徽怀宁（今安庆市），是徐绍滨的第12个孩子，在男丁中行七。
徐永瑛少年时代，清王朝风雨飘摇。
父亲徐绍滨同情并支持革命党人。
1908年，光复会熊成基在安庆发动起义，永瑛一表兄也投身其中，很令永瑛敬佩。
民国初年，徐永瑛先后在上海、南昌、常州上小学和中学。
在众多兄弟姊妹中，他和同母妹妹徐乐英关系最好。
徐乐英后来也加入了中国共产党，和历史学家侯外庐结为夫妻。
1916年夏。
徐永瑛考入北平清华留美预备学校。
同期入学的有周培源、冀朝鼎、施滉、胡敦元等人。
1919年5月4日爆发五四运动，对徐永瑛震动很大，之后他也参加了爱国学生运动。

爱是石，擦然生命之火；爱是火，点亮生命之灯；爱是灯，带领我们走向光明。
同在一片蓝天下，却有着截然不同的境遇。
远在甘肃兰州大山里的孤寡老人和留守儿童，没有肉吃，没有面吃，一袋米吃两年，我们希望通过募捐的方式为他们筹集一些资金，然后变成大米，面，肉，油等东西，帮助这些孤寡老人和留守儿童，能吃的好点，早日走出困境。
一、活动背景
扶贫济困，用行动构建和谐社会；解囊相助，让爱心传承中华美德。
展现当代大学生无私奉献的精神以及对社会的关心，我们特开展捐款活动。

2、召开各班班长会议，利用班会做好班级学生捐款的宣传发动工作。
3、为了便于老师们的捐款，请院办召开各部门负责人会议做好老师们捐款的宣传发动工作。
4、做甘肃贫困地区儿童的情况图片展板。
5、4月13日上午10点，在篮球场进行现场捐款。
6、将捐款交于有关单位。
7、将捐款金额张榜公布。
