马德里体系是针对全球商标注册和管理的解决方案，既方便又经济，申请人只需提交一份申请，缴纳一组费用，便可在多达128个国家申请商标保护。
即通过一个集中化的知识产权系统，完成注册、变更、续展或扩展全球商标的管理制度。
通过了解马德里体系提交国际商标申请要义、马德里体系实务的一般问题，理解马德里体系国际商标申请的法律基础、具备条件、申请环节、不同审查结果以及与单独国家申请的区别和特点，并有助于商标代理人对马德里体系的专业性学习和贴近实践，希望站在全球视野吸收国际知识产权组织商标保护信息与经验。

客观上讲，2010年之前，山西省马德里注册商标不足10件，国家商标局年报统计2012年山西省马德里国际注册商标的数量在全国的排名极其落后。
造成落后的原因一方面是山西省需求和开发力度不足，另一方面是没有专人研究该领域的实际操作。
为此，笔者自2010年开始代理山西省多家企业的马德里国际商标注册，据商标局2018年之前每年的《我国商标年度报告》统计，笔者是山西省代理马德里国际商标注册成功件数较多的代理人之一。
