Longman Communication 3000 朗文学术最常用的3000词

1 LONGMAN COMMUNICATION 3000Longman Communication 3000The Longman Communication 3000 is a list of the 3000 most frequent words in both spoken and written English, based on statistical analysis of the 390 million words containedin the Longman Corpus Network – a group of corpuses or databases of authentic English language. The Longman Communication 3000 represents the core of the English language and shows students of English which words are the most important for them to learn and studyin order to communicate effectively in both speech and writing.Analysis of the Longman Corpus Network shows that these 3000 most frequent words in spoken and written English account for 86% of the language. This means that by knowing this list of words, a learner of English is in a position to understand 86% or more of what he or she reads. Of course, “knowing”a word involves more than simply being able to recognise it and know a main meaning of it. Many of the most frequent words havea range of different meanings, a variety of different grammatical patterns, and numerous significant collocations. Nonetheless, a basic understanding of the Longman Communication 3000 is a very powerful tool and will help students develop good comprehension and communication skills in English.‘This [frequency] information is gold dust for the language learner. LDOCE shows in graphic and immediate form which words are really worth learning and knowing how to use.’Jeremy Harmer, EL T authorT o ensure that users have access to the appropriate information, the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English marks all the words that are in the Longman Communication 3000 in red accompanied by special symbols: 1, 2, and 3 for words that are in the top 1000, 2000 and 3000 most frequent words in written English, and , and for the top 1000, 2000 and 3000 most frequent words in spoken English. Nowadays, many learner’s dictionaries include information about the most frequent words in English, but Longman dictionaries are the only ones to highlight the differences between spoken and written frequency. These frequency markers added to the headwords in the dictionary give users access to a wealth of information that can help the selection of the appropriate word or phrase in a variety of situations. Not only are the words and meanings given descriptive labels, for example formal or informal, AmE (American English) or BrE (British English), humorous,old-fashioned, but now they have the added information about relative frequency in spoken and written language.T ake for example the verb book (in the meaning of book a table at a restaurant). It is markedas – one of the top 2000 words of spoken English. Note that is has no marker for written English because according to corpus analysis, it is not part of the top 3000 most frequent words in written English. However, the entry also indicates that a synonym for book is reserve which is in the top 3000 most frequent words in written English. The conclusion to be drawn from this is that in speaking (for instance when phoning a hotel or restaurant), book is the most appropriate verb to use when asking for a room or table to be kept for you. In writing, however, it would be more appropriate to use reserve.‘There are two distinct modes of English: thoughtful, accurate and more formal, reflected mostly by written English; and spontaneous, real-time, less formal language, typified by spontaneous speech and some informal writing.’Professor Geoffrey Leech,Emeritus Professor of English Languageand Linguistics – University of LancasterLearning a language can be exciting, butalso sometimes difficult and frustrating because there are so many things to learn and it is difficult to know what to focus on. The frequency markers that identify the Longman Communication 3000 help students see clearly which words are frequent in written and spoken English, and enable them to focus more attention on mastering the meanings, grammatical patterns and collocations of these words.a indefinite article, determiner S1, W1 abandon v W3ability n S2, W1able adj S1, W1about prep S1, W1 about adv S1, W1 above Advanced Diagnostic Features5.1 Low Voltage DetectionDiagnosis and ResponseThe Series 3000 meter provides low line voltage monitoring capabilities. Thethreshold for this detection is 80% of rated voltage, and the voltage must staybelow that level for approximately 20ms before the voltage drop is confirmed. When the voltage drop is confirmed, the Series 3000 meter attempts to store the current time of the RTC and the current kWh readings. Only the most recentpower loss time is saved in the EEPROM.In order to preserve the lifetime of the EEPROM, the meter readings are onlystored when the initial voltage drop is confirmed. The meter then returns tonormal operation. Once the voltage returns to proper levels, the meter will again save immediately on the next voltage drop. Based on this operation, aconsistently unstable voltage can significantly decrease the lifetime of the EEPROM. For more information see the Series 3000 users‟ manual.DisplayWhen low voltage is detected on a phase, it is indicated with a simultaneousblinking of the …V‟ and the corresponding phase letter.5.2 Reverse Phase IndicationDiagnosis and ResponseSeries 3000 meters are designed specifically to measure energy consumption. As a consumption-only meter, it is expected that the energy flow will always befrom the power grid and in the same direction across all lines. If the measuredpower usage on a phase is negative, the meter will report the corresponding CT as being reversed.DisplayWhen a reverse CT is detected, it is indicated with a simultaneous blinking of the …A‟ and the corresponding phase letter. For more information see the LCDsection in the Users Manual.5.0 Troubleshooting FAQFAQQ: Can you use additional sets of current transformers (CT’s) with a submeter to accommodate more circuits?A: Yes, you can use up to three sets of CTs in parallel per meter. Just make sure you do not exceed the current rating per phase. CTs should be sized according to the rated amperage of the meter. Example: Monitoring 3, 100 amp circuits with a 400 amp meter would require the use of 400 amp CTs.Q: What is AMR equipment?A: AMR is Automatic Meter Reading equipment. This typically consists of radio transmitters, repeaters, and a collector that monitors, records, and transmits data to a Leviton Energy Manager, data concentrator, or Building/ Energy Management System.Contact Leviton for more informationQ: Why do I need a third party billing service (RBC)?A: RBC‟s are typically used with larger facilities that want to generate bills for the tenants. These companies will install, initialize, maintain, and monitor the meters not only for electrical usage but for trouble signals as well.Q: Why are the 100A and 200A solid core current transformers color coded (Black & white, red & white, and blue & white)?A: CT1 needs to monitor the same phase used to power the meter on line 1, CT2 needs to monitor the same phase used to power line 2, etc.Q: Can digital input/output wires be routed through the same conduit as voltage input and current sensing wires?A: No. In accordance with NEC and UL requirements, Class 2 wiring (digital inputs/outputs) must be separated from Class 1 wiring.Q: I still can’t get my meter to work, what now?A: Contact technical support via phone or on our website given in the following section.Contact InformationMailing Address20497 SW Teton Avenue Tualatin, Oregon 97062 HoursTechnical Support: Mon-Fri 6:00 AM-4:00 PM PST Customer Service: Mon-Fri 8:00 AM-5:00 PM PST Telephone Numbers1-800-959-6004 Technical Support Toll-free1-503-404-5501 Technical Support Local Portland, OR 1-503-404-5601 Technical Support FaxFor Orders or General Sales Inquiries1-800-736-6682 Customer Service Toll-free1-503-404-5500 Customer Service Local Portland, OR 1-503-404-5594 Customer Service Fax。
