本单元主要讲的是我们的祖国和几个说英语的国家，而本节课主要是在学生掌握了一定的日常用语，了解了一些国家知识的基础上，以中国的相关知识为背景，学习描述我们可爱的祖国，并在此基础上将教学内容进行适当的扩展和延伸，培养学生实际运用语言的能力，激发更加浓烈的爱国之情。
教学对象分析小学生知识形成的特点是：通过亲自动手实践，体验感知，形成表象，构成新知。
学生是独立的个体，有独立的情感体验。
小学阶段英语教学属于基础教育，要努力为学生的终身发展奠定坚实的基础，从而使学生获得可持续发展，使人的主体精神得到自我完善，发展所必需的英语语言能力和文化素质。
本节课的授课对象是小学五年级的学生，他们想象力丰富，喜欢幻想，对事物充满好奇，乐于参加表演，喜欢做游戏，急于得到别人特别是老师的肯定。
所以在本节课教学中，首先培养学生的学习兴趣，使学生掌握一定的语言知识。
其次，培养学生利用所学的语言知识解决实际问题、进行交际的能力。
最后，培养学生的合作、互助意识，以发展学生的思维，着眼于培养学生创新意识。
教学策略及教法设计这节英语课教学以学生为主体，以训练为主线，以能力的培养为宗旨。
