We played games like pin the badge on Chase and a Paw Patrol themed treasure hunt. Then we had pizza, ice cream, and cake. Jimmy got super hyper from all the sugar and was running around barking like a crazy puppy! After we sang happy birthday and Jimmy blew out his candles, the party was finally over around 2pm.I thought I'd get a little break then, but nope! As soon as we got home, my dad told me to get changed because we were going over to my aunt and uncle's house for a family cookout. We got there around 3pm and I spent a couple hours playing cornhole and frisbee with my cousins in their backyard.For the cookout, my uncle grilled up hamburgers and hot dogs. We had all the typical picnic foods like potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, and cherry pie for dessert. It was all really good but I probably ate way too much. My cousin Katie and I had a little too much fun with the sparklers after it got dark!Finally around 7pm, we headed home. I was bloated from eating so much and feeling pretty tired from running around all day in the hot sun. I thought I could relax for the rest of the night, but boy was I wrong!When we got home, my mom reminded me that I hadn't finished all my homework for the week. Ugh, I hate when teachers assign homework over the weekend! So I had to spend a couple hours finishing up my math worksheets, writing assignments, and reading for my book report. I definitely got a little sidetracked playing on my tablet here and there...oops!By the time I finally got my homework done and got ready for bed, it was after 10pm. I face-planted into my pillow, absolutely exhausted from my super hectic Saturday. I couldn't wait to just sleep in and relax the next day!But Sunday ended up being just as busy and jam-packed as Saturday! My dad woke me up bright and early at 7:30am to go to church. I definitely nodded off once or twice during the sermon.After church, we had to rush out because my piano recital was at noon. I've been taking piano lessons for 3 years now, so twice a year we have a big recital to show off what we've learned. My parents made me practice my pieces over and over in the weeks leading up to the recital.When it was finally my turn to go on stage, I was shaking like a leaf! I was so nervous to play in front of all those people. But I took a deep breath and reminded myself of all the practice I hadput in. In the end, I nailed my performance of Beethoven's "Fur Elise" and Chopin's "Prelude in E Minor." All that practice paid off!My parents took me out for a celebratory lunch at my favorite burger place after the recital was over around 2pm. I was starving after all that performing stress!I thought I'd be able to just veg out and relax when we got home. But almost as soon as I walked in the door, my mom said we had to get ready to go to my cousin's high school graduation party! No school, no homework, just pure playtime and fun!It all started on Friday after school. My best friend Tyler came over and we immediately ran outside to play some basketball inmy driveway. We're both really into basketball and dream of being pro players one day. We played a few super intense games of H-O-R-S-E and around the world. We were dripping sweat but having a blast.After our basketball battles, we went inside to re-energize with some snacks. After the movie, we decided to pull an all-nighter and stay up as late as we possibly could.To stay awake, we told spooky ghost stories with just a flashlight for effect. The stories got sillier and sillier as we got more tired in the early morning hours. At one point I screamed out loud because I thought I saw a ghost in the hallway, but it was just Dad returning from his late-night bathroom trip! We giggled uncontrollably about that one.Eventually, we all crashed around 4am from exhaustion. But when morning came, our sleepover was still going strong! I had soccer practice until 5:30pm. We were working really hard getting ready for our big game on Saturday morning against our rivals, the Thundercats. Those guys are good, but I think we can beat them if we play our best.After practice, I had to rush home, inhale a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for dinner, and then head right back out the door. My friend Michael's mom was driving a bunch of us to the movies to see the new superhero film everyone has been talking about. So cool!We got back from the movies around 10pm. I was already feeling pretty tired, but the weekend was just getting started. I brushed my teeth, put on my Batman pajamas, and collapsed into bed, totally conked out.The next morning, I woke up bright and early at 7am for my soccer game.
