With time goes by, it becomes a bit hard for me to remember everything about myself at the first day of my college life. However, there was one thing for sure that I did feel quite excited and curious about my university. There is no doubt that students like me have struggled for a long time so that can be permitted to enter the university.

Bringing with expectation, I got into Zhejiang Gongshang University. Generally speaking, it's an interesting and fantastic place for us to study and live in. Every day a series of outgoing people get into my eyesight. Curious and out of politeness, I'd talk to them heart to heart. Here I make friends with my new classmates from everywhere around China. What's more, time and weather permitting, I will enjoy jogging or playing basketball with my classmates on the playground, tired but happy. When staying in dormitory, I choose to read news online and sometimes watch a film for relaxing. However, a good student can never leave his study behind. When it comes to study, hard problems never upset me, instead they arouse me. Rather than ignoring it, I'd think carefully for a while and ask my classmates for help.

My sweet tooth is living its best life on this campus, that's for sure.One of the best parts has been making so many new friends from all over! There are kids here from every corner of the world and all different backgrounds. We love learning about eachother's cultures, languages, traditions, and perspectives. It's been so much fun discovering our commonalities and differences.At the end of the day though, I have to admit - college life can be pretty exhausting sometimes! We've got these awesome dormitory buildings that are like a home away from home. Each student gets their own cozy little room to snuggle up and relax in after a long day. It's the perfect place to take a nap, read a book, or just chill out while listening to music and decompressing. My big sister Sarah just started going to a really big university and she lets me come visit her on campus sometimes. It's like a whole different world there!The first time I went, I couldn't believe how massive the buildings were. Sarah's dorm is like a castle - it's called "Bradford Hall" and it's made of big gray stones. There's a cool clock tower on top and everything. Inside, there are long hallways with doors everywhere. Sarah's room is tiny but she gets to share it with her new friend Amanda. They have two little beds and two little desks all crammed together. I don't know how they don't get squished!But the coolest part is walking around outside between classes. There are paths and sidewalks that crisscross all over the place, and squirrels running around everywhere you look. Sarah says you have to watch your step so you don't step in squirrel poop! There are also lots of big shady trees and grassy areas where students sit and study or play frisbee. In the middle ofcampus is this gigantic plaza called "The Quad" with fountains and benches. Everybody hangs out there between classes.Sarah hasto go to different buildings for all her different classes, like chemistry and English and psychology. Some of the classroom buildings are modern with huge windows, but others are super old with tiny windows and gargoyle statues carved into the walls. Sarah says those ones can be spooky at night! My favorite is this one called "Rockwell Library" that's an enormous cathedral looking thing with huge arched windows and rows of columns out front. I'd love to explore all the books and nooks and crannies in there.Another crazy part of college is the dining halls where they eat. They're like school cafeterias on steroids! When you go inside, there are all these different food stations serving every kind of cuisine you can imagine. One has burgers and fries, another has asian stir fries, another has pasta and pizza, and another has an enormous salad bar. And that's just the main lines - there are also smaller stations for Mexican food, breakfast food that's open 24/7, a bakery case, and even an ice cream stand! Sarah says you can eat as much as you want and the food is actually pretty decent for a dining hall.I also got to see the gym and recreation center, which has huge weight rooms, basketball courts, an indoor swimming pool, and all kinds of workout classes like yoga and zumba. I haven't figured out how Sarah has time to work out when she's so busy with classes and homework!The stadium is probably the most epic thing on campus though. Sarah's school is really big into football and basketball, so the stadium is always rocking on gamedays. I went to a football game with Sarah and wow - the student section was absolutely nuts! Everybody was wearing the school colors and cheering like maniacs. The football players came ripping out of the tunnel surrounded by smoke and music like they were going into battle. After we won, the students all rushed onto the field and were celebrating and taking selfies. Apparently that's a tradition called "storming the field." It looked like so much fun!Campus definitely seems like a blast, but I don't know how Sarah keeps up with all her schoolwork on top of having that much fun! She's in so many classes, has piles of reading to do every night, and is constantly writing papers or studying for tests. No wonder she's always guzzling coffee or energy drinks! A lot of the buildings actually have cafes and coffee shops built right intothem for studying. That's probably the only way students survive, by living off caffeine and junk food.I really hope I get to go to a cool college like Sarah's someday. Although it seems pretty overwhelming with how many buildings there are to navigate and how much work you have to do. Plus, you have to figure out things like student groups, dorm life, meal plans, and getting around campus. Sarah says she still gets turned around sometimes and ends up on the opposite side from where she needs to be! But she loves it there and has already made so many new friends. I just had the most amazing adventure at my big brother's college and I can't wait to tell you all about it!Last weekend, my parents took me to visit my brother Jake at his university. I was so excited because I've never been to a real college before. When we got there, it was like entering a whole new world! The campus was huge, with great big buildings everywhere and lots of people walking around looking very smart and important.Jake's dorm is where he lives when he's at school. It's basically a tiny apartment that he shares with another student named Mike. When we went inside, I was surprised by how small it was. There were just two little rooms with two small beds, two desks, and not much else. "Where's the living room? And the kitchen?" I asked. Jake laughed and explained that dorms don't have those. Dorm life must be pretty cramped!After dropping our stuff off, Jake took us on a tour of the campus. We saw the massive library (which had more books than I could even imagine!), the student center (with lounges, restaurants, and a bowling alley inside!), and even some of the academic buildings where classes are held. My favorite was the science building because they had a crazy robot arm and all kinds of other cool gadgets.For lunch, we went to the dining hall. It was set up like a restaurant buffet with every type of food you can think of - pizza, burgers, salads, ethnic dishes, desserts...my mouth was watering just looking at it all! You could eat as much as you wanted for one low price. I piled my tray super high and it was delicious.In the afternoon, Jake's friends invited us to watch them play intramural basketball in the huge gym. I had never seen a basketball court that enormous before! The players were very skilled and the game was intense. Afterwards, we all went back to the dorm's lounge area to hang out. I played video games with Jake's roommate Mike while the others just relaxed and talked about classes, professors, weekend plans, and other college stuff I didn't quite understand.As the day went on, I started to appreciate how fun but also demanding college life can be. The students have a lot offreedom to make their own choices, but they also have tons of responsibilities like going to classes, studying, working jobs, joining clubs, etc. There's always something going on and so much to do on campuses - it's like its own little city!When it was finally time to leave, I felt a little sad. College seemed like such an exciting phase of life. Sure, the living quarters are small and simple. But you get to gain incredible knowledge, make lifelong friends, and become more independent...what's not to love? My mom and dad helped me pack up my belongings into boxesand we loaded them into the car. We drove for like a bajillion hours until we finally made it to the college campus.When we got there, I couldn't believe how huge everything was! The buildings were all so tall and there were lots of people walking around everywhere. We had to lug all my heavy boxes up several flights of stairs to my tiny little dorm room. My roommate hadn't arrived yet, so I got to pick which side I wanted.I chose the bed closest to the window so I could look outside.After my parents left, I started feeling really homesick. Everything was so unfamiliar and I missed my comfy room back home. But I knew this was a big step towards becoming an adult, so I tried not to cry too much. I ended up meeting my roommate later that day - her name was Jenna and she was really nice. We stayed up late that night chatting and watching movies to take our mind off being homesick.The next few weeks were a total whirlwind as I tried to figure out college life. Instead of having one teacher for every subject like we do, each class in college has a different teacher who is an expert in that topic. So you might have Ms. Jones for your math class, Mr. Rodriguez for English literature, and Dr. Patel for biology. Wild, right?But get this - in college, you get to choose what classes you want to take each semester! There are so many options for cool classes like marine biology, art history, rock climbing, and even classes about wizards and magic (ok, maybe not that last one). You can take classes that sound interesting to you and that go towards your major, which is kind of like picking what job you want to train for.Speaking of jobs, I've heard that one of the best parts of college is getting a work-study job on campus. With these jobs, you can work a few hours per week at places like the library, dining hall, or gym, and you get paid! How neat is it to be able to earn money while still being a student? My cousin works at the campus coffee shop and she gets free coffee and snacks during her shifts. Sign me up!From what I've heard, one of the highlights of dorm life is getting to be part of a floor community. A dorm floor is kind of like one huge family - everyone's rooms are all together in the hallway and you all have a big lounge room to hang out in. My cousins tell me that their floors are always planning fun activities like video game nights, multicultural festivals, or swimming pool parties. They even do goofy events like pudding wrestling matches! How awesome is that?Another major part of college is getting involved in clubs and activities. Colleges have hundreds of different clubs for every single interest you can imagine - skiing club, K-pop dance crew, improv comedy troupe, you name it. My cousin Amy is the captain of her university's Quidditch team (like from Harry Potter)! If you can't find a club you like, you can even start a new one. How cool is that?One of the best things about college is that it's a chance to make new friends from all over. You'll be living, studying, and hanging out with people from different cities, states, and even countries! It's a great way to learn about diverse cultures and backgrounds. My cousin's roommate is from South Korea and she's taught him all about K-dramas and Korean snacks. Inexchange, he's introduced her to American football and his grandma's famous chicken parmesan recipe.I think the best part of college is that you get to deeply explore whatever topics you're passionate about. So if you're really into science, you can take all kinds of science classes like physics, anatomy, genetics, and more. Or if you're an art lover, you can immerse yourself in every type of art - painting, sculpture, ceramics, you name it. It's like getting to turn your favorite hobbies into careers!While college certainly sounds like a blast, it's not all just fun and games. I've been warned that it's also a ton of hard work. There are lots of papers to write, presentations to give, exams to study for, and long nights in the library. Time management skills and self-discipline are a must! My cousin had to learn the hard way about not procrastinating on big assignments. One time he waited until the very last minute to write his 20 page term paper and he ended up pulling three all-nighters in a row while chugging energy drinks like a madman. No thank you!Another challenge is trying to stay healthy and fit in college. With so much studying, activities, and social events, it can be tempting to subsist solely on junk food, soda, and coffee. That's why many colleges have awesome workout facilities like reccenters and olympic-sized pools right on campus. Staying active helps to burn off all the cafeteria food you'll inevitably be eating! My cousins also told me that making sure to get enough sleep is crucial, even if it means skipping out on some late-night fun from time to time.All in all, college sounds like the best four years of your life! You get a taste of independence and adulthood while still being surrounded by support systems. You're finally free from your parents' rules but still don't have too many "real world" responsibilities yet. Plus, being a student again after college is crazy expensive so you've got to soak up as much of the full experience while you can!Between the fascinating classes, amazing campus life, meeting new people from all over, and having more freedom than ever before, I honestly can't wait to go to college in a few years. In the meantime, I'll just have to keep pestering my older cousins to tell me more crazy college stories and bring me fun souvenirs from their campuses. A Quidditch t-shirt would be cool!
