I've never been a huge fan of numbers and equations if I'm being honest. All those formulas and word problems just make my head spin sometimes! But I tried my best and managed to get decent grades. I'm really proud that I stuck with it and didn't give up, even when things got tough. Math is important and I know it will help me in so many ways down the road.Recess and P.E. were definitely highlights of my day though. There's nothing quite like getting some fresh air and running around the playground to clear your head after sitting through lessons. Whenever we had P.E., I loved playing games likekickball, dodgeball, and relay races. Sports and being active have always been passions of mine - I was even on my school's soccer and basketball teams! My skills on the field and court helped our teams win quite a few championships over the years. I was so proud to represent my school and show good sportsmanship while having a blast.While I'm definitely going to miss my cozy little elementary school, I'm also really excited to start a new adventure at junior high in the fall. Part of me is nervous about the transition - having multiple classes, lockers, new teachers, and way more students. Camp Wildwood was this awesome place up in the mountains where you got to do all kinds of cool outdoor activities like hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, and archery. Oh, and Ryan's older brother managed to get us a couple smoke bombs that would hopefully allow us to make a crazy getaway if we got into any trouble with the camp leaders.In between all the pranks and snack raids, we were also hoping to show off some of our athletic skills on the playing fields and obstacle courses around the campgrounds. Luke was a baseball star who could probably hit one of his monster home runs all the way across the lake. Jacob had gotten really good at archery, so maybe he could show off his skills and knock a few apples off some bullseyes or something. Alex did karate andcould probably break some wooden boards with his bare hands. Ryan and I weren't quite as talented when it came to sports, but we were both expert video gamers which had to count for something, right?After our month at sleepaway camp, we were going to spend the rest of the summer hanging out in our neighborhood and taking some small trips around our state. Jacob's parents had talked about taking us all to Lake Erie for a few days to go swimming, boating, and fishing. We'd get to stay in a cabin right on the shore and have bonfires on the beach every night. I was personally hoping to catch a big largemouth bass that I could have mounted over my bed. Ryan's family said they might take us all to Cedar Point, which was supposed to have some of the craziest roller coasters in the whole world. Just the thought of upside-down loops, hellishly steep drops, and supersonic speeds both terrified and thrilled me. As long as I didn't wet my pants, it was going to be awesome.Our biggest goal for those last few weeks, though, was to set up the sickest backyard camping spot anyone had ever seen. We'd push our parents to let us pitch a huge tent in Luke's backyard since it was the biggest and most flat. Then we'd decorate the inside with all kinds of string lights, inflatablefurniture, a projector for video games and movies, and maybe even a small refrigerator if we could sneak one out there. We were hoping to spend as many nights as possible sleeping out under the stars, telling scary stories, battling each other in video game championships, and doing all the other things you're supposed to do when hanging out with your buddies in the summer.
