My favorite is the char siu bao, which is a fluffy steamed bun with delicious barbecue pork inside. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water! There are tons of dim sum restaurants in Guangzhou. Some are fancy and expensive, while others are small family-ownedplaces. No matter which one you go to, you'll get to try all sorts of fun dim sum dishes with yummy fillings like shrimp, vegetables, egg custard, and more. Eating dim sum is a big part of Cantonese culture and a popular weekend family activity.Another Guangzhou specialty is the crispy golden childhood snack called sachima. It's made from deep-fried dough that's twisted into fun shapes like little lions or baskets. The texture is light and crunchy on the outside but slightly chewy on the inside. You can find street vendors selling sachima all over the city. I always beg my parents to buy me a bag when I smell that irresistible fried dough aroma!Speaking of childhood snacks, Guangzhou is also famous for bing tanghulu. These are Chinese candied fruit skewers or "hawthorn flakes" as they're sometimes called in English. Juicy fresh fruits like strawberries, pineapple, grapes, and hawthorn get coated in a sweet, sticky maltose syrup. The bing tanghulu stalls with their colorful hanging skewers are a common sight around the city, especially during holidays and festivals when families love to snack on them. One more food I can't forget to mention is the rice noodle roll or cheong fun. These are steamed flat noodle rolls with shrimp, pork, or other fillings inside, served with a sweet soysauce for dipping. They're so fun to eat by picking them up with chopsticks and dipping them into the saucy goodness! Cheong fun is a Cantonese breakfast staple but really you can enjoy it any time of day.Now let's move on to some non-food products that Guangzhou is known for. One is the famous Cantonese ceramics and porcelain. For a really long time, Guangzhou has been a center for making gorgeous vases, plates, bowls, and other ceramic artworks. The most valued ones are incredibly detailed with intricate designs and colors. If you visit Guangzhou, you'll see lots of ceramic shops selling these beautiful pieces.Guangzhou is also a huge production hub for things like clothing, toys, and electronics that get exported all around the world. You know those cool superhero action figures or that awesome new video game console you got? Well, there's a good chance it was made right here in one of Guangzhou's many factories! A lot of people work at making all the fun stuff that kids (and adults!) love getting their hands on.Last but definitely not least, Guangzhou is famous for its lingnan art, which includes things like pottery sculptures, woodcarvings, embroidery, and more. The art style is super detailed and realistic, capturing scenes of daily life, mythicalfigures, flowers, animals, and more. Some of the most amazing examples of lingnan art can be found at museums in Guangzhou. I'm always stunned by how lifelike the woodcarvings look!Well, that's it from me about the cool stuff that represents my awesome hometown. From the famous dim sum to the beautiful ceramics and art, Guangzhou has so many unique products that make it special. I feel really lucky to have grown up surrounded by all these traditions. Next time you visit, make sure to try as many Guangzhou goodies and snacks as you can!篇5My Favorite Things from GuangzhouHi everyone! My name is Xiaoming and I'm 10 years old. I live in the amazing city of Guangzhou, which is in southern China. Guangzhou is a really old city with a super cool history. It's famous for lots of yummy foods, interesting traditions, and fun things to see and do. Today I want to tell you about some of my favorite objects and items that come from Guangzhou. They're all really special!First up is Guangzhou's most delicious snack - wife cake! Don't worry, it's not actually made out of wives. The name comes from an old story. Wife cakes are round pastries with a crispyoutside and soft, chewy inside. They taste sweet and yummy, kind of like a dense cookie. You can get them filled with different things like lotus seed paste, red bean paste, or even pork. My favorite is the lotus seed paste one. Eating wife cakes is a tradition that goes way back to the Qing Dynasty over 300 years ago. Legend says a shopkeeper wanted to make a treat to welcome his wife home after she was away for a long time. How romantic!Another amazing Guangzhou food issuanmeitang, which means "sour plum drink." It's this super refreshing and tangy beverage made from smoked plums, rock sugar, and ginger. You mix it with hot water to make the drink. The taste is kind of sour and smoky but also nice and sweet. People in Guangzhou have been drinking suanmeitang for over a thousand years to help with digestion after a big meal. It's supposed to be really good for you. My grandma always makes sure we have suanmeitang with our dim sum!Dim sum is one of Guangzhou's most iconic foods. It's a tradition of eating lots of small dishes like dumplings, steamed buns, rice noodle rolls, and more. There are all kinds of dim sum like shrimp dumplings, barbecue pork buns, egg tarts, and chicken feet (which sound gross but are actually delicious).People in Guangzhou often go out for dim sum with their families and friends, especially on weekends. My favorite dim sum is the fluffy steamed pork buns - so pillowy soft! You've probably seen examples of another popular thing from Guangzhou - Cantonese opera! It's a form of traditional Chinese musical theatre with really elaborate costumes, songs, acting, and martial arts moves. The performers wear these crazy colorful outfits and heavy makeup. Cantonese opera tells stories about ancient legends, folk tales, and historical events. The singing has a very distinct sound that's kind of nasal. I had to see a Cantonese opera for a school field trip once and some parts were pretty hard to understand. But the fight scenes with the acrobatics and martial arts were super cool! Cantonese opera has been popular in Guangzhou for hundreds of years.Speaking of old traditions, did you know Guangzhou was one of the birthplaces of Taoism? Taoism is an ancient Chinese philosophy and religion that's all about living in balance with nature. One of Taoism's most famous symbols is the yin-yang. That's the circle that's half black and half white to represent the forces of yin (darkness, cold, femininity) and yang (light, heat, masculinity). You've definitely seen the yin-yang logo before. Another common Taoist symbol is the "bagua" which is made upof yin-yang symbols arranged in an octagon. These designs are really pretty and meaningful.Oh oh! I almost forgot about Guangzhou's iconic architecture! You've probably seen pictures of the super tall Canton Tower. It's over 1,800 feet high which makes it one of the tallest towers in the world. The Canton Tower has these really cool twisty curved designs and bright lights at night. At the top is an observation deck where you can see the entire city. I went up there with my parents last year and the view was incredible! You can even take a walking tour on the outer skywalk if you're brave enough. I don't think I could do that - it's way too high up!There are also tons of old historical buildings and temples in Guangzhou. One of the most famous is the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall. It's this huge complex of traditional Chinese buildings and towers that were built hundreds of years ago by a powerful family called the Chens. All the wooden buildings have these intricate carvings of dragons, phoenixes, flowers, and other designs. My dad says the buildings show the amazing skills of ancient Chinese architects and artisans. I think they're just really pretty to look at!Well, those are some of the coolest and most special items and traditions from my amazing hometown of Guangzhou. There's just so much awesome history, culture, and delicious food here. I feel really lucky to grow up in Guangzhou! If you ever visit, you have to try wife cake, drink some suanmeitang, see a Cantonese opera show, and check out the tall Canton Tower. And don't forget to stuff yourself with as much dim sum as possible - your stomach will thank me later! Haha just kidding...kind of. Guangzhou rules!篇6My Favorite Things from GuangzhouHi everyone! My name is Lily and I'm from the amazing city of Guangzhou in southern China. Guangzhou is known as one of the biggest cities in my country and it has a very long history going back over 2,200 years! Because of this rich culture and tradition, there are so many special and unique things that come from Guangzhou. Today I want to tell you about some of my favorite representative items from my hometown. One of the most iconic things from Guangzhou has to be the Cantonese opera. Cantonese opera originated here a really long time ago and it combines singing, acting, martial arts, and amazing costumes and makeup. The performers have to go through years of training to perfect their skills. My grandpa lovesCantonese opera and sometimes he takes me to see the shows. I'm always wowed by the beautiful music, vibrant costumes, and incredible acrobatics! The songs can be really sad and emotional or fun and lively. My favorite part is when the actors do the martial arts fighting scenes with all the kicks, flips, and stage combat. It's just so cool to watch! Cantonese opera shows are a big part of the culture in Guangzhou.Another special thing from Guangzhou is the yummy Cantonese cuisine. The food from my city is famous all around China and even the world. We use a lot of fresh seafood since Guangzhou is located near the coast. My favorite Cantonese dish is probably dim sum. Dim sum refers to all the delicious small plates and bite-sized foods like dumplings, buns, and pastries. My mom and I love going to the dim sum restaurants, especially on the weekends. You order from these rolling carts that come around to your table and you can try so many different tasty items! My number one dim sum pick has to be char siu bao, the fluffy steamed buns filled with sweet barbecue pork. They're so good! Other popular Cantonese foods include wonton noodle soup, roast goose, and steamed fish. Everything is so flavorful because we use a lot of garlic, ginger, and seasoning. I'm lucky I grew up eating such delicious food!Speaking of food, you can't talk about Guangzhou without mentioning the cha cui! Cha cui means "tea culture" and it is a big tradition here. Cha cui refers to the whole experience of drinking different Chinese teas, especially in casual tea houses. People in Guangzhou often go to cha cui with their friends and family. You sip different varieties of hot tea like pu'er, oolong, and jasmine while snacking on sunflower seeds or preserved plums. It's a very social activity where you can relax, chat, and spend quality time together. I'm not a huge fan of the really strong or bitter teas, but I do enjoy the lighter jasmine and chrysanthemum varieties. My dad takes me to cha cui sometimes and I like learning about the different types of tea and tea ceremonies. It's a cool part of our local culture. One of my personal favorite things from Guangzhou has to be the crafts and accessories. There are many skilled artisans here who make beautiful handmade goods. A lot of the crafts use jade, a special green gemstone that has been carved and fashioned into art for centuries in China. You can find stunning jade jewelry, decorations, and figurines all over Guangzhou. My aunt has a jade necklace passed down from mygreat-grandmother and the smooth green stone is supposedly a symbol of beauty, wisdom, and good luck. Jade is also incorporated into other crafts like fans, pottery, and lacquerware. In addition to jade, Guangzhou is known for its embroidery and qipao dresses. The embroidery here uses colorful silk thread to depict amazing scenes of nature, mythology, or daily life. And the qipao dresses are these figure-hugging dresses with beautiful prints and designs. I tried one on once and felt so elegant! The craftsmanship on the dresses is amazing. I love all the intricate details and skilled handiwork that goes into making these special Cantonese crafts. The last major thing I want to mention from Guangzhou is the amazing architecture. Guangzhou is sometimes called the "Flower City" because there used to be so many flower nurseries and lush gardens here. While the city has become much more modern now, there are still examples of gorgeous traditional Chinese buildings with tile roofs, wooden beams, and stone carvings. One of my favorite historic sites is the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, a huge complex of temples and homes built for a single family over 600 years ago! Parts of it have been renovated but you can still see the grand halls, courtyards, and decorated rooms. It gives you a glimpse into how wealthy Chinese families lived centuries ago. There's event has a small museum with displays on the family's history. Another jaw-dropping sight is the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees, a Buddhist monastery founded way back in the 500s! It has bright yellow walls andsloping roofs with intricate designs. The coolest part is the cluster of banyan trees growing out of the same root system. I'm always struck by the beautiful architecture wherever I go in Guangzhou.Well, those are some of my favorite representative things from my amazing hometown! From the vibrant Cantonese opera to the yummy dim sum, rich tea culture, elegant crafts, and ancient architecture - there is so much heritage and tradition here. While it's a huge modern city now, you can still see and experience glimpses of Guangzhou's long history and roots. I feel very lucky to be from such a special place. Hopefully you enjoyed learning about my city and its iconic items! Let me know if you ever visit Guangzhou so I can give you a tour of all the best spots. Thanks for reading!。
