Since my infancy, I have been told this saying: “all’s well that ends well.” I used to hold this saying firmly
and implement it in practice by achieving good academic results. However, as I grew up, I found myself
not completely nodding in agreement with these words. It seems to me that what counts most is not the
results, but the process. So when I present my application for your program with a relatively low GPA of
3.02, I do not feel discouraged but fill myself with sheer confidence in securing an offer from your
program, because I believe I am fully qualified and prepared over these years of study and practice at
college. Here, I would like to cite some reasons why my GPA is not that high and share with you
something valuable I gained from the process.
Dating back to my high school, I was then a registered student in Taiyuan Foreign Language School, one
that is qualified for recommending students for getting admission offer without taking the College
Entrance Examination. Thanks to my outstanding academic performance in high school, I was put on the
recommendation list. After passing the written test and interview undertaken by Nanjing University of
Science and Technology, I secured the admission offer. However, according to the regulations and policies
of Chinese Ministry of Education, students from foreign language schools could only sign up for English
major for their undergraduate study and are not allowed to transfer to another major. Under this
circumstance, I became a student of Business English at NUST.
Majoring in English, I felt out of place because my real interest is on finance and business. Therefore, my
GPA lagged behind some top students in my class. Besides, my ankle injury from practice in free combat
made me stay at home for two months, greatly affecting my GPA. I was disappointed at first, but later
cheered myself up to catch up with my fellow students. Thanks to my efforts, I was able to stand out above
most of my classmates in academic study. As you review my academic transcript, you might find that I
did quite poor in French. Being a business-oriented person with a lack of romantic cells, French
vocabulary just slipped my mind when it was input, resulting in my poor grade in the examination. This
also greatly influenced my GPA.
However, a moderate GPA does not necessarily mean that I am not competent in English, as evidence can
be found in my good score in GMAT (730) and TOEFL (113). What is worth mentioning is that I gained
full mark in the component of writing in TOEFL. These scores, to most of my classmates, are quite hard to
obtain. I am a person who highlights practicality in language use. Instead of indulging myself in poems or
literatures, I endeavored to apply what I learned into practice. As a backbone of the Campus Debate
Association, I got the second prize in the debating competition organized by NUST. My fluent oral English,
eloquence and outstanding logical thinking won many complimentary words from both teachers and
students. I enjoyed the process of applying my English skills into practice, instead of the good scores I
obtained from English courses.
Besides, my college time was also occupied by active and regular participation in extra-curricular activities
and my exploration into finance through reading many financial books, magazines and reports, which
could in some degree occupy my time spent on major study, but I do believe that these activities make me
who I am today, a person with good communicative, leadership, and organizational skills.

What I should do is to put this poem into the context of the American literary evolution and literary history. At least, the poem raises an important challenge. It requires me to understand some of the crucial changes that must be happening around the turn of the last century.My subsequent studies indicate that this poem represents part of the larger literary movement known as Imagism, which included such theorists and practitioners7 as T. E. Hume, Hilda Doolittle, Amy Lowell, Ezra Pound, etc. The movement was adirect reaction to the late Victorian poetry, which had become extremely artificial, emptily rhetorical and ornamental . To address such problems, it was necessary to loosen the metrical pattern and bring it back closer to the rhythms of ordinary speech. Consequently, the imagist movement had a great deal to do with promoting experiments with free verse, advocating among many creeds8 the need to allow absolute freedom in the choice of subject and to produce poetry that is hard and clear, never blurred9 nor indefinite. When I finish my education I would love to return to my hometown of Creedmoor, North Carolina. Creedmoor’s a very small town, population of around three-thousand. I’ve lived here all my life and I know almost everybody in the community. I grew up playing sports at the community sports arena and softball fields, I have many friends and family in this town and I would love to stay close to them because we are a really close-knit family and take care of each other and have each others backs on anything and everything. The job force I want to join, there are many places I can work around here. It won’t be as hard to get a job doing what I plan on doing which is being aDentist.My Mom has been a Dental Assistant for almost thirty-five years now and I would love to carry on like her and keep Dentistry in the family because honestly its not a bad gig. The love and support that the people in our community have for one another is just out of this world. We would all drop whatever were doing to go help someone in need. When I was in eighth grade my Language Arts class had a fundraiser and brought in canned goods for a family that had lost their house in a fire. There are some downsides to being from such a small town, for example word travels really fast around here, its hard to keep a secret. But for every bad reason to live here, there’s ten times as many good reasons. The monthly parades, church on Sunday, the Friday night football games (Go Vikings), the history of the town and the hunting and four-wheeling on the weekends for fun with the family. I am from the country we love us some hunting and four-wheeling. Creedmoor is a great place to grow up, it doesn’t have a lot of bad influences. I would be so grateful if I could come back and raise my own children, my grandchildren, my great-grandchildren and so on. I’m proud to call this place my home.。
