语言的目的，无非是传情达意。英语作为一门语言学科，最根本的目的也就是能够运用英语传达情感，与人交流。作为一名外语教学工作者，笔者结合多年的教学经验，发现采用每周一记——英语周记的方式，让学生回顾一周的生活，书写自己的真情实感，这种方式能有效克服学生对英语写作的畏惧心理，深得学生喜欢，极大地培养了学生的写作兴趣，而教师作为批阅者更是受益无穷。
1. 写作英语周记的目的和意义
1.1英语周记顺应新课标下英语高考写作的趋势
近年来，顺应新课标精神，高考书面表达由控制性的提示表达逐步向半开放或开放性写作过渡。如2013年福建省的书面表达标题为“I want to smile”，这种开放性的写作让学生充分发挥想象力和创造力，不仅要能够表达和描述，还要能够表达抽象的哲理，处处渗透着对学生个性和思维能力的考核。
1.2英语周记有效地提高学生写作兴趣，激发学习动机
爱因斯坦曾说过：兴趣是最好的老师。而教育心理学也认为：学生对某一学科有兴趣，就会专心致志地钻研它，从而提高学习效率。
例：Today， at the English class， we are so happy. Of course， every English class is
interesting. I know that Mrs. Zhang hopes that we can learn English in an easy and happy way. I
understand what you mean. I won’t let you down. Believe me.
批阅到这篇周记时，我感触颇深：原来兴趣是如此重要的一样东西。可见，英语写作最大的问题并不是语言障碍，而是心理障碍，总认为写作太过于高难，认为自己不行，这样还没开始写就已被吓倒。英语周记成功地让学生由“要我写”转变为“我要写”。
1.3英语周记搭起师生沟通的桥梁，改善教师对英语课堂的管理
人与人都是有感情的，教师和学生也不例外。真正的教育是人感人的教育，是心与心的交流，思想与思想的汇聚。教师的真诚就是开启学生心灵的一把金钥匙。有一次我身体不适，第二天上交的英语周记中我就批阅到这样一些话语： 龙源期刊网
例：Mrs. Zhang， what’s the matter with you？ In your class I saw you were very tired， I
think you should have a good rest. Everyone has his trouble. When I’m in low mood， I’ll tell myself
the situation will be better tomorrow. I believe Mrs. Zhang could defeat it.
可见，一个有爱心的教师必然会赢得学生的尊重与信任，师生之间相互理解、同情的态度会使学生有意识地配合教师开展教学活动，使师生双方都在课堂上快乐活泼，轻松愉快地学习，提交课堂效率，改善教师对英语课堂的管理。
2. 英语周记如何批阅
2.1要善于发现学生英语周记中的闪光点，体会学生背后的故事
不要急于一一纠正学生文法错误，不要让学生看到自己辛苦经营的结果，只是满纸的叉叉和红笔纠正。用“显微镜”和“放大镜”挖掘学生的闪光点，哪怕是一个好的句子，一个用得恰到好处的词语，都要及时表扬、鼓励其继续发扬，以下是一名学生的周记。
例：Hello， Mrs. Zhang， My English is poor. I want to improve my English. I’m very careful
while having English class. With your help， My English has become better. Thank you， my
English teacher.
在批阅时，我写道：From this paper， I know Huang Cheng Zhi is a determined man. I
appreciate your carefulness and strong will. Come on， man！
这样，学生会在英语学习中保持优点，缺点则越来越少，培养了学生写作的信心。
2.2中英文批阅，不拘一格
在批改英语周记时，我十分注重投入感情。“罗森塔尔效应”表明：一个人对另一个人的智慧成就的预言，会决定另一个人的智慧成就。所以我会用美的积极向上的语言去鼓励生活中遇到困难的学生，教他们面对挫折。不拘泥于英文批阅，中英批阅同样有。像这样如朋友般地促膝谈心，亦师亦友的关系让学生时时感受到教师的关注。同时，由于批改方式独特，每当周记发到学生手中，他们总是迫不及待地阅读教师的评语，爱不释手甚至相互传看。这样使学生对英语写作、英语学科的兴趣得以巩固并延续下去。
