I can’t help saying “cool” every time I turn on the air conditioner
and feel the cold air coming from it. Every summer I hasten to turn on
the lovely air conditioner, feeling the cool shelter that it will bring to me.
I’ve loved air conditioner since I was 6 years old.
It was a summer. Summer was cruel at that time. Ice cream and the
electric fan couldn’t drive away the horrible heat. I was in my room
handling the annoying homework. The electric fan blades whirled in the
hot room. Hot! Hot! Hot! What was less, the mosquitoes! At night, in
clouds the mosquitoes came, and pinged and buzzed and bit till I was
nearly mad.
The day changed until I heard about the air conditioner. According
to my little pals, an air conditioner was a magic box which could give off
cool breeze to make the air soft and sweet. They told me that was
because some elves hid inside and blew the cold air. What an amazing
machine! That is exactly the thing we need. I’ve always been a docile girl
and I’ve never risen immoderate questions to my parents. But the air
conditioner was such a luxury. Will they agree to install one at home?
They said yes directly when I promised I could focus more on my
homework with the help of the air conditioner. A new member has come
to my home. To a certain extent I was an odd child because I didn’t have
a keen interest in TV as the other children did. However, I did love the air
conditioner. The remote controller was the magic wand. Any wish could
be realized as long as you waved it.
With the air conditioner I could study well work well. It provided me
a cool shelter from the heat. Daddy and mummy always slept beside me
and enjoyed our family time in such a refreshing atmosphere. However,
we never went to the balcony anymore. After such a hot day, we used to
sit in the balcony and enjoyed the coolness of the evening breeze.
Listening to the leaves rustling in the gentle breeze, we talked and
laughed. We are so closed to the nature. But now, I preferred staying
inside and enjoyed the artificial breeze.
Nowadays, air conditioner is not as costly as they thought a few
years ago. It has already become a household appliance. But problems
always come with fame. People begin to argue about its shortcomings. It
is a waste of electricity. The air conditioner does cause many other
problems. People may have headaches and catch cold if they always stay
in the air conditioned room. Meanwhile, they may get weak because of
lack of exercise and fresh air. Therefore, experts are persuading people
not to use air conditioner frequently. Ecologists also point out that
reducing the use of air conditioner can release the burden of the
environment.
However, manufacturer has come up with new ideas to improve this
inferior position. Many special air conditioners have reached town
including dehumidifier series, vehicle air-conditioner, and high
temperature area air-conditioner etc. Also, some can even keep the air
in your room pure and fresh and keeps you very comfortable. Science
and technology are always getting advanced. I hope air conditioner can
be developed to make our life more comfortable.
