In China, we can sense it clear that in recent years many western festivals, such as Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and Valentine's Day, have been gradually accepted by most Chinese. It is a pity that the Valentine's Day seems to be more popular than Chinese Valentine's Day in the 7th of lunar day of the 7th of lunar month. In 2010, the Spring Festival and Valentine's Day fell on the same day coincidentally. It is no doubt that there is a big competition between two festivals. In the market, on one hand, activities to promotion sales on Spring Festival are in progress, on the other hand, various kinds of chocolates were placed in the prominent position. These phenomena reflect declining effects of traditional culture among the young people. The Chinese nation with its industriousness and wisdom has created a long and over-lasting history and a rich, colorful culture. But, now, it faces with the great challenge which results from foreign cultures. So how can we deal with such challenge? First is about the inheritance and innovation of traditional culture, Take the right attitude towards traditional culture matters much. Neither should we negate traditional culture totally, nor affirm absolutely. Be sure to make the distinguish between positive culture and negative culture. Don’t make the feudal, negative culture become prevalent or the positive culture lost is our principal principle. We should remember that what we can change is only the form of culture, by no means its essence. Faced with the challenge we can still find some people who call for protection of traditional culture. Virtue and morality, the traditional culture, handed down from generation to generation is an indispensable principle that we should follow, especially in today’s world filled with temptations. Our great president Jiang Zeming ever said that innovation was the soul of a nation’s progress and unceasing power of a country’s prosperity. It is well known that our traditional Chinese culture, both extensive and profound, dates back to ancient times, but how can such foreign culture, such as Korean TV soaps, cartoons, blockbuster movie, and etc. become prevalent and have a great market in China. Only in the view of world to see China, can we carry forward our traditional culture well. That is to say, China should be placed in the background of globalization, in order to reconsider its traditional culture again. We can see it clearly that the story about how Meng Ke’s mother teaches the son has existed in our traditional culture for a long time without any leap and innovation. It is proved that the more innovative one is, the more possible he can stand in the forest of world culture. It is high time that we should transform the challenge caused by foreign culture into the drive to innovate. Maybe we can make a good connection between our traditional culture and modern culture by learning from foreign culture. In conclusion, we should have the right attitude toward culture, protect our traditional culture with tolerance to foreign culture and pay more attention to reasonable innovation of traditional culture. I do believe that we will have a bright future if we follow these suggestions. Second is about absorption and reference of foreign culture. It is because our nation’s own wisdom that creates such brilliant traditional culture, which also has made great contribution to the culture development of the world.
