There's also an overnight program where you get to camp out right inside the zoo and wake up surrounded by the sounds of wild animals. Maybe a bit too wild for me to want to try though!Instead, we went on a nighttime safari at the Singapore Night Safari, which is a park where the enclosures are reversed - you're contained inside moving trams and the animals roam free around you! Using night vision goggles, we spotted lions, tigers, rhinos, and all kinds of nighttime critters prowling around just feet away. It was thrilling but also a little scary at times!Some of the more unorthodox animal encounters were at Haw Par Villa, an old park filled with bizarre statues and dioramas depicting scenes from Chinese mythology and folklore. From the Violence Court showing people being tortured in hell to the graphic "Journey to the Underworld" displays, it was all quite unsettling but unique! My favorite was the colorful Drunken Couple statue showing two people riding a giant frog. You can find Chinese, Indian, Malay, Peranakan, and international dishes all in one place for just a few bucks.Some of the most delicious things we ate were Vietnamese pho noodle soup, Indian curry with fluffy naan bread,fresh-cooked pad thai, savory chicken satay skewers with peanut sauce for dipping, fried carrot cake (don't worry - no actual cake!), and coconut-y Singaporean laksa curry noodle soup. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it all!Even the local snacks and drinks were amazing. I tried on traditional Chinese outfits and my dad bought me this wooden snake carving as a souvenir.Towards the end of our trip, we took a short ferry ride out to Sentosa Island, which is basically one big amusement park andresort area. We went to the amazing S.E.A. Aquarium, which had one of the biggest underwater tunnels I've ever seen - you can watch sharks and rays swimming right over your head! The best part was the water park, where I went on the world's tallest lazy river ride.
