PART I DICTATION

Freshman’s Week Britain has a well-respected higher education

system and some of the top universities and research institutions in

the world. But to those who are new to this system, it can

sometimes be confusing. October is usually the busiest month in

the academic calendar. Universities have something called

“freshman‟s week” for their newcomers. It‟s a great opportunity to

make new friends, join in lots of clubs and settle into university

life. However, having just left the comfort of home and all your

friends behind, the prospect of meeting strangers in classrooms and

dormitories can be worrying. Where do you start? And who should

you make friends with? Which clubs and society should you join?

Luckily, there will be thousands of others in the same boat as you.

PART III LANGUAGE KNOWLEDGEThere are twenty sentences in this

section. Beneath each sentence there are four words, phrases or

statements marked [A], [B], [C] and [D]. Choose one word, phrase or

statement that **pletes the sentence.

1.

The clause in the sentence "The news that he **e back is true" is

SSS_SINGLE_SEL

A

the adverbial clause.

B

the attributive clause.

C

the appositive clause.

D

the object clause.

该题您未回答:х 该问题分值: 3.4

答案:C

从句分析题。该从句he **e back是一个完整的句子,引导词that在句子不充当任何成分,不可能是定语从句。根据句意可知,该从句是news的具体内容,起补充说明作用,因此是同位语从句。

2.

Which of the following sentences is INCORRECT?

SSS_SINGLE_SEL

A

They have all read the book.

B

These all rooms are luxurious.

C

The visitors are all from China

D

All the people stare at him.

该题您未回答:х 该问题分值: 3.4

答案:B

考查all的用法。all用作主语同位语时,其位置不一定是紧跟在主语之后,通常会放在行为动词之前,be动词、情态动词或助动词之后,故A、C表达正确。当all与定冠词、指示代词、形容词性物主代词、名词所有格等限定词连用时,all需放在这些词之前,并且一般可在它们之间加介词of,也可省略。B错误,应为All(of)these rooms。
