聊了很久，外教突然问其他学生：“我们聊的，你们能听懂吗？”很多学生摇头，徐显清猛地一惊，她突然意识到，自己的外语水平已是今非昔比，因为外教和女儿的聊天内容，她几乎能完全听懂。
从此，只要有时间，母女二人就到“英语角”来，每次来都有收获。
2001年前后,风靡全球的《哈利波特》虽然未在我国上映，可是相关书籍早已在学生中炙手可热了，11岁的王乔也成了不折不扣的波特迷。
一天半夜，徐显清习惯性地起来看看女儿的被子盖好了没有。
看见女儿的房间里灯还亮着，她很纳闷，女儿明明是9点钏上床关灯，怎么到现在灯还亮着？她向女儿房间走去，忽然听到女儿房间里传出书掉在地上的响声。
推开门，发现女儿正赤脚站在地上，手里拿着《哈利波特》不知放哪里才好。
徐显清嘱咐了一句：“早点睡觉，明天还上学呢！”就转身回到了自己房间。
徐显清失眠了，她心里很不高兴，女儿这么热衷于追逐潮流，还能专注学习吗？不过，相声“声场”的成功经验，她转而又找到了新灵感：既然听到的都是英语，为什么不让看到的也都和英语相关呢？她立即爬起来，上网搜集《哈利波特》的宣传海报，并且把海报打出来，贴到女儿的房门上。
几天后的早上，王乔第一眼见到海报时，惊讶得使劲儿揉眼睛。
再一转头看见一旁笑眯眯的母亲，不禁扑上去抱紧徐显清：“老妈，你真是这世界上最了解我的人！”这仅仅是一个开端。
接下来，徐显清又搜集了一些英文电影、歌曲的宣传海报，西城男孩、加菲猫等张贴画贴满了王乔的小屋。
她还把房里每一件看得见的物品名字都翻译成英文，并贴上卡片。
知道女儿喜欢看动画片，她又买来英文原版碟片。
为了扩充女儿的知识面，徐显清还购置了大量英语资料，狭小房间里的3个书橱，摆满了英文书、磁带，有相当一部分是原版英文书，其中《哈利波特》系列丛书就是英文原版的……在这样的环境下，闭上眼睛听到的是英语，睁开眼睛看到的是英语，从听觉入侵再到视觉入侵，想不学好英语都难。
2001年常州路小学组织“儿童节”演出，徐显清意识到这是一个难得的练后机会，更是让女儿大胆开口，增强自信的绝佳舞台，她便鼓励女儿出一个自己表演的英语节目。
母女俩头碰着头商量故事情节，从语言到肢体表演一点点精雕细琢。
在编剧本的过程中，徐显清有意识地把学过的英语知识进行了一次回顾和梳理。
演出获得了意想不到的成功，王乔的发音地道纯正，语言流畅易懂，表演自然娴熟，全体师生都感到惊讶不已。
2002年的“儿童节”，王乔又准备了英语节目，她还没上台，同学们就一边拍手一边自发地喊起来：“王乔！王乔！”2002年的《哈利波特》在国内上映，王乔这个小波特迷也顺利迁入西关中学。
教师节前，徐显清又能为她编了一幕王乔版的《哈利波特》，还特地亲手缝制了一件和电影中一模一样的黑色斗蓬。
演出那天，王乔再次赢得全校师生欢呼叫好，成为学校的“英语明星”。
此后，王乔有了个绰号：女波特，并且实现了从“英语差生”到“尖子生”的质的飞跃。
爱女成凤，下岗母亲变成教育专家2006年夏天，王乔如愿考上了平度市重点高中——平度二中。
2007年7月，“ACT第三届全国青少年英语口语大赛”预选海选赛在青岛市轰轰烈烈开始了。
（ACT全称为American college test，是美国大学入学考试，素有美国高考之称，是美国高中生进入大学必须参加的考试，也是包括哈佛大学、耶鲁大学在内的世界名校广泛采纳的入学考试。
）在青岛地区的海选中，当时还是高一学生的王乔从数百名选手中脱颖而出，以总分第一名的成绩顺利进入山东省决赛。
在2007年10月19日举行的山东省总决赛中，王乔又以98.67分获得山东省赛区第一名。
2008年2月15日，ACT第三届全国青少年英语口语大赛全国总决赛在北京外国语学院举行。
女儿到北京参赛，母亲徐显清没有陪同前往，而是在家中平静地等候消息。
尽管女儿长这么大第一次出远门，但是她知道女儿已经可以独自飞翔了。
徐显清很了解女儿，经过自己多年来的悉心培养，女儿无论从知识面还是心理素质来说，都有足够的把握应付各种考验。
