As we all know, the environmentis facing unprecedented challenges due to human activities such as deforestation, pollution, and climate change. It is crucial for us to take action to protect the environmentfor the well-being of future generations. Now, let's move on to the main content of my lesson. Then, I will introduce some effective measures to address these issues, such as promoting renewable energy, reducing waste, and conserving natural habitats.Next, I will focus on the role of individuals in environmental protection. This will involve examining the international agreements and policies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable development. 短篇10分钟英语演讲稿(精选20篇)短篇10分钟英语篇1My DreamEveryone has his own dream, which can be realized or not and which can be different from time to time. However, there must be a long –term one in one’s mind. In other words, it is not easy to be realized. I have a dream: to pass CET-6 before I graduate from the university. It’s maybe easy for most of my classmates, but to me it is as difficult as cracking the hardest nut in the world. I have been studying English for about 10 years. It should not be the No.1 task in my university agenda, but too many failures forced me to do so. I entered one of the most famous universities in China with the almost lowest English mark among all my students. I was really disappointed about that.Although I was not good at English when I was in the middle school, it was not at least about the average. I had no strength to face the frustration. After a semester’s study I was the lowest indeed. I have never cried for study before, but this time I shed tears. Since then I made up my mind to pass CET-6 before my graduation.Glanced back to my English studying experience, I realized that interest is one of the key factors to grasp knowledge. I study English only for the examination before, but not the language itself. That is the weakest point of me. I must overcome it so as to realize my dream. I made a plan: read one story until I can recite it each day; listen to the tapes related to the books as well. English is not so disgusting for me now. I will persist in doing so even after I pass CET-6. I wish my English would be as good as my native language in the future.短篇10分钟英语演讲稿篇2Foreign InvestmentThanks to the open policy in China, more and more foreign businessmen have come to invest, building new factories, mines and other business enterprises, or enlarging and improving old ones. Foreign investment is important in that it supplements the economy of our country. It has the advantage of importing foreign capital, technology, talents, advanced equipment and methods of management.Ours is a country of vast territory, abounding in natural resources and labor force.Foreign investment can help to explore the resources and make use of the labor force, thus giving our strong points to play. In a word, foreign investment may improve our economy. Of course foreign investment is of mutual benefit. The foreign businessmen can also reap profits, otherwise they would not come to invest. To attract more foreign investment, we must maintain the country’s political stability to bring about a good investment environment.Meanwhile we should carry out some good policies, which makes the foreign businessmen believe that to invest in China does pay.短篇10分钟英语演讲稿篇3breathing with dreamsI have a que stion for you. ‘do you know how to breathe?’ okay, i know what you are thinking now, “girl, are you kidding me? everybody knows how to breathe.” actually, if i were you sitting down in there one year ago, i would think, “how did she make it to the final?”Alright, seriously speaking, what i am talking about is “the art of breathing”, and it’s about breathing in a yoga way:peacefully and always under control. what it reveals is the real essence of perseverance, “in order to achieve, sometimes, you need to w ait.” and when it comes to things you really want in life, it is as hard as it could possibly be.For me, singing is a life thing. when i am singing on the stage, i feel whole-heartedly involved, and the self-fulfillment it renders is inexplicably thrilling. but with all the realistic problems i need to face in life, all those i want seem too far to be true– so far that i am terrified that i will never ever be able to get there and that gradually i will be carried away by the currents and torrents of life. i’ve been drowned into this ambivalence for so long. now, with a refined perspective towards self-realization, i am waiting, in a graceful posture, and knowing that i am going to get there. and on this, i should say, i owe yoga a thank-you.I still remember, about one year ago, i attended a yoga course for the very first time. and to tell you the truth, i went there for a nice figure. however, after practicing for some time, i discovered that there was an ineffable inner-strength burgeoning sneakily in me while i totally focused. in order not to let go this significant power, i started to picture all i wanted in my mind while i was fully concentrating, for i believe the wings of imagination could make things possible. i learned to breathe with my dreams, shaping the eagerness into this elegant gesture of persisting. And now, if you ask me what exactly is “the art of breathing”, i would say it is indeed “the art of living”. it combines the search of balance, the grace of patience, and the awareness of appreciation. So even though feelings are tied up with life routines, i could still hold onto that free ego which i have always adored: the girlwho is singing under the spotlight, with all her heart and soul; the girl who is persevering with all she believes in and always feels grateful for what has been bestowed on her. That girl is now standing right here in front of you, hoping that you are all as lucky as she is, living with dreams and love. no matter how tough things get, i tell myself, i tell myself that, every single thing i am doing now is every step closer to that very moment of my trajectory, just like every yoga breath to every blossom moment of my life.短篇10分钟英语演讲稿篇4Dear friends:If you can dream it, you can do it.——Walt DisneyIt was a long four years. Even after I had actually graduated, the nightmares began to haunt me, the university would call to say I hadn’t truly graduated. There had been a mistake and there was just one more class I needed to take. I was always so relieved to wake up and realize that it had only been a bad dream. In reality, I had completed every course needed for my degree, and I was a full-fledged college graduate! Now, the rest of my life loomed ahead of me. Sometimes a bachelor’s degree prepares you for a specific occupation——you train to be an accountant, you graduate and get a position in an accounting firm. Often, however, your stint in college only prepares you to make further decisions regarding your future. You’re pretty sure what you don’t want to do!During my senior year of college, I had toyed with the idea of changing my major. At that point, I had finally discovered what captured my heart. But, wanting to finally be finishing school was a stronger pull. So, I took a few courses in physiology and exercise science, but not enough to receive a degree in physicaltherapy. That would require advanced schooling, beyond my bachelor’s degree——and I just wasn’tready to tackle that. Having completed my B.C. degree, I didn’t have any intentions of furthering my education. So, I did the safe thing and got an office job——the very thing I was sure that I didn’t wan t to do! I detested the office policies, the suits I had to wear and the downtown environment that I had to drive to every day. I knew this was not where I belonged. But god knew what path my career was to follow. A position opened up at the most exclusive health club in our city, so I applied. This was my kind of environment——an active, vibrant kind of place——completely at the opposite end of the spectrum from the office environment where I found myself. The position required that I work Saturday nights and Sunday mornings. Perfect, I thought! I could keep my office job Monday through Friday and work at my dream job on the weekends. This arrangement lasted several months until, eventually, a full-time position opened up and I was able to resign from my office job.Over the next few years, I worked my way up the leader, gaining experience in several different departments. I found my niche as the director of member services——catering to our clientele and providing them with numerous cutting-edge programs. I would have stayed at that job forever——it seemed to be the pinnacle of all my dreams fulfilled. Here were fellow employees who had a passion for the same things that I did——health and fitness. Yet again, god had other plans for my life.Within two years, a newer, bigger, better and more state-of-the-art health club facility was built——just five miles down the road. And, in turn, the owner lost many members to that club. And, in turn, the owner lost thousands of dollars. One by one we were each laid off. After trying unsuccessfully to land another similar position elsewhere, I knew what I had to do. Go back to school!thanks! 短篇10分钟英语演讲稿篇5good morning, everyone:my name is , a lovely boy of thirteen. i’m very glad to stand here and share my dream with you.different people have different dreams. some people dream of being rich or famous and others dream of staying young for long. i also have a lot of dreams. but my dream is to become a lawyer.if i were a lawyer in the future, i would serve our country first bec ause from tv, i learn the japanese seize our country’s islands.i can’t stand it when they even say these islands are theirs. so, i feel strongly that i must study hard and get back diaoyu islands by law when i grow up.if i were a lawyer in the future, i would serve people heart and soul. i would offer free help for people in need.if i were a lawyer in the future, i would let people live a happier life. of course, i know it’s difficult for me to achieve my dream now, but i’ll make it by my hard working. c ome on. just do it!that’s all. thanks for all your listening!短篇10分钟英语演讲稿篇6good morning, dear teachers and fellow students. it’s my great honor to stand here and share a happy morning with you.i am no. _____ . today my topic is “ so much to learn.”hello! my dear friends !do you like reading books? i guess all of you will say yes. am i right? thanks to books, we have got a lotof knowledge. on the other hand, tv is another way of getting knowledge. i still remember: last year, i watched an exciting speech on tv. it was given by american president obama, i could feel his great charm. i admire him. yeah, at that time i made a decision: i try to learn english well and some day i can have a talk with him. however, it’s a pity that my english is not so perfec t. what can i do? how can i do it? ah, so much to learn. don’ t lose heart! just do it! i say to myself aloud. if you set up your mind to learn it, you will get much knowledge. i am sure you will achieve your goal.ok! so much knowledge for us to learn. we should do our best to learn it. we must try our best to learn it as much as possible. because knowledge can make us be learned and wise; because knowledge can make our country develop very fast; because knowledge can make our world be in harmony. ok! let’s keep trying!as you know, now i am a junior high school student. my school life is very wonderful and there are so many interesting subjects for us to learn, such as chinese, english, maths, history, and so on. ok, let me tell you something about my school life. i hope you will enjoy it. in my chinese lesson, i can recite the old wise sayings: “ isn’t it a pleasure that friends come to see you from far away?” “ what you know, you know; what you don’t know, you don’t know.” these words are so educational. meanwhile, i like english very much. in my english class, i try to practice my oral english. ok, i have a dream that some day i can travel around the world and make many foreign friends. all right! history lessons bring us much enjoyment, and i can have a talk with the great people in history, such as conficius, qinshihuang, dr.sun yat-sen, and so on.at last, i would like to say, we shouldn’t waste time, life is limited while knowledge is boundless. aha, there is so much to learn. maybe you like reading; maybe you like singing;… maybe you have a lot of other hobbies, it doesn’t matter, if you like it, just learn it. just do it. don’t hesitate. knowledge is power. there is no choice but to learn. what’s more, you are never too old to learn. am i right? my friends, open your eyes, can you see the flame of knowledge burning forever? yeah, i can see it. i can see it clearly. come on, boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen. let’s swim in the ocean of knowledge; let’s climb on the top of knowledge. at that time, you will be a learned person with much knowledge. you will be the happiest person in the world.短篇10分钟英语演讲稿篇7i love english,it gives me a colorful dream.i hope i can travel around the world one day. with my good english, i can make friends with many people from different contries.i can see many places of great interests.i dream that i can go to london, because it is the birth place of english.i also want to use my good english to introduce our great places to the english spoken people,i hope that they can love our country like us.i know, rome was not built in a day. i believe that after continuous hard study, one day i can speak english very well.if you want to be loved, you should learn to love and be lovable. so i believe as i love english everyday , it will love me too.i am sure that i will realize my dream one day!thank you!短篇10分钟英语演讲稿篇8my dreameveryone has a dream. i often ask myself. when i was a littleboy, i wanted to be a soldier with a gun so that i could defend our motherland.now i am a young boy with a new dream——to be a doctor. i want to be a famous doctor, helping the sick and saving their lives.i also saw some people who were suffering and dying of ill-nesses. i made up my mind to become a doctor, so that i can help the sick people and cure them of their diseases. china is a develop-ing country. she needs good medicine and good doctors, especially in the countryside and lonely villages.i want to try my best to help the poor sick people of our country. i want to let them have an opportunity to receive excel-lent treatments for their illnesses without having to pay much or any money.i'll do every bit to cure the incurable. i hope to see a world where there is no cancer, no aids, no fatal diseases. i'm confident that through the joint efforts of you and me, man will put an end to his bodily sufferings and this dream of mine will one day be brought into reality.短篇10分钟英语演讲稿篇9FriendshipLadies and Gentlemen:I am honored to be standing here to deliver a speech entitled “Friendship”.The hero’s mother in the movie Forrest Gump says, “Life is a box of chocolates”. I would say that life, with friendship, true friendship particularly, is sweet as honey. It is moonlight cast on the tranquility of a lake on a mid-fall night, enchanting to the soul. It is morning dew on rose petals, pleasant and pleasing to the sense of sight. It is cosy fire on a bitterly cold winter night, warming the heart. But as Helen Foster Snow remarks, “Friendship is nocommon weed that grows along the way. It’s highly cultiv ated and watered day by day.” Like an infant, it needs constant care; like a young tree, it can not be left to the tender mercies of severe weather. True friendship consists more in “a friend in need” to give to than “a friend in need” to take from. A true friend is a person who can be turned to, who is ready to lend a listening ear, who is willing to share feelings.Friendship should be mutual, otherwise it will be subject to withering like plant in drought. Like genuine love, true friendship has to be a two way experience. Be it the former or the latter, if one expects to be solely on the receiving end, then s/he will be too optimistic about it: it is hoping against hope that it will last. Love or friendship of this kind is dangerous, as it is contaminated by the dark matter in human nature – selfishness. Not infrequently does friendship need to be cared and tended, fostered and nourished, so that it will “stand at every crossroad, so good and strong and true”.Thank you!短篇10分钟英语演讲稿篇10I enter tile university after years of hard study and preparation(准备). But life in the university is not as satisfactory(满意) as what I had expected. I become lazy and don't want to study.I become silcent. I become puzzled. I don't know what I can do in the future. Then I become unhappy.Four years in the university is only a short period when compared my whole lifetime. Now it has passed a half. In this year, many people ,such as my parents,my friends, ask me what I want to do and tell me to map out a plan for my life. I don't want to follow their suggestion, and I want to go my style. So I think carefully. I have been a young volunteer(志愿者) for five years. It'svery happy and significant. Then I have a dream.I want to join the University Student Volunteers Go West Programe. I think I can be a teacher in the west.I want to try my best to help them and help me. I want to see the world cearly. Now I can't reach its demand and it's very diffcult, but I will work hard in the next two years. There is an old saying"where there is a will, there is a way.(有志者事竟成)"I think my dream can come ture. Now in the university I mature, and in the university I prepare for the real world. At last,I want to say to everybody"Hlod fast to your dreams,no matter how big or small they are.The path to dreams may not be smooth(平滑) and wide, even some sacrifices(牺牲) are needed. But hold on to the end,you can find there is no geater happiness than making your dream come ture."短篇10分钟英语演讲稿篇11i have a dream todayi have a dream that one day every vally shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together. wow, what a dream it has been for martin luther king. but the changing world seems telling me that people gradually get theirdreams lost somehow in the process of growing up, and sometimes i personally find myself saying goodbye unconsciously to those distant childhood dreams.however, we need dreams. they nourish our spirit; they represent possibility even when we are dragged down by reality. they keep us going. most successful people are dreamers as well as ordinary people who are not afraid to think big and dare to be great. when we were little kids, we all dreamed of doingsomething big and splashy, something significant. now what we need to do is to maintain them, refresh them and turn them into reality. however, the toughest part is that we often have no ideas how to translate these dreams into actions. well, just start with concrete objectives and stick to it. don‘t let the nameless fear confuse the eye and confound our strong belief of future. through our talents, through our wits, through our endurance and through our creativity, we will make it.hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow. so my dear friends, think of your old and maybe dead dreams. whatever it is, pick it up and make it alive from today.短篇10分钟英语演讲稿篇12Thank you. Thank you, President Chen, Chairmen Ren, Vice President Chi, Vice Minister Wei. We are delighted to be here today with a very large American delegation, including the First Lady and our daughter, who is a student at Stanford, one of the schools with which Beijing University has a relationship. We have six members of the United States Congress; the Secretary of State; Secretary of Commerce; the Secretary of Agriculture; the Chairman of our Council of Economic Advisors; Senator Sasser, our Ambassador; the National Security Advisor and my Chief of Staff, among others. I say that to illustrate the importance that the United States places on our relationship with China.I would like to begin by congratulating all of you, the students, the faculty, the administrators, on celebrating the centennial year of your university. Gongxi, Beida. (Applause.) As I'm sure all of you know, this campus was once home to Yenching University which was founded by Americanmissionaries. Many of its wonderful buildings were designed by an American architect. Thousands of Americans students and professors have come here to study and teach. We feel a special kinship with you.I am, however, grateful that this day is different in one important respect from another important occasion 79 years ago. In June of 1919, the first president of Yenching University, John Leighton Stuart, was set to deliver the very first commencement address on these very grounds. At the appointed hour, he appeared, but no students appeared. They were all out leading the May 4th Movement for China's political and cultural renewal. When I read this, I hoped that when I walked into the auditorium today, someone would be sitting here. And I thank you for being here, very much. (Applause.)Over the last 100 years, this university has grown to more than 20,000 students. Your graduates are spread throughout China and around the world. You have built the largest university library in all of Asia. Last year, 20 percent of your graduates went abroad to study, including half of your math and science majors. And in this anniversary year, more than a million people in China, Asia, and beyond have logged on to your web site. At the dawn of a new century, this university is leading China into the future.I come here today to talk to you, the next generation of China's leaders, about the critical importance to your future of building a strong partnership between China and the United States. The American people deeply admire China for its thousands of years of contributions to culture and religion, to philosophy and the arts, to science and technology. We remember well our strong partnership in World War II. Now we see China at amoment in history when your glorious past is matched by your present sweeping transformation and the even greater promise of your future.Just three decades ago, China was virtually shut off from the world. Now, China is a member of more than 1,000 international organizations -- enterprises that affect everything from air travel to agricultural development. You have opened your nation to trade and investment on a large scale. Today, 40,000 young Chinese study in the United States, with hundreds of thousands more learning in Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America.短篇10分钟英语演讲稿篇13House by Limpid waterHi everybody. How I wish to live a house surrounded by limpid water!

Good morning everyone! Today, I am going to give a presentation about the impact of social media on our lives. As we all know, social media has become an integral part of our daily lives. It has revolutionized the way we communicate, interact, and even conduct business. However, its influence on us goes beyond just the positives.Firstly, let's talk about the benefits of social media. One of the biggest advantages is that it allows us to connect with people from all around the world. We can easily keep in touch with friends and family who are far away, and even make new friends with similar interests. It promotes a sense of global community and helps to break down barriers of distance and culture. Moreover, social media provides us with a platform to express ourselves and share our thoughts and ideas. We can share photos, videos, and even write blog posts to showcase our talents and creativity. This encourages self-expression and boosts self-confidence.In addition, social media has also played a significant role in shaping social and political movements. It has given a voice to marginalized communities, allowing them to raise awareness on important issues and advocate for change. It has become a powerful tool for activism and social justice. However, there are also negative aspects to consider. One major concern is the impact of social media on mental health. With theconstant pressure to present a perfect life and the addiction to likes and followers, it can lead to feelings of inadequacy, anxiety, and even depression. It is important to be aware of the impact it can have on our well-being and practice self-care.Furthermore, the spread of misinformation and fake news is another challenge posed by social media. It is easy for false information to go viral, causing confusion and harm. It is crucial to fact-check and verify information before sharing it to avoid contributing to the spread of misinformation.Lastly, privacy is a major concern when it comes to social media. We often unknowingly share personal information that can be exploited by hackers or used for targeted advertising. It is essential to be cautious and set privacy settings carefully to protect our personal data.In conclusion, social media has undeniably transformed our livesin many ways, both positive and negative. It has brought people closer together, empowered individuals, and given a voice to the voiceless. However, we must also be aware of its potential negative impact on our mental health, the spread of misinformation, and the risk to our privacy. It is important to use social media responsibly and strike a balance in our digital lives. Thank you for listening.。

as the romans leave britain and a lot of germanic tribes start flooding in, tribes such as the angles and the saxons –who together gave us the term anglo-saxon, and the jutes – who didn?t.the romans left some very straight roads behind, but not much of their latin language. the anglo-saxon vocab was much more useful as it was mainly words for simple everyday things like ?house?, ?woman?, ?loaf? and ?werewolf?.four of our days of the week - tuesday, wednesday, thursday and friday were named in honour of anglo-saxon gods, but they didn?t bother with saturday, sunday and monday as they had all gone off for a long weekend. while they were away, christian missionaries stole in bringing with them leaflets about jumble sales and more latin. christianity was a hit with the locals and made them much happier to take on funky new words like ?martyr?, ?bishop? and ?font?.along came the vikings, with their action-man words like ?drag?, ?ransack?, ?thrust? and ?die?, and a loveof pickled herring. they may have raped and pillaged but there were also into ?give? and ?take? – two of around 2014 words that they gave english, as well as the phrase ?watch out for that man with the enormous axe.? 【the history of english in ten minutes】no.2 the norman conquestthe history of english in ten minutes. chapter two, the norman conquest or excuse my english.1066. true to his name, william the conqueror invades england, bringing new concepts from across the channel, like the french language, the doomsday book and the duty-free galois’s multipack.french was “de rigueur” for all official business, with words like “judge”, “jury”, “evidence” and “justice” coming in and giving john grisham’s career a kick-start. latin was still used “ad nauseam” in church, but the common man spoke english, able to communicate only by speaking more slowly and loudly until the others understood him. words like “cow”, “sheep” and “swine” comefrom the english-speaking farmers. while the “a la carte” versions “beef”, “mutton” and “pork” come from the french-speaking toffs, beginning a long-running trend of restaurants having completely indecipherable menus.all in all, the english absorbed about 10,000 new words from the normans, though they still couldn’t grasp the rules of cheek kissing. the “bon-ami” all ended when the english nation took their new warlike lingo of“armies”, “navies” and “soldiers” and began the hundred years’ war against france. it actually lasted 116 years but by that point, no one could count any higher in french and english took over as the language of power.【the history of english in ten minutes】no.3 shakespearethe history of english in ten minutes. chapter three, shakespeare, or a plaque on both his houses.as the dictionary tells us about 2,000 new words and phrases were invented by william shakespeare.he gave us handy words like eyeball, puppydog and anchovy and more show-offy words like dauntless, besmirch and lacklustre. he came up with the word alligator soon after he ran out of the things to rhyme with crocodile. and the nation of tea drinkers finally took into their hearts when he invented the hob-nob.shakespeare knew the power of catchphrases as well as biscuits. without him, we would never eat our flesh and blood out of house and home. we would have to say good riddance to the green-eyed monster and breaking the ice would be as dead as a doornail.if you tried to get your money’s worth, you’d be given short shrift and anyone who laid it on with a trowel could be hoised with his own petard. of course it’s possible other people us ed these words first. but the dictionary writers like looking them up in shakespeare because there wasmore cross dressing and people poking each other’s eyes out. shakespeare’s poetry showed the world that english was a rich vibrant language with limitless expressive and emotional power and he still had time to open all those tea rooms in stratford.【the history of english in ten minutes】no.4 the king james biblethe history of english in ten minutes. chapter four. the king james bible or light there be.in 1611 ?the powers that be? falling to the ?terra? from the ?arbor? for the umpteenth time, the bright sparks realised they all spoke english and could transform our understanding of the universe much quicker by talking in their own language.but science was discovering things faster than they could name them. words like ?acid?, ?gravity?, ?electricity and ?pendulum? had to be invented just to stop their meetings turning into an endless game of charades.like teenage boys, the scientists suddenly became aware of the human body –coining new words like ?cardiac? and ?tonsil?, ?ovary?, and ?sternum? - and the invention of ?penis? (1693), ?vagina? (1682) made sex education classes a bit easier to follow. though and ?clitoris? was still a source of confusion.【the history of english in ten minutes】no.6 english and empirethe history of english in ten minutes. chapter six. english and empire or the sun never set on the english language.with english making its name as the language of science, the bible and shakespeare, britain decided to take it on tour.asking only for land, wealth, natural resources, total obedience to the crown and a few local words in return.they went to the caribbean looking for gold and a chance to really unwind –discovering the ?barbeque?, the ?canoe? and a pretty good recipe for rum punch. they also brought back the word ?cannibal? to make their trip sound more exciting.in india there was something for everyone. ?yoga? – to help you stay in shape, while pretending to be spiritual. if that didn?t work there was the ?cummerbund? to hide a paunch and - if you couldn?t even make it up the stairs without turning ?crimson? – they had the ?bungalow?. meanwhile in africa they picked up words like ?voodoo? and ?zombie? –kicking off the teen horror film – and even more terrifying, they broughthome the world?s two most annoying musical instruments – the ?bongo? and the ?banjo?.from australia, english took the words ?nugget?, ?boomerang? and ?walkabout? - and in fact the whole concept of chain pubs. between toppling napoleon (1815) and the first world war (1914), the britishempire gobbled up around 10 millions square miles, 400 million people and nearly a hundred thousand gin and tonics, leaving new varieties of english to develop all over the globe.【english in ten minutes】the age of dictionary or the definition of a hopeless task.with english expanding in all directions came a new breed of man called lexicographers, who wanted to put an end to this anarchy a word they defined as what happens when people spell words slightly differently from each other.one of the greatest was doctor johnson, whose dictionary of english language which took him 9 years to write. it was 18 inches tall and contained 42,773 entries meaning that even if you couldn?t read it?s still pretty useful if you want to reach a high shelf. for the first time when people were calling you a “pickle herring”, ”a jobbernowl ” or a “fopdoodle” you could understand exactly what they meant and you?d have the standard spelling. try as he might to stop them, words kept beinginvented and in 1857 a new book was started which would become the oxford english dictionary.it took another 70 years to be finished after the first editor resigned to be an archbishop, the second died of tb and the third was so boring that half his volunteers quit and one of them ended up in an asylum. it eventually appeared in 1928 and has continued to be revised ever since proving the whole idea that you can stop people making up word is complete snuffbumble第二篇:广播站英语十分钟策划书英语广播十分钟策划书据了解,在这几个月来,越来越多的同学在足球场上晨读英语。

10分钟的演讲稿英文(5篇)Psychologist tell us that stress is a state of worry caused by the problem of living , such as too much work or study , heavy responsibilities .Statistics show that stress comes from every detail in our life . Financial problems , poor health , being laid off may be the stress that most adults now are suffering . As students in the university , we are also under our special stress . While study , having to take various tests and submit a project against a deadline may put a great pressure on us . And the things that make us felt stressed may be our parents’s greater expectations on us than we could reach . Later , when we are likely to graduate , some other problems will also annoy us . I think we will worry a lot about our ability to compete in the job market and how we can best use what we’ve learned at college in our future job .The chief problem we should face to is our attitude towards stress .People usually say they can not live in the sun except they escape from stress . It’s unwelcome ! Yes , however , very necessary . Just image a world where stress does not exist and people lead their life in a very comfortable way . But is this kind of living condition as perfect as we hope ? Withoutstress , they may feel very satisfied with the current life but lack of power to discover new things . Too much satisfaction result in nothing except a countermarch of the society . No stress , no development . So a certain amount of stress is good . Itcan stimulate us and increase our level of alertness .And our answer to stress is another vital problem . How to do with ourselves when stress suddenly break into our life ? To wave the white flag and admit our unability , to give up to our ideality , or worsely , just to suicide as to put an end to everything …Of cause not . The principle is to tackle with stress gently andharmoniously. We should try our best to releaseourselves . Such as to do some exercise , to listen to t music to ease our minds and to learn to view thesechanges of life as challenges .It’s no use crying over spilt milk . Only to accept what has happened can solve the problem .Ok , I think I was under large stress 5 minutes before , but now I am here and have finished my speech . Here is the last thing I want to add to my topic ,face to it and overcome it ,stress is also a piece of cake .That is all . Thank you very much!10分钟的演讲稿英文精选篇2Whether there's afterlife, the answer has never been the same. The atheists deny after life, believing that our life is no more than from the cradle to the grave. They may care about their illustrious names after death; they may feel attached to the affection of their offspring, but they never lay their hopes on their afterlife. They may also say that good will be rewarded with good, and evil with evil, but they don't really believe any retribution in their after life. However, in the religious world or among the superstitious people, the belief in afterlife is very popular. They do not only believe in afterlife, but thousands ofreincarnations as well. In the mysterious world, there are the paradise and the hell, the celestial beings and the gods, the Buddha and the Bodhisattvas.Maybe they really believed it, or maybe they just wanted to make use of people's veneration, the ancient emperors always declared that they were the real dragons, the sons of God, while the royal ministers claimed to be the reincarnations of various constellations. But can the stars reincarnate? Many people burn incense and kowtow, do good deeds and strive for virtues, not just for the present, but mainly to let God see their sincerity so as to be reborn into a better afterlife, or to achieve the highest enlightenment after several lives of practice. They do believe in afterlife. But I can't help asking: Suppose there were no afterlife, would you still do good deeds and strive for virtues? And If God does not see what you are doing, would you still be so upright and selfless? If you work, not for serving the public and liberating the others, but just for a better afterlife of your own, isn't it a little too selfish? Comparing with this kind of believers, those who don't believe in afterlife, but still keep doing good deeds, are the most sincere and honest philanthropists, because they do them not for themselves but for other. You may wonder if I believe in afterlife. My answer is: I know nothing about my previous life, so I dare not make improper comments on afterlife. But I do hope there's afterlife! Because our present life is so short that so many things slip away before our proper understanding. I have so many dreams, so many wishes, so many ambitions, as well as so many regrets and concerns. If there were no afterlife, all of them will remain unrealized!I'm not contented with the present commonplace life, I'm very much attached to the affections that should have been mine but have been washed away by the hurrying time, and I yearn for the perfection and maturity if I could start all over again. So believe it or not, I'd rather there were afterlife.10分钟的演讲稿英文精选篇3I have been in University for about one year. During my stay here, I came to realize that university life is like drinking coke. We experience all tastes of life here, sour, sweet, bitter and hot.I am from Province, which is far away from here. I often miss my Mum, friends, and relatives in my hometown. However, I can't see them very often. So loneliness always keeps me company. I am sad that I can't be there with them.Lucky for me, life in university is rich and colorful. With more free time,we can do many more things besides study, such as joining societies clubs, and taking part-time jobs. Such activities not only make our life more colorful, but also help us improve all kinds of skills. The university is a society miniature, what we learn here will benefit our future life. Our path in life will not always be smooth. Setbacks can't be avoided. Failing an important exam, break up with boy or girl friend, or refused by a promising company, such setbacks are likely to get us down. Sometimes we fell so frustrated that we even burst into tears.Drinkin coke is wonderful, despite the undesirble consequent hiccups. It's bitter, sour and peppery, but also sweet. And you'll even feel excited after gulping down a glass. A college experience is part of growing up. We cry, smile, fall in love, get hurt, leave, learn and then we become a better person.University life is like drinking coke. I'm experiencing it. And I know, I enjoy it!10分钟的演讲稿英文精选篇4In my 18 years of life, there have been many things. University days are the best part of them. I can never forget the days when I stepped into my university. I was impressed by its garden'like campus, its enthusiastic students and especially its learning atmosphere. I at once fell in love with it.After the arduous military training, I get absolutely absorbed in my studies. The classes given by the teachers are excellent. They provide us with information not only from our textbooks but from many other sources as well. They easily arouse my insatiable desire to take in as much as I can.Frankly speaking, at first I had some difficulty following the teachers. However, through my own efforts and thanks to my teachers' guidance, I made remarkable progress. Now I've benefited a lot from lectures and many other academic reports.Learning is a long process; I'll keep exploring in the treasure house of knowledge to enrich myself. This summer I got out of the ivory tower and entered the real world.A publishing house offered me a part'time job in compilation and revision. At the beginning I was belittled by my colleagues. But they were really surprised when I translated seven English articles over 5,000 words on only one day. Gradually, they began to look at me with respectful eyes. In their opinion I turned out to be a useful and trustworthy colleague.I also realize that only those who bring happiness for others can be truly happy. So I often take part in activities concerning public welfare. I once went to a barrenmountain village with my classmates. We taught the kids there who could not afford school. While showing them how broad and how civilized the outer world is, I was deeply touched by their eagerness to learn, their honesty and their purity. I couldn't control my tears on the day when we left. The precious experience with the poor kids made me aware of the responsibility on the shoulders of us, future teachers.Besides study and social practice, there are entertainments as well. I do body building every day, hoping to keep healthy and energetic. We also write a play and put it on in our spare time.Campus life is the most splendid time. But different people have different choices. The majority of students cherish their beautiful season and cherish the hope that one day they'll become outstanding. But there are indeed some students still under ignorance. They gather together for eating, drinking or playing cards. They're busy in searching for a girlfriend or a boyfriend. They forget completely about their mission as college students and the hope of their motherland. Finally, I do hope everybody can try their best to become a worthy citizen of the country. I do hope everybody can become the backbone of our nation and make great contributions to society!10分钟的演讲稿英文精选篇5happineis like a pebble dropped into a pool to set in motion anever-widening circle of ripples. as stevenson has said, being happy is aduty.there is no exact definition of the word happiness. happy people are happyfor all sorts of reasons. the key is not wealth or physical well-being, since wefind beggars, invalids and so-called failures, who are extremely happy.being happy is a sort of unexpected dividend. but staying happy is anaccomplishment, a triumph of soul and character. it is not selfish to strive forit. it is, indeed, a duty to ourselves and others.being unhappy is like an infectious disease. it causes people to shrinkaway from the sufferer. he soon finds himself alone, miserable and embittered.there is, however, a cure so si-mp-le as to seem, at first glance, ridiculous;if you don’t feel happy, pretend to be!it works. before long you will find that instead of repelling people, youattract them. you discover how deeply rewarding it is to be the center of widerand wider circles of good will.then the make-believe becomes a reality. you possethe secret of peace ofmind, and can forget yourself in being of service to others.being happy, once it is realized as a duty and established as a habit, opens doors into unimaginable gardens thronged with grateful friends.。
