There was a rich couple who was throwing a big New Year party at their house. So they went shopping at the market where everything was of high cost and fixed price. They wanted to maintain their level of standard so they didn’t mind paying for it. After purchasing all they needed, they called a porter to carry everything and drop it at their home. The porter who came was of an old age, and looked very unhealthy, and his clothes were torn, and he looked as if he wasn’t even able to meet his daily needs. They asked the porter about the charges for delivering their goods to their home. The old porter quoted just $20, well below the market price. Yet, the couple argued and bargained with the porter and finally settled for $15. The porter was struggling to make even one time’s meal so he needed anything he could earn. The couple was very happy thinking how well they bargained with the poor porter and paid him $15 in advance and left after giving the porter their address for delivery. They reached their home and one hour passed, and two hours passed, but the porter still didn’t deliver their stuff. The wife started to get angry at her husband, “I always tell you not to trust such person, but you never listen to me. I am sure instead of delivering the goods to our home, he must have disappeared with everything. We must immediately go back to the market to inquire and then to the police station to file the complaint against him.”They both left towards the market. On their way near the market, they saw another porter. They stopped him to inquire about the old porter and noticed that he was carrying their goods in his cart! The angry wife asked him, “Where is that old thief? This is our goods and he was supposed to deliver them. It seems you poor thieves are stealing our goods and going to sell them.”Paragraph 1:When the porter heard the angry wife asking.____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________Paragraph 2:Upon hearing this, the husband had tears in his eyes,____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________【答案】Paragraph 1:When the porter heard the angry wife asking, he turned back. The porter replied, “Madam, please calm down. I’m not a thief. That poor old man was sick since last month. He couldn’t earn enough to even have a single meal of the day. Therefo re, he fell down and handed me $15, saying, ‘I have taken an advance for this delivery, and you deliver the goods to the couple’s home.’ Madam, he was poor and hungry, but he was an honest man. I was just on the way to completing the old man’s last delivery to your home.”Paragraph 2:Upon hearing this, the husband had tears in his eyes, and the wife felt so ashamed that she had no courage to look her husband in the eyes. Suddenly she rushed to the market. Half an hour later, the wife came back with some food in her hand. She passed the food on to the porter, and said sorry to the porter, saying that she shouldn’t suspect them, and took them as thieves. At last, the porter took the goods to their house, and the rich couple changed their attitude to the man like the porter.【解析】本篇书面表达是读后续写。

如:calm down, taken an advance, Upon hearing, felt ashamed, changed their attitude等高级词汇;Therefore, he fell down and hand ed me $15, saying, ‘I have taken an advance forthis delivery, and you deliver the goods to the couple’s home.’和She passed the food on to the porter, and said sorry to the porter, saying that she shouldn’t suspect them, and took them as thieves.运用了非谓语动词;the wife felt so ashamed that she had no courage to look her husband in the eyes.运用了so……that句型。

Often he changed direct ion. How long they’d walked Steve had no idea. He just held onto Brady’s leash with one hand and kept putting one foot in front of the other. He was almost numb when he heard the wonderful sound of rushing water. The river! With a yell the boys ran unsteadily forward until they jumped in cool, running water. “Brady, you did it!”[来源:Many years earlier, my mother knew that she could not send me to college and pay for it. She worked in a retail store and made just enough to pay the bills and take care of the other children at home. If I wanted to go to college, it was up to me to find out how to get there.I found that I qualified for some grants because of the size of our family, my mom’s income and my SAT scores. There was enough to cover school and books, but not enough for room and board. I accepted a job as part of a work-study program. Whilenot attractive, it was one I could do. I washed dishes in the school cafeteria.Just when I thought I was going to drop out of my college career, an angel appeared. Well, one of those that are on earth, without wings. “I heard that you need some help,” he said. “What do you mean?” I asked, trying to figure out which area of my life he meant. "Financially, to stay in school.”“Well, I make it okay. I just have trouble working all these hours and finding time to study.”“Well, I think I hav e a way to help you out.”He went on to explain that his grandparents needed help on the weekends. All that was required of me was cooking meals and helping them get in and out of bed in the morning and evening. The job paid fourhundred dollars a month, twice the money I was making washing dishes. Want to know how to survive a plane crash? What about a terrorist attack? To put your mind at ease in nearly any situation, you can almost guarantee your survival if you never leave the house without 3 necessary items,i.e.a lighter(打火机),alifestraw(生命吸管) and a raincoat.Right off the place full of danger, your first instinct(本能) might be to search for help the minute you realize you’re in trouble. But survival experts insist you should stay where you are until help finds you, instead;doing so will make it easier for the search and rescue teams to locate your location. What should you do until then, you ask?Prepare to hunker down(盘腿坐下) for the long run. That’s where your three pieces of survival necessities come intoplay,Stewart says. For one,you should have something to start a fire on you at all times.Fire-starting tools are inexpensive to purchase, and you can easily carry them around in a backpack or pant pocket. But even without a fancy item, all you really need is something to light the first flame.“You can use cotton balls covered in petroleum jelly(凡士林油) as a fire starter,”Stewart told USA TODAY.“They are water resistant and will start a fire with just a spark.”Second, you’ll need something to make your drinki ng water fit to drink, such as a canteen(饭盒) that can boil water.Stewart recommends buying a $20 lifestraw, which “can be struck into the muddiest pool of water you can find and you suck the water out like a straw.” Any doubt? It could still save your life,St ewart says.注意:1.所续写短文的词数应为 150 左右;2.应使用5 个以上短文中标有下划线的关键词语;3.续写部分分为两段,每段的开头词或句子已为你写好;4.续写完成后,请用下划线标出你所使用的关键词语。
