鲨鱼的祖先
鲨鱼在地球上生存了大约3亿5千万年到4亿年之间，比恐龙都来得久远，但
在近 1亿年间则变化不大。鲨鱼的始祖具有利齿和背刺，表皮上的盾鳞比软骨
更易形成化石。目前已知的最原始的鲨鱼是裂口鲨（于美国俄亥俄州的古生代地
层发现），擅长游泳及捕猎，身长有2公尺，背刺前长有2个背鳍，尾形对称，
骨骼则不对称，牙齿呈磨平状，无法再生，与现代的鲨鱼差异甚大，当时也有小
型鲨的存在，但是由于牠们敏捷的速度，往往使牠们在当时的巨鱼环伺下，仍能
存活至今...和人类历史最近的大白鲨祖先化石（6500万年前），长约13公尺，
牙齿约有一个手掌大。
鲨鱼有几种？
世界上约有380种鲨鱼，共分八目三十科，约有27种会攻击人类，12种可能
会攻击人类，还有12种因为体型和习性的关系，可能具有危险性，出现于台湾
地区附近海域者约90种。并非每种鲨鱼都呈流线型，琵琶鲛的身体呈扁平，虎
鲨的头部为钝形，竹鲨的身体为长型。鲨鱼八目中包括了六鳃形目、鼠鲨形目、
真鲨形目、虎鲨形目、扁鲨形目、须鲨形目、角鲨形目、锯鲨形目。其中真鲨形
目和角鲨形目就占了全部种的77﹪，真鲨形目独占56﹪。
鲨鱼有多大？
鲨鱼的体长小至6寸，大至18公尺。最大的鲨鱼是鲸鲨，全长约有18公尺，
最长可达60公尺，重达40000公斤，但是牠的牙齿是鲨鱼中最小的，所以牠们
吃浮游生物维生。最小的鲨鱼是侏儒角鲨，长约6-8寸，重不到1磅。不过半数
种类的鲨鱼都不超过1公尺。最大的猎食性鲨鱼则是大白鲨，可一口气吞下整只
海豹。

鲨鱼的分布环境
鲨鱼主要栖息于海洋，只有少数几种会栖息或游入内陆水域。大部份喜欢热带区
域，不过也有例外。整个海洋从海滨到深海都有鲨鱼分布，不过大部份喜欢在海
平面200公尺深的范围。有的鲨鱼还栖息在海床上，如虎鲨、眼斑狗鲛等，甚
至可利用胸鳍在海底爬行。由于深海的温度较稳定，鲨鱼也会藉此到世界各地。
现生鲨鱼的分类
根据外在和内在的特征来分，例如：臀鳍有无、鳍棘有无、肠内螺旋瓣的形状等。
科学家将鲨鱼分成八大目。进行分类时，会先找出每种鲨鱼间的相似处，将关系
相近的种类归成同群。但是并不是所有的种类都能清楚区分，有些难界定的鲨鱼
便暂归同一类。

鲨鱼的嗅觉非常敏锐，这是由于大脑前部有两个叉（鼻囊）伸向口鼻部两侧的鼻
孔，而此叉的感觉非常灵敏。当牠嗅到气味便会转动身体来寻找气味较重的方
向，而气味的来源通常远在0.25哩以外。曾有实验证明，若把鲨鱼的一个鼻孔

鲨鱼的视觉
鲨鱼的视觉远不如嗅觉，但是牠们能很快地看到物体的移动，也能分辨光影对
比，这对捕猎非常有用。至于能否看到颜色仍有很大的争议，不过可以确定的是，
牠们这方面的能力没有硬骨鱼强。鲨鱼眼睛内的虹膜会根据光源强弱收缩或扩
张，而改变瞳孔大小。鲨鱼眼内具有反光球细胞，能吸收更多光线，反射到视网
膜上聚集成影像，即使在夜晚也能看得清清楚楚，并且发出如猫眼般的磷光。在
光 线充足时，鲨鱼会用一层色素把反光球细胞遮住。鲨鱼的视网膜和人类同样
由两种细胞构成，其中杆状细胞能在微光下发挥作用，对光线强弱变化非常敏
感。锥状细胞则负责解析影像细节。鲨鱼也有眼睑，随种类而有固定或移动之分。
真鲨形目甚至有第三个可活动的上眼睑（瞬膜），功能在于鲨鱼撞击时可保护眼
睛。
鲨鱼的味觉
鲨鱼也有味觉。在嘴及食道里面有许多味蕾突起，当察觉不喜欢的味道便会把食
物吐出。
鲨鱼的听觉
鲨鱼听不到声音。牠们的耳为平衡器官，位于头部脑室的两侧，具有三条互成直
角的半规管，帮助判别方位。内淋巴管接头皮的两个孔，内耳中的接收器还具有
和侧线一样的功能，可以接收声波振动，范围可达两公里外。此外，每耳都有小
导管直通头顶的感觉孔。

鲨鱼的其他感觉
鲨鱼身上也具有侧线。侧线是由一些小窝底部的感觉器官所组成，布满纤毛细胞
（类似的纤毛细胞也散布在鲨鱼全身，称为窝器，同样能感觉振动），每个感觉
器官都有小孔道通往皮肤外面，用来感觉水流的振动，距离可达到600公尺外。
这些感觉器官沿着皮下一条纤细的管道直通尾部，吻部下方则分叉，而这条细管
