《A healthy diet》 是译林版小学英语六年级下册第三单元的Story time课文。随着社会经济的发展和人民物质水平的日益提高，合理健康的饮食习惯已经成为人们重点关注的话题。这一话题和学生的生活和健康密切相关，教师应引导学生结合自己的生活实际，对照健康饮食金字塔，了解哪些是健康食品，并分析讨论自己的饮食习惯是否合理。
六年级的学生已经积累了一定的英语知识和英语学习方法，且此话题贴近学生的生活，能激发学生的英语表达欲望。通过学习，学生可以学到表达健康饮食的用语，了解健康饮食的标准，以此及时调整自己的饮食习惯，并能够模仿文本将学到的知识用于实际交流。教师可适时渗透健康教育，引导学生树立合理饮食、健康生活的观念。
本单元呈现了许多和食物相关的词汇，其中大部分都已经学习过。教师可以将食物类词汇整体梳理和归类，同时复习和总结可数名词和不可数名词的划分和用法。教师可以在课前准备一些漂亮的食物图片，包括主食、蔬菜、水果、奶制品和甜品等，用于教学活动中，以便引起学生讨论的兴趣。本板块的课文包括三段内容。前两段以第三人称的叙述方式，对比介绍了Mike和Yang Ling的日常饮食习惯，第三段则呈现了健康饮食金字塔和一个问题，印发学生思考。教师可要求学生根据健康饮食金字塔，分析Mike和Yang Ling的日常饮食习惯是否健康，同时反思自身的日常饮食习惯是否健康。
