1My Bad Habit and How I Fixed ItHi there! My name is Jamie and I'm in the 4th grade. Today I want to tell you all about a really bad habit I used to have and how I finally got rid of it. It was a tough journey, but I'm proud that I stuck with it!You see, ever since I was a little kid, I had this terrible habit of biting my nails. I know, it's pretty gross when you think about it. Having my fingers in my mouth all the time, chewing on my nails until they were raggedy little stubs. Yuck!My parents and teachers were always telling me to stop. "Jamie, that's a nasty habit!" they'd say. "You're going to make your fingers all ugly and covered in germs!" But I just couldn't seem to quit. Whenever I got bored, nervous, or just had my hands free, my nails would go straight into my mouth without me even realizing it.I tried a few different things to make myself stop, but nothing really worked. My mom painted this gross-tasting bitter nail polish on my nails to make me not want to bite them. But after a few days, I got used to the yucky taste and kept right on biting. She also tried those funny-looking plastic nail covers, but I'd inevitably bite those off too. Then in 3rd grade, my teacher Mrs. Robinson had a great idea. She gave our whole class a "habit tracker" sheet to fill out each day, where we could track any habits we wanted to change. Biting my nails was definitely going on my sheet! Each day, I had to mark whether I bit my nails that day or not. If I bit them, even once, I'd put a sad face. But if I made it through without biting, I got to draw a smiley face! Mrs. Robinson promised that if we could go two whole weeks with all smiley faces, she'd give us a prize.Well, let me tell you, the first few days of tracking were rough. Sad faces galore on my sheet as my nail-biting habit was really hard to break. But I was determined to get that prize, so I tried my best to keep my hands away from my mouth.Whenever I felt the urge to bite, I'd play with a stress ball or rubber band instead. Or I'd run my nails along my jeans or desk, feeling the texture to keep them busy. Gum and lollipops alsohelped by giving my mouth something else to chew on. And if I just couldn't resist, I'd go to the bathroom and take a little "nail break" where I could bite just a tiny bit to get it out of my system. After the first week of really working hard, I was able to get a few smiley faces on my chart. That made me feel so proud and motivated to keep going! By the end of the second week, despite a couple slip-ups, I had enough smiles to get the prize - a bouncy ball! Woohoo!Mrs. Robinson said she was really impressed with how hard I'd worked. She told me that making a habit tracker was a great way to become aware of your bad habits and actively work to change them. And the smiley face rewards gave me an extra push to keep trying. From then on, I kept using my habit tracker for nail biting. Some weeks were better than others, but I could see myself slowly breaking that terrible habit over time. Whenever I had a bad day and bit my nails a lot, I just forgave myself and tried again the next day. It wasn't about being perfect, but about making an effort. After a few months, I realized I barely ever bit my nails anymore! The habit tracker had really worked. My nails could finally grow nice and long, and I didn't have to worry about thembeing gross and germy. I was so proud that I'd overcome my bad habit through hard work and determination. So if you've got a bad habit you want to break, I highly recommend making your own habit tracker. Maybe it's something like nail biting, hair pulling, cracking your knuckles, or even just watching too much TV. Whatever it is, the tracker will really help you become more aware of when you're doing it. And those smiley face rewards are great motivation! It's not easy to change an old habit, but taking it one day at a time and celebrating your successes can make a big difference. I'm living proof that even a really stubborn kid like me can overcome their bad habits with the right tools and mindset. So go make your tracker today and get ready to break free!篇2My Bad Habit and How I Fixed ItHi there! My name is Jamie and I'm 10 years old. Today I want to tell you all about a really bad habit I used to have and how I was finally able to get rid of it. Are you ready? Here goes! When I was younger, probably around 6 or 7 years old, I started this really yucky habit of biting my nails. Ew, gross, right?I don't know why I started doing it, but once I did, I just couldn't seem to stop! No matter how many times my parents or teachers told me it was bad for me and that I should quit, the nail-biting continued. My poor little fingernails always looked ragged and chewed up. Sometimes I would bite them so much that my fingers would bleed a little bit. That's how bad this habit of mine had become! My mom said I could get an infection from biting my nails too much. I hated that I did it but I just got so nervous or bored and would start gnawing away before I even realized what I was doing.I tried a few different things to make myself stop biting my nails, but nothing really worked at first. My dad painted this yucky-tasting bitter nail polish on my fingernails to try to gross me out, but I just got used to the bad taste after a while. My mom put bandages on my fingers, but I would just peel those off and keep on biting. I was a really determined nail-biter!Finally, my third grade teacher Miss Jackson had an idea. She made me wear these weird rubber finger covers called "nail bites" over my fingernails. They were bright blue and really thick so I couldn't bite my nails even if I wanted to. Miss Jackson said ifshe caught me biting my nails during class, I would have to keep the nail bites on during recess too. That really motivated me!The first few days with the nail bites were so hard. My fingers felt all bulky and I couldn't do a lot of things easily like snap my fingers or tie my shoes. But I didn't want to miss out on playing during recess time, so I was extra careful not to bite. Slowly, I started getting used to the feeling of the nail bites. And after a while, I didn't even think about biting my nails anymore - the bad habit was finally broken! After a few weeks of wearing those goofy nail bite covers, Miss Jackson let me take them off. I was so proud of myself for breaking my nail-biting habit. My fingernails finally started growing out long and smooth again. No more ragged, chewed up nails for me! Whenever I feel like biting them now, I make a fist and squeeze my fingers against my palm to resist the urge. It's actually become a good habit to stop a bad one.I'm so glad I was finally able to kick that nasty nail-biting habit. My fingers look and feel so much better now. If any of you have a bad habit you want to break, try using something weird like nail bites to get you started. And be patient - it takes time to form a new good habit to replace an old bad one. But I know you can do it if you really try hard enough. Just look at me!Thanks for reading all about my journey to stop biting my nails. I'm so proud that I don't do it anymore. Next up, maybe I'll work on finally making my bed every morning like my mom is always nagging me about. Baby steps, right? Catch you later!篇3My Bad Habit and How I Fixed ItHi there! My name is Tommy and I'm going to tell you about a really bad habit I used to have. It was a super yucky habit, and I'm kind of embarrassed to even talk about it. But my mom says it's important to be honest, so I'll just come right out and say it - I used to bite my nails like crazy!Ew, gross, right? I know. It's a pretty disgusting thing to do. But I just couldn't seem to stop myself. Whenever I was bored, or nervous, or just sitting around doing nothing, my fingers would automatically go straight into my mouth and I'd start gnawing away. Chomp, chomp, chomp. My nails were always raggedy and gross-looking. Sometimes I'd even make them bleed! My parents got so mad at me about it. "Tommy, stop biting your nails this instant!" they'd yell. "That's a horrible, filthy habit!" My dad said I was going to get worms from putting my dirty fingers in my mouth all the time. Ick! My mom threatened to putthis really nasty-tasting stuff on my nails to make me stop. I'm talking super gross and gaggy tasting. Like licking a mud pie or something. Just thinking about it makes me want to barf!At school, the other kids would tease me too. "Hey Nibbles, having a snack?" they'd joke when they saw me going to town on my cuticles. I'd get so embarrassed and try to hide my hands, but I just couldn't quit. Nail biting had become such a hard habit to break. One day, my teacher Miss Reynolds pulled me aside after class. "Tommy, I've noticed you have a little nail biting problem," she said gently. "Would you like me to help you stop?"I nodded shyly. To be honest, I was sick of my disgusting habit too. My nails were constantly ripped up and bleeding. Sometimes I'd get little pieces of nail stuck in my throat and start choking. Not fun!Miss Reynolds gave me a few suggestions for beating my nail biting habit. First, she said I should put a rubber band around my wrist. Whenever I felt like biting my nails, I was supposed to pull the rubber band and snap it against my wrist - not too hard, just enough for a little sting. That was meant to remind me to stop. She also told me to get one of those bitter nail polishes that taste really yucky. That way, if I did put my fingers in my mouth, I'd get a gross taste that would hopefully help break the habit. Miss Reynolds said I could even paint the nail polish on the inside of a bottle cap and just carry the cap with me to smell the nasty smell when I got the urge to bite. Smelling something super bitter might stop me in my tracks! The last thing she suggested was finding something else to do with my hands when I got fidgety. Maybe I could squeeze a stress ball or stretch a big rubber band between my fingers. Keeping my hands busy with another activity might help me stop putting them in my mouth all the time.I decided to try all three of Miss Reynolds' ideas. The rubber band snap was probably the most helpful at first. Whenever my fingers started creeping up towards my face, SNAP! That little sting would jolt me back to reality. The nasty bitter nail polish smell was pretty gross too though. I hated catching a whiff of that - it really turned my stomach! At first, it was really, really hard to break my nail biting habit. I'd been doing it for so long, it felt totally natural and normal to me. My bad habit was deeply ingrained. But I kept at it, using therubber band trick and the bitter polish deterrents. Slowly but surely, I started biting my nails less and less.It probably took a few months before I was completely nail bite-free. There were lots of times when I slipped up and started nibbling again. But I didn't get discouraged. I just grabbed the rubber band or sniffed the nasty polish and got right back on track. These days, I'm proud to say I finally kicked my terrible nail biting habit for good! My nails actually look nice and neat now, not all gnawed up and gross. Whenever I get fidgety, I use a squeezable stress ball instead of putting my fingers in my mouth. It's become a new habit to replace the old yucky one.My parents and friends are really proud of me for breaking such a tough habit. And I'm proud of myself too! It wasn't easy, but I stuck with it. I'm just glad I don't have to deal with those nasty nail-biting habits anymore. From now on, my hands can stay out of my mouth where they belong! So that's my story about overcoming a bad habit. I hope it inspires you to break any bad habits you might have too. Just take it step-by-step, and don't get discouraged. If an elementary kid like me could do it, you can too! Thanks for reading, and remember - no more nail biting!篇4My Bad Habit and How I Fixed ItHi, my name is Tommy and I'm 10 years old. I go to Oakwood Elementary School. I want to tell you about a really bad habit I used to have and how I was able to finally stop doing it.My bad habit was biting my nails. I know, it's kind of gross, but I just couldn't seem to stop! I had been a nail biter for as long as I could remember. It started when I was really little, maybe 4 or 5 years old. Whenever I got bored or nervous, I would just start chewing on my fingernails without even realizing it.At first, my parents would gently remind me to stop biting and take my fingers out of my mouth. But after a while, they got really frustrated with me because I just kept doing it over and over again. My nails were super short and kind of ragged looking from all the biting. Sometimes my fingertips would even bleed a little bit or get sore. Yuck!My teachers also noticed my nail biting habit and would call me out on it in class. Once, my 3rd grade teacher Mr. Jenkins made me wear a pair of big puffy oven mitts for a whole day to prevent me from biting! I felt so embarrassed having to wearthose silly mitts and not being able to use my hands properly. All the other kids teased me and called me "Mitten Hands."My parents tried a bunch of different ways to get me to quit nail biting. They put that crazy bitter tasting nail polish on my nails that is supposed to discourage kids from putting their fingers in their mouths. But I got used to the gross taste and just kept on biting anyway. We tried sticker charts and rewards if I went without biting for a certain amount of time. I'd be good for a little while to get the prize, but then I'd be right back at it.The nail biting was just something I did without even thinking about it. If I was watching TV, reading a book, or working on homework, my fingers would somehow end up in my mouth gnawing away. My parents said it was an anxious habit and I should try to be more aware of it and control the urges. Easier said than done! Finally, in 4th grade, I decided I was too篇5My Bad Habit and How I Fixed ItHi there! My name is Jamie and I'm in 5th grade. Today I want to tell you all about a really bad habit I used to have andhow I was able to fix it. It's kind of an embarrassing story, but I've learned that it's important to be honest about our mistakes so we can grow and improve. My bad habit was... well, it was picking my nose. Ew, gross, right? I know, I know. It's a really yukky and germy thing to do. But for some reason, as a little kid, I just couldn't stop doing it! Whenever I was watching TV, reading a book, or just spacing out, my finger would slowly creep up towards my nostril without me even realizing it. Next thing I knew, I'd be going to town up there mining for gold! The worst part was, sometimes I wouldn't even notice I was doing it until my mom or dad caught me red-handed (orred-nosed?) and yelled "Jamie! Stop picking your nose, that's disgusting!" Then I'd get all embarrassed and quickly pull my finger out and wipe it on my pants like nothing happened. But they always knew. Parents have a sixth sense for that kind of gross stuff, you know?At school it was even worse because all the other kids would tease me mercilessly if they saw me doing it. "Ewwww, Jamie's picking his nose again!" they'd shout across the classroom or on the playground. Some of them even started calling me "BoogerBoy" as a mean nickname. I felt so ashamed and just wanted to disappear into a hole in the ground whenever it happened.I tried really hard to stop, but that pesky habit just kept creeping back up on me (no pun intended!) Whenever I was bored or zoning out, my finger would slowly make its way back up to my nostril before I could stop it. It was like some sort of weird reflex that I had no control over. No matter how much I promised myself I wouldn't do it, I just couldn't seem to break the cycle. Finally, after being teased one too many times and having a good long cry in the bathroom stall, I decided enough was enough. I was determined to kick this disgusting habit once and for all. But I knew I couldn't do it alone - I needed help and accountability from others. So I went to my parents and my teacher Ms. Jackson and I told them the truth - that I had a really bad nose picking problem that I couldn't seem to stop, no matter how hard I tried. I was so embarrassed to admit it, but I knew it was the only way to get the support I needed. At first my parents and Ms. Jackson kind of laughed about it, which made me want to die of embarrassment all over again. Butthen they saw how serious and upset I was, and they stopped laughing and agreed to help me however they could. Here's what we did: First, my parents came up with a system of rewards and consequences. Every day I went without picking my nose, I got a gold star sticker on a chart. But every time I slipped up, I had to do an extra chore around the house as a consequence. It was a way to motivate me to keep trying and remind me that there would be negative results if I fell back into my bad habit.Ms. Jackson, meanwhile, gave me a little handheld clicker that I could keep in my desk. Any time I felt the urge to pick my nose during class, I was supposed to click the clicker instead. It was a way to interrupt the habit and break the cycle before my finger made its way up there. Whenever I heard that littleclick clickit reminded me of what I was about to do and helped me stop myself. The first couple of weeks were really, really hard. I felt that urge to pick constantly, and I failed a bunch of times. I had to do a ton of extra chores and only got a few gold star stickers. But my parents and teacher kept encouraging me and reminding mewhy it was so important to break this gross habit. Slowly but surely, I started getting better at resisting the urge.Whenever I felt that tingling, itchy feeling in my nose, I would do a few things: Click the clicker, take a big deep breath, rub my nose firmly with a tissue to get rid of the itch, and then put my hands under my legs or in my pockets so I physically couldn't pick. I also started keeping my nails trimmed nice and short so there was nothing to pick with even if I tried. If I was really struggling, I would look at my sticker chart or think about all the chores I'd have to do, and that would motivate me to try harder. Having others keep me accountable like that was super helpful. After a few months of really working hard at it, something篇6My Bad Habit and How I Fixed ItHi there! My name is Tommy and I'm 10 years old. Today I want to tell you all about a really bad habit I used to have. It was a pretty yucky habit, but I was finally able to break it. Let me start from the beginning...When I was around 7 years old, I started biting my nails. At first, it was just occasional nail biting here and there. But before long, it became an awful addiction! I was a nail biter through and through.I bit my fingernails all the time - at home, at school, you name it. My nails were constantly short and jagged from me gnawing on them with my teeth. Whenever I got nervous, frustrated, bored, or upset about something, I'd immediately stick my fingers in my mouth and start chewing away.My parents hated my nail biting habit SO much. "Tommy, quit biting your nails! It's a horrible, unsanitary practice," they'd scold me. But I just couldn't seem to stop. Biting my nails had become an uncontrollable compulsion that was really hard to break. The thing was, I knew nail biting was a gross and germy habit, but I kept on doing it anyway. My nails were ragged and my fingers always had little bite marks all over them from tearing into the skin with my teeth. Sometimes I'd bite my nails so much that my fingers would start bleeding! Ick!Not only that, but biting my nails made my fingers look terrible. The skin around my nails was red, irritated, and peelingfrom all the harsh biting and picking. My nails themselves were just ugly stubs. It was not a pretty sight at all!I got teased a lot by the other kids at school because of my nasty nail biting addiction. "Hey Tommy, nice fingers!" they'd joke. Or they'd call me "Nail Biter" as an insulting nickname. It was so embarrassing and it really hurt my feelings. I wished more than anything that I could just break my bad habit once and for all.Biting my nails also caused me to get sick more often. By constantly putting my dirty fingers in my mouth, I was exposing myself to all kinds of yucky germs and bacteria. No wonder I was always catching colds and stomach bugs! Nail biting is super unsanitary. My bad habit even started interfering with my hobbies and interests. I loved playing guitar, but biting my nails made it hard to properly strum and pluck the strings. The jagged edges of my bitten nails would get caught on the strings sometimes. It was so frustrating!I also really enjoyed art projects like drawing, painting, and making crafts. But having ugly, ragged nails with bite marks all over my fingers made it hard to grip pencils, brushes, and artsupplies properly. My nail biting habit was ruining the things I loved to do!Finally, after years of being a chronic nail biter, I decided enough was enough. I was determined to break my terrible habit once and for all, no matter how hard it was. I felt gross about myself and I didn't want to be known as "Nail Biter" anymore. The first thing I did was ask my parents for help and support.I explained to them how much I really wanted to stop biting my nails, and I asked if they had any suggestions or strategies that could help me quit.My parents were SO happy and proud of me for wanting to break my bad habit. My mom suggested putting a gross-tasting bitter nail polish on my nails to deter me from biting them. My dad bought me a little bottle of clear nail polish to use instead of chewing.Whenever I felt the urge to bite my nails, I was supposed to paint them with the clear polish first. It made my nails taste really bad and bitter if I tried biting them. This "taste deterrent" method was actually pretty helpful for breaking my habit!I also tried keeping my nails trimmed and filed neatly so there weren't any rough edges or hangnails that would temptme to bite or pick at them. Having neatly groomed nails made it easier to avoid biting them.Another thing that really helped was finding alternate ways to keep my hands busy. Instead of biting my nails when I was bored, antsy, or nervous, I'd squeeze a stress ball, play with a fidget spinner, or flip a pencil around in my fingers. Keeping my hands occupied with little gadgets prevented me from mindlessly sticking my nails in my mouth.I also made myself aProgress Chart to visually track how many days I could go without biting my nails. Seeing the number of days add up gave me a sense of accomplishment and motivated me to keep resisting my nail biting urges. It wasn't easy, but slowly but surely, I was able to break my terrible nail biting addiction through discipline and determination. I hit some setbacks where I'd bite my nails without thinking, but then I'd get right back on track. After several months of hard work and using all the techniques I mentioned, I can finally say that I'm a former nail biter! It's been over 6 months since I last bit my nails, and I'm so proud of myself. My nails are longer, smoother, and prettier than they've ever been. The skin around them is healthy instead of ragged and chewed up. My fingers look so much better now that I've quit biting my unsightly nails. Not only that, but breaking my nail biting habit has had other great benefits too. I don't get sick as often since I'm no longer constantly putting germy fingers in my mouth. Playing guitar and doing arts and crafts is much easier without nails bitten down to the quick.I'm just so glad I was able to overcome my bad habit of nail biting after struggling with it for years. It took a lot of perseverance, but it was worth it to finally break the uncontrollable urge. I feel so much better about myself and my appearance now.If you have a bad habit you've been wanting to break, don't give up! With the right strategies and determination, you can overcome it just like I did. It won't be easy, but kick that bad habit's butt! Believe in yourself. If I can quit nail biting after being so addicted to it, you can break your bad habit too!。
