在汉语和英语中，都有很多与动物有关的谚语，由于中西方的文化差异，同一类动物所具有的象征意义有所不同，甚至有很大的反差。所以我们要更多地了解西方的文化，才能学到更地道的英语，避免因为文化差异，在用英语交流时闹出笑话。
Cat 猫
1. A cat in gloves （手套） catches no mice.
吃不了苦，一事无成。

Wolf 狼
1. The wolf may lose his teeth， but never his
nature.
狼的牙齿会掉，但本性却改不了。（指本性

注：It rains cats and dogs意为“倾盆大雨”，这一习语的来源有不同说法。一个说法是这个短语起源于北欧，在挪威神话中，猫被认为可以影响天气，驾着风暴而来的女巫据说就是化身为猫的，而狗和狼则是风暴神欧丁的随从，其中，狗是“风”的象征。另外一种说法是17世纪的英格兰在下大雨的时候，由于街道排水设施太差，一下大雨就会水流成河，许多猫和狗被淹死，水流走后，街上都是猫和狗的尸体。还有一种说法是它来源于一个古老的法语词
“catadoupe”， 意为瀑布，它的发音和 “cats and dogs” 有些相像，所以就有了 “rain cats and
