阅读理解Physical Exercise
Declaring that physical exercise is one of the most powerful medicines to help improve our quality of life is not anexaggeration. The World Health Organization expressed the same view in its 2002 World Heath Report.emphasizing that thedamage produced by lack of physical activity was equal to the strong probability of serious illness such as heart disease andeven some kinds of cancer.
Those who have embraced an active lifestyle for years are familiar with the sort of physical and psychological benefits thatcome from exercise. Nevertheless a lot of people would never think of physical activity as a way of feeling better, simplybecause they don’think they are in need of it.Or because they are lazy or maintain that they haven’t got enough time.
There are many positive effects that result from physical exercise and they are not only concerned with the physical aspectsbut also psychological and social ones.

第⼀篇:Genetic EngineeringGenetic engineering began when the DNA molecule(分⼦), the most basic unit of life, was first described in 1953 byJames Watson and Francis Crick. An understanding of DNA led to the altering of normal cell reproduction. Experiments withaltering human cells began in 1970. In one of the first experiments, patients were injected with a virus that would produce alife-saving enzyme, but their bodies would not accept it. In 1980 patients with a rare but fatal blood disease were injectedwith a purified gene that was cloned through DNA technology. Another failure.
Genetic engineering got a legal boost(激励) in 1980. The U.S. Supreme Court said that a patent could be granted on agenetically engineered "oil-eating" bacterium(细菌)。 This bacterium would help clean up oil spills. The rulingencouraged companies to invent new life forms, and three important medical products were quickly developed.
