制冷是指用机械方法，从一个有限的空间内取出热量，使该处的温度降低到所要求的程度。
这个过程是靠热传递来完成的。
有关制冷的一些常用名词术语简单介绍如下：1.1 温度温度被用来表示物质冷与热的程度，温度的高低的程度可用温度计来度量，如玻璃温度计，管内的液体受热后膨胀，液面升高，冷却收缩后，液面降低，液面的高低表示温度的高低程度。
下面简要介绍表示温度值的几种标准。
a．摄氏温标在标准大气压下，把水的冰点作为0度，沸点作为100度，在0度与100度之间均衡的刻成100格，每格为l度，以符号℃表示。
b．华氏温标在标准大气压下，把水的冰点定为32度，而沸点定为212度、二者之间均衡的刻成180格，每格为l度，以符号oF表示。
c．开氏温标(又称绝对温标)它以摄氏温标为基础、把水的冰点定为273.16度，水的沸点定为373．16度，理论上把物质中分子全部停止运动之点作为0度，以符号K表示。
常用温标是摄氏、华氏、开氏。
它们之间的换算公式如下：华氏换算摄氏：摄氏换算成华氏：开氏与摄氏的关系：T= t + 273.16式中： T：开氏温标，K； t：摄氏温标，oC。
1.2 热量物体温度的高低表示了物体的物质分子热运动剧烈的程度，温度的高低也表示物体所具有能量的高低，这种能量称为热能。
当温度不同的两个物体相接触时，两者温度逐步趋于一致，发生了热能从温度较高的物体向温度较低的物体转移，此时物体所放出或吸收的能量称为热量。
常用的热量单位有：a. 卡在标准大气压力下，将l克的水加热或冷却，其温度升高或降低l ℃时，所加进或除去的热量称为l卡，以符号cal表示。
因卡的单位太小，工程上往往采用其1000倍的千卡或大卡来表示。
具符号为kcal。
b. 英热单位在标准大气压下，将11b(磅)(11b＝0.454kg)水加热或冷却，其温度升高或降低华氏温度l oF，所加进或除去的热量称为一个英热单位，其符号为Btu。
c. 焦耳在国际单位制中，取热量单位与功的单位一致，以焦耳表示。
焦耳相当于用1N(牛顿)的力，共作用点在力的方向上移动l m(米)所做的功。
因此，在国际单位制中，焦耳是功和能的单位，采用这种单位使计算简化，焦耳的符号为J。
我国法定热量单位为焦耳。
焦耳与卡之间的换算为：1 kJ(千焦耳)＝0.239kcaI(千卡)l kcal(千卡)＝4.19kJ(千焦耳)其它常用换算公式为：1 kcal(千卡)＝3.969 Btu(英热单位)l Btu(英热单位)＝252 cal(卡)1 kcal(千卡)＝427 kg·m(千克·米)1 kW(千瓦)＝860 kca1／h(千卡／时)1 美国冷吨＝3024 kca1／h(千卡／时)1日本冷吨＝3320 kca1／h(千卡／时)1.3 比热任何物质当加进热量，它的温度会升高。
但相同质量的不同物质，升高同样温度时，其所加进的热量是不一样的。
为相互比较，把l kg水温度升高1 ℃所需的热量定为4.19kJ。
以此作为标准，其它物质所需的热量与它的比值，称为比热。
如l kg水温度升高l ℃需4.19kJ，则比热值为 4.19kJ(kg·℃)，而l k g铜温度升高l ℃只需0.39kJ，则铜的比热为0.39kJ(kg·℃)。
不同材料有各自的比热值，下表为几种材料的比热值。
几种材料比热值知道材料比热值，就能计算出对它降温所需要除去的热量。
例如要将5kg 70℃的水冷却到15℃，则需除去的热量为： Q＝mcD t = 5×4.19×(70-15)＝l152.25 kJ式中：m: 水的质量，kg； c：水的比热kJ(k g·K)；D t：温度差值 K。
1.4 显热对固态、液态或气态的物质加热，只要它的形态不变，则热量加进去后，物质的温度就升高，加进热量的多少在温度上能显示出来，即不改变物质的形态而引起其温度变化的热量称为显热。
如对液态的水加热，只要它还保持液态，它的温度就升高；因此，显热只影响温度的变化面不引起物质的形态的变化。
例如机房中、其计算机或程控交换机的发热量很大，它属于显热。
1.5 潜热对液态的水加热，水的温度升高，当达到沸点时，虽然热量不断的加入，但水的温度不升高，一直停留在沸点，加进的热量仅使水变成水蒸气，即由液态变为气态。
这种不改变物质的温度而引起物态变化(又称相变)的热量称为潜热。
如计算机房中、工作人员人体发热以及换气带进来的空气含湿量，这些热量称为潜热。
(全热等于显热与潜热之和。
)1.6 压力气体由分子组成，亿万分子在无规则的运动中，频繁撞击容器内壁，在内壁单位表面积上垂直产生的力称为压力。
在工程中测量气体压力的常用单位是：千克／厘米2、或为mmHg(毫米汞柱)，我国的法定单位是 Pa(帕斯卡)。
a. 大气压力包围地球的空气层对单位地球表面积形成的压力称为大气压力。
通常用 B 表示。
单位用帕 Pa或千帕 kPa表示。
大气压力随各地海拔高度不同而存差异。
还因季节、气候的变化稍有高低。
由于大气压力不同，空气的物理性质和反映空气物理性质的状态参数均要发生变化。
所以，在空气调节的设计和运行中，要考虑当地气压的大小，否则会造成一定的误差。
压力分三种：用仪表测定的压力(称工作压力，即表压力)、当地大气压和绝对压力。
其相互关系：绝对压力＝当地大气压十工作压力只有绝对压力才是湿空气的状态参数。
b．水蒸汽分压力与饱和水蒸汽分压力在湿空气中，水蒸汽单独占有湿空气的容积，并且有与湿空气相同温度时所产生的压力，称为水蒸汽分压力，用Pq表示。
湿空气是干空气和水蒸汽组成的混合气体，因此湿空气的总压力应由干空气分压力 Pg；与水蒸汽的分压力Pq迭加而成。
即 P＝Pg十Pq 或 B＝Pg十Pq在空调工程中所考虑的湿空气就是大气，所以湿空气的总压力P就是当地大气压力B。
在一定温度下，空气越潮湿，其水蒸汽含量就越多，水蒸汽分压力就越大。
当水蒸汽含量超过某一限量时，多余的水蒸汽就会凝成水析出。
这说明，此时，湿空气中的水蒸汽含量达到最大限度、该湿空气处于饱和状态，称饱和空气；此时相应的水蒸汽分压力称为饱和水蒸汽分压力。
该压力仅取决于温度，温度越高，其压力值越大。
于此同时，压力和沸点的关系也很大，降低压力能使液体的沸点降低，增加压力则使沸点升高。
因此每一个作用于液体的压力就有一个对应的沸点。
例如1.0133×l05Pa下。
水在100℃时沸腾；若压力升高到2.41×105Pa，水的沸点为138℃；若压力降低到0.43×105Pa，水的沸点为84．5℃。
在制冷系统中，用控制蒸发压力来达到控制蒸发温度的目的。
1.7 蒸发与沸腾 蒸发是指在液体自由表面进行气化的过程。
例如，水的蒸发。
衣服的凉干过程。
蒸发是由于液体表面上具有较高能量的分子克服液体分子的引力、穿出液面到达空间而形成的。
在相同环境下、液体温度越高，则蒸发越快。
制冷工程中，许多问题都涉及到蒸发过程，例如冷却塔及空调中的加湿与干燥过程等。
红外加湿器的加湿属表面蒸发过程。
沸腾是指液体内部产生气泡形式的剧烈气化过程。
例如，水的烧开过程。
在一定压力下，液体加热到一定的温度才开始沸腾。
在整个沸腾过程中，液体吸收的热量全部用于自身的容积膨胀与相变，故气液温度保持不变。
如电极加湿器属于沸腾过程。
1.8 导热系数(亦称热导率)导热系数是表示一种材料传导热量能力的一个物理量。
如两块同样厚的材料，一块是铜块，一块是软木块，把它们放在比本身温度高的环境中，可立即感觉到铜块温度升高，而对软木块则在短时间内感受不到。
这说明两种材料对热量传导的能力不同，把这种材料对热量的不同传导能力以数字表示就称为导热系数，其数值等于：当材料层的厚度为 l m，两边温度差为1 ℃，在 1 h内通过 l m2表面积所传导的热量，以符号l 表示，单位是 kcal／mh℃，国家法定单位是 W／mK或用 J／mhK表示，它们之间的换算关系是：1W／mK = 0.860 kcal ／mh℃。
不同材料有不同导热系数，它与材料的成份、密度、分子结构等因素有关。
同一种材料，影响其导热系数的主要因素是密度和湿度。
密度大则导热系数大，湿度大则导热系数亦大。
1.9 放热系数当冻结一种物质时，如在表面吹风则它的冻结速度比不吹风时快。
表示这种不同物质之间在不同状态下换热能力的物理量称为放热系数，其数值等于每小时、每平方米面积上，当流体和固体壁之间的温度差为l ℃时所传递的热量。
以符号a表示，其单位为 kcal／(m2h℃)，国际单位制是 W／(m2 k)或 J ／(m2h℃)、两者之间换算关系为：1W／(m2K)＝0.860kcal／(m2h℃)1.10 传热系数热量从高温侧流体透过平壁转移到低温侧流体。
这种热量传递的能力除与两侧温差、传热面积的大小有关外，还与平壁的导热系数，平壁的厚度及壁面两侧的放热系数有关。
把所有因素列成一个方程式，即：Q＝KFD t (kJ／h)式中：Q：传递的热量(kJ／h)；F：平壁的表面积(m2)；D t ：温差 D t ＝t1-t2(℃)； K：传热系数 kJ／(m2h℃)K为传热系数，它数值上等于当两侧温差l℃时、l h通过 l m2传热面积，从一侧热流体传到另一侧冷流体所传递的热量。
单位是kJ／(m2h℃)或 W／(m2k)。
1.11 比容和密度单位容积的湿空气所具有的质量称为密度。
用符号r 表示，即：而单位质量的湿空气所占有的容积称为比容，用符号 V表示，即：式中： m：湿空气的质量，单位为 kg；v：湿空气占有的容积，单位为 m3。
两者互为倒数，因此，只能视为一个状态参数。
1.12 湿度湿度是表示湿空气中含有水蒸汽量多少的物理量，有三种表示方法。
a．绝对湿度l m3湿空气中含水蒸汽的质量。
符号为Z，单位为 kg／m3，即：式中：mq：水蒸汽质量，单位为kg；V：水蒸汽占有的容积，即湿空气的容积，单位为 m3。
绝对湿度使用起来不方便。
它不能直接反映出湿空气的干湿程度。
b. 含湿量每公斤干空气所含有水蒸汽量称为含湿量，符号为d，单位为 kg／kg(干)，即：式中：mq：湿空气中水蒸汽质量，单位为kg； mg：湿空气中干空气质量，单位为kg。
b．相对湿度湿空气中水蒸汽分压力和同温度下饱和水蒸汽分压力之比，称为相对湿度。
用符号j 表示，即：式中：Pq：水蒸汽分压力 Pqb；同温度下饱和水蒸汽分压力从式中可知，j 值小，表示空气较干燥，反之，空气较潮湿。
当j ＝0时，为干空气；j ＝100%时，为饱和空气。
从j 值大小可直接看出空气的干湿程度。
j 和d都是表示空气的湿度参数，含意却不同，d表示水蒸汽的含量多少，却不能表示空气接近饱和的程度；而j 能表示空气接近饱和程度，却不能表示水蒸汽的含量多少。
