本课时教学内容在单元中的第一课时。该部分的活动的主题是“分享交流对历史遗迹的看法”(Share views on historic sites)。通过课前视频引入有关孔子这个重要的历史人物介绍，然后切入听一段中外学生在去孔庙路上的对话，了解他们对孔庙、孔子、孔子后裔及孔子教育思想的看法，从而体会、思考孔子及其思想对中国历史传统的深远影响。同时，对话中自然融入了英语习语并提及了英国剧作家莎士比亚，为学生了解英语习语及其相关的文化典故知识，以及进行中外文化比较提供语料和语境，有助于学生感悟历史、传统、文化、习俗等对语言理解和表达的重要影响。既体现了语言、文化、历史、传统的有机结合，又反映出中英两国对历史传统的尊重与保护，同时也为后面Reading and Thinking板块的英国内容进行预热和铺垫。文本从外国游客的视角，描写他们对于孔子这位对中国历史与文化传统产生深刻影响的伟大人物的好奇、仰慕和喜爱，并由孔子后人Xiao Kong来介绍有关孔子后裔及其教育思想等方面的情况，语境创设真实，容易引起学生的兴趣和共鸣。
