"听、说、读、写是人类使用语言的4种方式,也是人类语言能力的4个组成部分。
写是使用语言的书面表达能力之一,在《新课程标准》中对写已作出定性定量的要求,并指出:"在听说训练的基础上,再进行适当的读写训练,有利于巩固听说训练的成果。
"由此可见,在课堂教学中施行写的形式之一,笔头练习的必要性。
随着学科领域整体改革的深入发展,小学英语课堂教学也发生可喜的变革。
教师从认识到实践,根据小学英语教学大纲,考虑教材的内容和形式的实际,结合小学生的年龄特点和学习外语心理的特点,突出听说训练的地位,使学生的听说能力与教学内容的程度较为一致,培养了学生初步的运用外语的表达能力和交际能力。
但与此同时,亦出现了忽略笔头练习的倾向。
即使采用了笔头练习,但却缺乏科学的设计及合理的编排。
例如,在单课(新授课)的课堂教学中,尽是大量的听说训练。
在双课(巩固课)的课堂教学中,笔头练习只是作为一种弹性的安排,往往因时间不够便作为家庭作业。
或只在一节课集中笔头练习,练习的内容多半是练习册整单元的习题,也有是从内容到题型都大体相同的社会上销售的练习题。
"学生会读课文了,在课堂也上会口头用英语表达,但为什么遇到写(做作业,做考题)就出现这样或那样的差错呢?"这一令老师们感到困惑不解的问题,正是上面所述的对笔头练习的安排的负效应。
在考试卷里,我们也可看到学生书面应用英语能力欠佳种种问题。
当然,过去那种只重视笔头练习而忽视听说练习,把学生培养为"高分低能"型的做法不应该再生。
至少,在课堂教学中缺乏布局合理的笔头练习是一种不完美的教学。
笔头练习和听说练习一样,是完成课堂教学任务,达到教学目的的主要途径。
笔头练习具有帮助学生为加深记忆痕迹而联系旧知识的复现功能;笔头练习具有帮助学生把口语和书面语挂钩的连结功能;笔头练习具有帮助学生对知识进行汇集、归纳、比较的综合功能;笔头练习还具有帮助学生在比重大的听说训练中消除学习疲劳的调节功能。
