一、教材分析
本课是新目标英语八年级下册第五单元第一课时内容，以“What
were you doing when the rainstorm came?”为中心话题，让学生通过学习和运用过去进行时,准确地描述过去正在发生的事情。这些内容都与我们的生活密切相关，能够轻松地激起学生学习英语的兴趣。同时，师生、生生之间的交流方式，培养了学生的合作精神，促进了师生、生生之间的情谊，从而提高学生学习英语的积极性。
二、学情分析
学生在七年级下册就学过现在进行时,并已经掌握了如何运用现在进行时来描述日常活动的技巧, 有了一定的知识基础，这些都有利于他们学习过去进行时。本节课的话题紧贴学生生活，容易调动学生的积极性。
三、教学目标
1.知识与技能
a.掌握本课的词汇rainstorm 、when、report、pick up 、at that time、so many times.
b.能用英语谈论过去某个时刻正在发生的事情，并能进行简单的对话和句子的仿写。
2、过程与方法
通过听说训练，让学生能结合具体语言环境，正确理解并运用过 2 去进行时来准确地表达过去某个时刻正在发生的事情。
3、情感态度与价值观
a. 通过询问，来表达了解、关心别人，并增进同学之间的友谊。
b.让学生学会自我保护。
四、教学重点及难点
教学重点:过去进行时态：“was / were + doing”结构；When 引导的时间状语从句。
教学难点:掌握由when引导的时间状语如何使用过去进行时。
为了突出重点，突破难点，我准备通过开展形式多样的活动，紧密结合现实，激发学生的学习热情，提高学生对英语的学习兴趣。

二、学生分析 本课时词汇量不大，但是出现了一个新的时态—过去进行时，介于此，我觉得在本课时应该做到听 说到位,我所用的班级是八年级2班，班级里学生总体英语水平在中上，口语表达较好，优秀生在 50%，充分发挥他们的带头作用，带动中层学生提高，鼓励后进学生大胆的表达，消除心理对语言 的畏惧感，从而达到课堂的和谐，让每个孩子在本节课上都能学有所得。
