But there's a mix-up, and Sophie - who's always dreamed of being a princess - gets put inthe Evil school by mistake! Agatha, who just wants an ordinary life, ends up in the Good school instead. And poor Agatha has to deal with the intense Good student schedule of animal communication and mogrifying. They're another set of books that feature such a richly imagined magical world that you can't help but get swept away into it all.I love how Harry, Ron and Hermione's adventures at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry make magic seem so real and normal, but in a super fascinating way. Like they treat magic classes like we treat regular school subjects. Can youimagine actually having to take Potions or Herbology? That would be insane!Harry is such a brave and loyal hero, you can't help rooting for him through all his run-ins with the evil Voldemort and the Death Eaters. The books get pretty dark and intense towards the end too. I remember being on the edge of my seat when Harry has to take on dementors, giant snakes, and all those other creepy creatures. Chilling stuff!I also have a major soft spot for funny books that make me laugh out loud. Like the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series by Jeff Kinney and the Captain Underpants books by Dav Pilkey. They're just so goofy and relatable.In Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the main character Greg is this awkward middle schooler who always ends up in hilariously cringy situations. Like getting stuck inside a recreational center during a big blizzard or hosting a disastrous birthday party. His best friend Rowley is this goofy kid that gets Greg into even more messes. The animated diary-style drawings make the books even funnier.And the Captain Underpants books...where do I even start? They're about these two total prankster best friends who hypnotize their grumpy principal into becoming a goofysuperhero who runs around in just underwear and a cape. How ridiculous is that?! The books are just packed with tons of silly jokes, comic sections, and wacky cartoon drawings. They always have me cracking up.I could honestly go on and on about all the awesome books I've read and loved. But I think you get the idea - reading rocks! Books can take you anywhere and allow you to experience the most amazing adventures, all from the comfort of your own home. Isn't that just the coolest thing ever?In my opinion, the keys to finding books you really enjoy are exploring different genres until you discover your favorites, being open to wacky plots and ideas, and finding characters you can really connect with. And don't be afraid to re-read your favs over and over again - that's half the fun!Speaking of which, I've got a massive stack of books sitting on my nightstand that I can't wait to dive into again this weekend. My school calendar教学反思B Let’s learn本次观摩课的授课内容是PEP第六册第三单元B部分单词教学，教学目标是掌握六个月份单词的听说读写，以及六个节日短语的听说认读，还有了解节日单词的缩写形式，以及正确运用本课句型等。
重点是六个月份单词的听说读写，难点是让学生了解介词in 和on 的用法的不同。
整个授课思路分六步走，第一步热身，歌曲导入，学生唱一二单元已经很熟悉的歌曲以及教师教唱本单元歌曲，活跃课堂氛围。
第二步复习及导入，课件呈现A部分学过的六个月份单词及相关节日的短语，快速读的小游戏，以及师生问答形式复习所学，引入新知。
第三步授新，课件呈现图片导入，各种形式朗读以及拼读新单词及短语，以及穿插难点讲解和缩写形式。
第四步操练，用一段歌曲再现让学生重唱十二月份，将所学十二个月份单词操练几遍，再用同桌操练问答形式操练本课句型。
第五步巩固，让学生做书上习题，做完再相互说一说，进一步巩固单词和句型。
第六步总结评价及家庭作业，将黑板上的板书齐读一遍，家庭作业是写本课六个单词及相关练习册上的习题。
听课教师对我的课做了很中肯的评价，说了优点缺点若干。
整体的评价就是形象及口语不错，适合去讲公开课，就是缺少激情。
缺点就是整个设计上新授环节用时过多，导致操练不到位，没有将所学充分的运用起来，也就是学生的输出不够，另外细节上的不足之处，就是课件的制作上，没有将单词的音频放上去，还有一个没有照顾到学生的地方，学生在展示的时候对有个单词不太熟悉我没有借机解决这个问题，而是让学生坐下了，有点没有照顾到学生的自尊心。
我自己对这堂课感觉是中规中矩，按流程走完了整个课堂，但是课堂气氛不是我预期的，整体感觉不是很好，最大的问题还是缺乏激情，没有调动学生的情绪。
另外课件出现了一点小问题，下载的音频失效了，还有操练环节的一段音乐也没有播放出来。

I always thought hyenas were part of the dog family, but they're actually more closely related to cats! Hyenas are known as one of the biggest carnivores in Africa and they have hugely powerful jaws to crush bones. I definitely wouldn't want to come across a hungry hyena pack when I'm on safari one day.Of course, we couldn't study animals without looking at our close relatives - the incredible primates. My favorite was the mountain gorilla, which has to be one of the most impressive and intelligent creatures on Earth. Looking at all their pictures and video clips, I felt like I got to travel the whole world just from the classroom.What I really liked best though was learning about how all these animals interact with their environments and ecosystems. The best one was probably the wooden Thunder Coaster, with its super steep drops and rough but rickety tracks. We stayed in a huge hotel right downtown near all the big skyscrapers. One night we went up to the top of the Willis Tower which has an observation deck with glass boxes you can stand in that stick way out from the building. It was scary but awesome! We could see the entire city from up there.Another day, we went to the Museum of Science and Industry which had all kinds of neat exhibits and displays about how things work. My favorite was the coal mine tour where you could go down in an old mine shaft and see what it was like for miners back in the day. Very cool but very dark and dirty too!After Chicago, we drove west towards Colorado. On the way, we stopped at the amazing St. Louis Gateway Arch. It's this massive metal arch that you can actually go up inside of via little pod vehicles. From the top observation room, you can get a great view of the whole city and the Mississippi River. So tall!When we finally made it to Colorado, we went hiking in the Rocky Mountains. The peaks were incredibly high with snow at the tops even though it was summer. We saw mountain goats, marmots, and other cool wildlife. One day we rode horses along a trail which was fun but also a little scary since the path was pretty narrow at times.Our last stop on the road trip was in Arizona to see the Grand Canyon. I couldn't believe how enormously massive and deep it was! We took a trail part of the way into the canyon and the views were just breathtaking. The different colored rocks and layers were gorgeous. We even got to ride mules for part of the hike which was a brand new experience for me.After the road trip, we spent a couple weeks just relaxing at home. I had fun riding my bike, swimming at the pool, and playing video games. I also got to go to summer camp for a week which was a total blast. We did archery, rock climbing, canoeing, arts and crafts, and so much more. I made a bunch of new friends from different schools too.To finish off the summer, we took a trip down to Orlando, Florida and went to Disney World! I was so psyched to visit all the different Disney parks like the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. We rode amazing rollercoasters and other thrilling rides, watched spectacular shows and parades, and got to meet and take pictures with my favorite Disney characters like Mickey, Buzz Lightyear, and Elsa from Frozen.The best part about Disney though was getting to stay inside the park at one of the themed resort hotels. We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge which had its own private savanna you could see right outside your window or from the pool area. Just months of fun, sun and freedom. This was going to be the best summer ever!My parents had some exciting plans for us this year. First up was a camping trip to Yellowstone National Park. We loaded up the car with our tent, sleeping bags, food and tons of other gear. The drive took forever, but I didn't mind because I was just happy to be on vacation.When we arrived at Yellowstone, I was amazed by how beautiful it was. There were tall mountain peaks, rushing rivers and forests stretching as far as the eye could see. Our campsite was right next to a huge lake that seemed to perfectly mirror the clouds above. Freshly caught fish has never tasted so delicious.One afternoon, we were driving around the park looking for wildlife when we stumbled upon a small herd of bison grazing just off the road. We watched in amazement as these massive, hairy beasts calmly munched on grass, not seeming to care that we were there.
