without any name. It is said that she comes from the pueblo on the other side of the mesa. In the traditional Indian culture, yellow woman was the woman who went to the river to fetch water. She was taken way by the God of rain and disappeared. When she came back, she either bring the twin children or just the water back home.

land. Women in Indian culture have a very high status: women are the core in the family. It symbolize wisdom and peace. Here the writer makes some connections between the protagonist and yellow woman, which reflect that the author want to rebuild the mother God of Indian culture.
